    Mahler 3. Underperformed and underrated. A magnificent symphony, and of course you get more Mahler in this than in any other!

      Mahler is overrated. Shut up. This student orchestra is average and needs to go back to practice

    This is EPIC! You know it will be when you have 8 timpani to play two notes, and 4 pairs of cymbals for that epic moment!

    Superb playing. This should be the way the percussion should sound. The tempo was wonderful. Almost up there with Bernstein and Abbado.

    such a performance by a little known orchestra who is so young outshines many performances by well-known conductors and orchestras; they deserve to be on the world stage like Carnegie Hall or Royal Albert Hall, and i have listened to more than 36 recordings of Mahler's Third, what a gem!!!

    Love the four pairs of cymbals. All of those utility percussionists have pretty much just been sitting around since the first movement, so why not give them more to do!

    O-M-G!!! I cannot believe what you have accomplished. You are to be the new beacon in Asia! And what blows my mind is that you reached the level of Mahler to communicate grandiose human feelings. Knowing that most of you are so young, I know that in the future you will keep on impressing us more and more!

    In 1.46 Cameraman take a shot when i played on “Air” it’s not my mistake
    BECAUSE I hear the 32” drum it’s a little bit flat, so i try to play Ghost movement. I don’t know cameraman behind me 😂😂😂

    In my opinion, this symphony is considered among the greats, it's better than the 8th tho. His 4th and 7th are underrated gems.

    I do not think Mahler intended the 4 cymbal players to be involved but nevertheless it was effective

    • @barryguerrero7652
      @barryguerrero7652 2 года назад +4

      Mahler would have loved it. He loved percussion. What he also would have liked to have had there, are stronger trombones. It's only two on a part (2 part writing), and it's a strain for them to belt their watermelons out at a full fortissimo. I sometimes think there should 6 'bones there, so you have three on a part.

    • @simonparker57

      Mahler would probably have had forty if he could have afforded them!

    • @thejokingwizard
      @thejokingwizard 2 года назад +1

      controversial. in the last moments of the 3rd Mahler wanted to differentiate it from the Pan's march, so he didn't mark everything fff, but instead playing fully. for me personally as long as the cymbals have a lasting sound im a happy man

    • @puccininesko
      @puccininesko 2 года назад

      Mahler's intention was "more cymbals", same in the repetition of 1. Movement after the second horn call.

    Mahler titled his 8th Symphony ( The Symphony of a Thousand ) so it makes sense that he would have wanted as many musicians on stage including 4 Cymbal players

    • @hillcresthiker
      @hillcresthiker 2 года назад +3

      But this is only the 3rd? Mahler didnt come up with the title "Symphony of a thousand"- the promoter- Emil Guttman did!

    • @ianng9915
      @ianng9915 2 года назад

      @@hillcresthiker he has 9 symphonies plus a symphonic song cycles. His 8th is the biggest but probably not for everyone unless you’re listening live.

    • @hillcresthiker
      @hillcresthiker 2 года назад +1

      @@ianng9915 Youre correct and I know this- but Richard Williams referred to his 8th and then suggested why the 3rd would need 4 cymbals....while the 3rd was written in 1896 and the 8th in 1910. His dating was out of order
