I work in film/tv and have built extremely expensive custom sound carts as well as support/follow carts which are built like tanks, very heavy and do their jobs extremely well. However, my team and I are always looking for lighter weight more modular solutions. These are by far the best commercially produced lightweight modular system I’ve seen and we will definitely be adding some of these to our sound trailer. Really excited to get my hands on some of these and start designing some additional support carts. Then we’ll start having custom laser cut foam inserts made to accommodate various pieces of gear. So stoked!

They said they were going to introduce adaptor plates to fix the stacking problem between half boxes at the bottom and full boxes on top.
Another reason i like this system is the color. Milwaukee packouts turn pink after sitting in the sun for a long time, Black continues to look fine.

Biggest reason I chose to go with toughbuilt stack tech is because it's black and modern, plus it was cheaper than milwaukee. So far I have been extremely happy with toughbuilt. Can't wait for the full lineup to be released

Loved this video! great to see reviews coming out for the 3 drawer tool box, based on other videos TOUGHBUILT is good at seeing what the community has to say and makes changes! they already have an adaptor coming out later for the two smaller boxes to hold a full size box on top. I hope they also see this video and can come out with solutions for the locking system on the drawers!

21:30 This is probably by design. The internal dimension of the full with boxes would be smaller if that would capabable to go top of two 2 half with box. Maybe if the half with boxes could go asimetrical, but in that case you have to have both left and right of the half with boxes.

Love the 4 wheel cart and the accessories you can add on the sides. But I wish their tool box opened from the front though like milwaukees does. Saves you from unstacking everything cause that can be a real pain just to get access to one tool. Other than that I do like this system better so far. And prices weren’t as bad as I though. Another awesome review bro!

Currently my storage / organisers favourites are Dewalt and Festool - I have run Toughbuilt stuff for other things like tool belts / mitre saw stand. I'll be adding Toughbuilt storage to my line up: the stuff they have done is nothing but truly impressive! Shame they are all so expensive and in this matter I reckon Dewalt will still have an advantage.

I feel like these have BY FAR the cleanest exterior geometry. Also, everything is “one touch/one hand” operation, and the black is massive. I work in an industry where a bright colored system just wouldn’t cut it. Can’t roll up to a film set with anything that might show up in a reflection. These are gonna get whacked on the corners, and that steel corner plate will keep em really protected. The “tray” top is great for small parts and tools. They’re also doing a rolling drawer, and I’m gonna go ALL drawers, so the “no opening mid stack” is a non-problem for me. These look like they’re for a well adjusted adult as opposed to a nicotine-dependent construction bum who’s looking for his next Michelob Ultra.

I have a set of sawhorses and the belt / braces and a number of pouches. The pouches are rigid and tools cannot be forced in to the pouches as you would possibly with a typical tool belt . However, I believe that due to the various pouch configurations, they will generally suffice for most applications. They are very sturdy and drill holsters work well. I've invested in Systainers and these work well and are surprisingly tough (if not abused too badly. The STACKTECH looks like a brilliant solution - particularly like the drawers - Systainer as far as I'm aware do not have drawers as spacious as the Toughbuilt ones. Market needs to keep an eye on this range. Drawbacks for me are cost and possibly weight. Great products though.

The only reason things won't fit on top of cooler and half size is that they need to open from the top, so they'll need to always be on top . But beefy accessory locking !!!!

I have the Mwaki packouts and a lot of the drawer units. My complaint about them is that if you look at them at eye level, there's a pretty sizeable 5-7mm gap above each drawer. And because there's no sort of back stop behind it, dust, dirt, water, insects, whatever can get in through there. So if you're keeping things in there expecting them to stay clean and dry, you better take a closer look at how vulnerable it really is. I couldn't tell in your video if these drawers have a big gap too. That ambulance stretcher work bench thing is very cool though. I almost want to get one and mount some packout wall plates on the top of it haha

Man I have both Milwaukee and dewalt. Milwaukee has more options more details… but dewalt it is just what you need.
Dewalt has a huge huge huge advantage because you can pull the the box from under without moving the ones that are siting upside. That is gold. It cost you less time and less effort to get to the tool that you need. Everytime. And that means money and comfort.
The dewalt boxes are much more easy to clean. You just point the washer and it’s done. Because they have a simpler form… not 100 iregularities on the surface like Milwaukee has.
I like how this looks but if they don’t have a system that you can access the boxes without moving the ones that are siting on top… is not comparable.

Also a bit of constructive criticism, you should try to avoid stating obvious things continuously when you go and edit the video with reading images or try to be sure to mention it only once. Also with stating each box is ip65, that’s clearly well known for each box. Fill us with more of your great information and stop repeating yourself. 😊 thanks again tech made easy.

I want one table. That’s easy to use outside on somewhat unlevel surfaces. 5’ x30” range would be perfect. that trailer hitch receiver and the transport systems are awesome. Hope Milwaukee follows suit. Or very least I’m sure somebody will 3D print adapter plates for Milwaukee 🤣. But gosh dang it I want a SOLID table that’s big enough.

    Very professional video !
Unfortunately ST like most brands, do not spend enough time in real life working conditions and still make mistakes.
Like packout before them, and Tanos the original modular system.
1/2 width- full connection ,no lock drawers etc.
Black...I checked my packout with an temperature gun in December .
110° on red handles,150° on black lid in full sun.
What i do like are gusseted corners ,bars in lids, full modular configuration unlike my packout.
I have worked 20 years to become completely cordless, and to have my tools be stored inside.
So the well thought out side mounted accessories are worthless to me, like the packout p-towel holders etc.
The soon to be released ST drawers, etc look very cool.
However a bird in hand is worth 2 in the bush.
I have too much $ into packout for the switch to be worth it, #gamechanger has not been released for my workflo just yet.

They didn't miss anything in r&d the two smaller boxes aren't meant to have anything on top. They create a middle rib which is why you can't stack on top of them.

  • @james2042

Not a fan of their "release it and sell an accessory to fix it" model, they are making an accessory plate to mount narrow boxes and making a locking accessory for the drawers (I don't understand how unless it will be a big bulky thing that props itself under the handle, theres no lockable anchor point on these units). They're claiming they're going to redesign the narrow boxes to not have this issue anymore, maybe lowering the sides on top so they match the profile of the hump.
Also my guess is coolers are white so they don't bake in the sun, like milwaukee's has a white top instead of black. The compact cooler seems like a nice touch that they plan on releasing. I could see stacktech working its way into camping with some of these accessories

Your con on the full not stacking on top of two haves -- do the Dewalt and/or MKE stack a full on top of two haves?
I'm not into the details of these "boxes" so I kind of assumed none of them stacked a full on top of two halves. Perhaps with a "spacer"/special piece... It got me thinking how it could be designed to be able to do it.
I'm learning a bunch on these type of "box systems" via your reviews. Thank you!

Seems like a pretty nice system, but some of the accessories are definitely overpriced.
