Story
The sequel to the backtombs, another level about the Backroom's lore. This time Lara was just ready to have a nice swim in her pool, when all of a sudden...
It's really an interesting to see another release from the author again. In this level you will enter giant pooltombs right underneath her swimming pool in the manor. It gives you 3 different trials for each puzzle pieces. Of course, there is definitely peril ahead of us. You have to be cautious in this level because the author only gives you 2 small medipacks. Make sure to use them wisely at the right moment ....

This rules. The old TR games already have a heavy liminal vibe, especially Lara's home - I think that's one big reason I like them so much.

I like to call these kinds of custom maps "scenic route challenges". Tough on their own, but the surreal imagery and unusual places you go to are what make the challenge rewarding.
Hits me in the nostalgias from old Lara games and liminal memories, exquisitely executed. This is gorgeous ♥️

Whilst this is absolutely next level nostalgia and jump alignment, that health bar is stressing me OUT.
That's pretty neat someone made a backrooms level.

I posted this idea on reddit when the backroom trend started. The TR engine has very good potentional i think to make backroom lvls :) It's actualy nice to see finaly some level :o

Yeh it's like she got a really bad fever after finishing the adventure. A little bit of opera house, Maria Doria, Claudios laptop, flame thrower guys, I think she had PTSD.
I mean, one can argue already that the entirety of the Backrooms is a fever dream.
This is giving nineties indoor swimming paradise / hellscape vibes, horrifically cool!

This seriously is a great original creative level. I always wondered as a kid why her pool wasn't bigger. This is pretty neat. props to the creator!
Interesting level design good job I love tomb raider as back in day but hated the level designs in tomb raider 3 but the game was fun.
My brother passed away 10years ago, always watched him play tomb raider 1,2&3 when I was little. Really sucks that I can't ask him if he knew about this level or not, I never saw him play it :/ interesting to watch a bit I haven't seen before. I love watching these on youtube keeps that memory alive :)
I am sorry to hear this. I believe he knows this level in the sky (or heaven) for sure. And at least there are some good memories of you and your brother spending some time in TR games 😊
This level made me feel so uneasy and probably for the wrong reason.
I couldn't stop thinking about how slippery it would be in a place like that lol.

It's also kinda eerie to see those tiles all over the place, they probably hired a really cheap designer or something.

I love the water rooftop with the white tiles so much. It looks like a waterpark. Very fun .
I enjoyed these costume levels more than original levels
Love these custom levels. Very creative. Which cud play them on modern console. Like the original levels but like the originality of your levels. Very constructive and entertaining to watch. Really enjoy the new games, but nothing beats getting back to basics with old Lara. Fond memories from back in the day

Never in my life would i ever believe i would witness tomb raider 2 (of all games) combined with a concept like the backrooms (Of all concepts)
Yet here we are. And its fucking beautiful. Tomb raider 2 graphics WITH the backrooms. God bless the modding community for making the impossible...Possible.
The backrooms are as they SHOULD be. Making ABSOLUTELY no sense and the environment is confusing with every step you take in TR2 graphics. Glorious.

Steven links custom levels to their sources in the descriptions, and there's a few archives for TR custom content available (the ones I know of are TRLE and TRCustoms). It's worth setting aside a day or two (and extra storage space if you're downloading) for the archives since there's so many custom maps on these sites for TR2 alone.

Have you seen the add ons for TR Underworld. Beneath The Ashes / Lara's Shadow ?? Much in a similar pretense as Pooltombs. Not as much of a great play but one GREAT story !!
@@terminallygray: Seen? Yeah. Played? Well... I've just commented on another video about how salty I still am re: Underworld's Xbox-exclusive DLCs. Especially since Underworld is my favourite out of the new TRs ("new" as in "the 2013-2018 games don't feel like TRs").
@@Airsaber Still not as bad as reboot by a longshot. Now the TR community is getting their panties in a twist because they're spraying a fresh coat of paint on TR 1 to 3. but..... I can also relate....TR3 Lost Artifact being a standalone unlike Unfinished B and Golden M. It was pretty crass of Core to do it that way.
@@terminallygray: I'd prefer a fresh coat of paint on 4 as it's my favourite, but I'll definitely be getting these three (especially since 3 is my second favourite of the first generation). It just kinda sucks that we have to wait until 2024, but oh well, it's not like I haven't played the originals more than once and it's not like I don't have a ton of other games to play.

WATER LEVELS!
You don´t even know how frustrating water levels in every game is. Tomb Raider, Land of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse. And Sonic...oooh, Sonic, I had nightmares for months!

What a strange level.....but in such a good way though. I quite liked that.
I always did the same. Turn Lara a little to the side and back so she won't shoot the pistols simultaenously
I dunno but doing that for this kind of purpose feels somewhat natural. That's why I've long been having this habit when shooting with Pistols and Uzis 😄

Just incredible. Im almost at the end of tomb raider 2 right now, playing my ps1 disk in my ps2, so no high definition graphics like this but still so enjoyable

How do you get to play these custom maps? I only play on ps5 but I’m willing to download TR 1-5 on steam IF I can play with ease with the ps5 controller. I’d be more inclined to set it up if I could play custom levels too. Any help would be great.

The authentic double pistol is still awesome. I play a new Tomb Raider since last week and with 30 hours in die game sadly there is still no double pistol.
As for the Reboot series, only the finall boss fight gives Lara a chance to use Dual pistols 😅

24:30 yea… I tried this level but made it all the way up to this part, but at a much, much slower pace. Couldn’t beat the time switch/flame. This part is to advance for my tomb raider skills. RIP to me ever beating this level. 😢

Sorry to hear such discouragement from your experience. I can understand how challenging these upper and lower jump sequences. Having unable to deny the truth I tried more than twice times 😅
@@stevenPCGaming I watched another walkthrough video, and they took another route. I’ll definitely try again, and try their route. It looked “easier” to take. 😭
I will definitely watch the movements and try to recreate and report back if I beat it. But hands down, your run/Walkthrough of that put and the whole video was perfection. Best walkthrough.

*I FINALLY BEAT IT!!!!!*
took me many deaths, saves, and loads on both time switches events. Not so many retry’s in the last fight with the enemies and dogs, with half of health and no small med packs, but a few… more like 10 tries or so. 😭
Finished the level in 1: 09: 36 with all secrets and no med packs with very low health. 😅 and it took 82 saves to do it. 🥲
"No climbing on sculpture" and then place a switch on the sculpture... Great 😄
those signs are tempting players to climb it on 😂
It's so nervewracking. Knowing your health bar is so low that if Lara so much as...
chips her nailpolish, or
doesn't take a shower, or
smokes a cigarette, or
forgets to wipe her bottom, or
finishes the hot fudge sundae,
she's dead. A nice quick little romp. Would have been better in TRLE or NGLE but some have their preferences. I give you that.
