Get yourself a fly fishing combo from amazon. A 5/6 weight will fill the needs for a beginner. You dont have to buy expensive but, dont go for the cheap ones either, then get yourself a box of flies from amazon as well, depends what area you are, plenty of varieties and reasonable price. I'll say with $150.00 dollars you get a nice set up, of course you can get cheap stuff.
Very good video. Ive spin fished for trout for 20 plus years and am now getting into fly fishing so this definitely helped me understand the transition better.
Where were you a couple of years ago i really needed this video back then i had no idea what was what but you know must fly fishermen are pretty cool and are more than happy to help you out thats how i learned but this video is great I'm from R.I. and I've noticed more guys turning away from gear fishing and going with fly thats great because they all catch and release and leave the fish for other fly fishermen... THANKS FOR THE AWESOME VIDEO'S KEEP THEM COMING! I REALLY ENJOY THE WAY YOU TALK IN LAYMENS TERMS
Great video as always!!! I think knowing the basics BEFORE you decide to get into fly fishing is crucial. Great idea. You should do an "intro to fly fishing" series where you go through every aspect of fly fishing and go in-depth explaining the aspects!
Do you mind me asking how is that Superfly line I'm sick of spending $60 - $90 for Rio i switch to Cortland 444 it's half the money of Rio and out preforms it every time!
+big ron The Superfly line was surprisingly easy to cast in it's price range. Tough and silky. Shoots pretty well but hard to describe. Id try it for yourself!
casting techniques, nymphing techniques, fishing different kinds of water, ie still water, rivers small streams fly tying tutorials. knots, line and reel care, spey casting, reading water. the list could go on and on.

the best i found is tippet rings they are great
+big ron I use them on quick rigs frequently!
That is a really awesome idea it prevents less breakage
Do you use barbed or barbless hooks?
+Scott Seese Honestly, depends on whether I aim to keep.fish or not. Also, depends on the species :/
