Cup Feeding For Infants/Neonates (SQUH)

This educational video explain the safe artificial method of cup feeding term, preterm babies and babies with cleft lip or palate. This video is according to SQUH nursing policy.

For anyone concerned, this method works WITH the baby’s natural instincts and prepares the baby to breastfeed ❤
In many instances it better mimics breastfeeding than bottle feeding does (unless you do paced-bottle feeding ), because the baby does not have to keep up with the flow of a bottle that’s tipped up so it flows regardless of the baby sucks or not. When done correctly, it DOES NOT cause the baby to aspirate or choke the baby. With this method, you are NOT to POUR the milk in, and the baby is to never be fed lying down
