Why a cup are not a bottle breast doesn’t make sense to me? The plastic cup doesn’t give a breast or a bottle comfort would give the closeness to a mother.
The cup and the spoon are done even in hospitals. My daughter was fed like that too because after my csec my milk didnt come up for 3 days. This is the right thing to do, if mum wants to brest feed later
In the video they mentioned that he will have his tongue released, which means he has tongue tie. That is not an uncommon occurrence in newborns when their tongue is tethered to the bottom of their mouth by a thick piece of tissue. This prevents them from using their tongue properly to nurse or take a bottle. This is a short-term method of feeding until the baby has a frenectomy to release the tongue.

Breast and bottle feeding work completely different. A baby at the breast used mostly muscles of the tongue and jaw to express milk while a baby uses more cheek and lip muscles to move milk from a bottle. Both positive and negative pressure are needed to express milk from the breast. The back of the tongue creates a vacuum in the mouth as it pumps up and down to draw milk in via negative pressure while the front of the tongue compresses the breast to help push milk out. Bottle feeding uses mostly positive pressure from compressing the bottle nipple. It is an easier process to move milk from a bottle than the breast. A cup uses the same muscles as the breast. Using a cup actually promotes breastfeeding and is a great alternative to supplementing baby when breastfeeding is the goal.
@@lalactation Thank You. Your explanation is so thorough and interesting. I misunderstood, thinking that you were encouraging the parents to use cup feeding instead of bottle or breastfeeding. Oh how I wish this was presented in my time 35 years ago. Do you need to sterilise a reusable cup after each use or is washing with warm water sufficient ? Are there any disposable cup solutions ? I’m cup feeding formula till my supply comes up, along with breastfeeding, but we are already almost 4 weeks old!
That was so cute! I just thought before there were baby bottles that Mothers always breast-fed their babies. But that makes really good sense to feed them that way! I wish I had of known that 45 years ago! My son wasn’t breast fed, he weighed 10 pounds when he was born! When he was 4 months old the doctor put him in the hospital! He would have his bottle then he had diarrhea & what didn’t come out one end…came out the other end!! This was after every bottle! He lost down to a little over 7 pounds in a matter of weeks! I was afraid I would lose him!! They ran lots of tests on him and told me there was a muscle in his stomach that when he had his bottle it would push up and cause him to throw up, or fall down and cause him to have diarrhea or most of the time it would do both!! They worked with him trying different kinds of formula and finally told me to place him in an infant seat (we didn’t have car seats back then for babies) when I gave him his bottle and tie it down in his bed so he wouldn’t fall out of it during nap time or nighttime! After doing this for 4 or 5 months straight, I could then lay him down in his bed. But from then on I always fed him while he was sitting up!! Thank you! NORMA COLLINS FROM TEXAS
It can help depending on why baby is choking. I would try the evenflo balance with the slow flow nipple or the pigeon super slow flow nipples as options for bottle feeding. Work with an ibclc lactation consultant to help figure out why baby is choking on bottles. I’m also available for virtual consultations at www.lalactation.com
There’s a valid reason bottle tears are like they are. Because they resemble a natural way to feed a baby. Giving a cup at newborn is wrong and will encourage choking.
Both of my kids were formula bottle fed. They slept longer into the night & turned out absolutly healthy & beautiful! Breast milk is wayyy overrated...
I disagree. Breast milk is much healthier for human babies - especially newborns. If a mother really doesn't want to breastfeed, that's her choice, of course. But I believe that it should definitely be actively encouraged. I admire the parents of this baby, for being determined to breastfeed, even though it clearly took more time and effort to use the cup until he was able to take milk from the breast.
I never had to do this thankfully, but I think it could be very dangerous if not done properly any wrong move and that fluid is going down wrong and choking baby. I don't recommend anyone do this just for fun of it and without proper training
Well this was a good demonstration of how to feed a baby if they will not take a nipple and it was good to see the beautiful baby so peaceful and calm and taking the milk so well however in his case since he can suck on a finger it looks like he could have been able to suck on a nipple
I’m pregnant with my first baby (girl). I like this video ! This is So beautiful , this baby ! ❤️👶🥹 God bless the baby and his family ! ❤️🥰 I’m 28 Weeks almost…i’m so nervous! This nurse it’s a good theacher .

Babies are able to adapt easily if the person feeding isn't freaked out which transfers to the baby. Her calm demeanir is amazing.

I’m cup feeding formula till my supply comes up, along with breastfeeding, but we are already almost 4 weeks old!
Have you tried it from a bottle? 🍼
@@kisulya7goddamn you need to let people live lady, everyone knows what a bottle is, they are choosing not to use one
È bellissimo È un ometto già...quant'è dolce
Hope my 3 month old wd cooperate like this when i return to work.
Thank you!

Does this prevent the baby from choking? My baby chokes every time we bottle feed her.
Dulce bebé❤❤❤❤
Dios te Bendiga angelito bello😊❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
There’s a valid reason bottle tears are like they are. Because they resemble a natural way to feed a baby. Giving a cup at newborn is wrong and will encourage choking.
agree
I don't understand the reason why a cup, instead of a bottle.. please explain. Thank you!
The explanation is in the video description including the rationale. It’s been explained.
Both of my kids were formula bottle fed. They slept longer into the night & turned out absolutly healthy & beautiful!
Breast milk is wayyy overrated...
Some of us really want to. Don't judge
What patience!
Cutest baby ever!!! Thanks for sharing 😊.❤
Is not the border of the cup too sharp for the precious mouth of the baby?
No. This medicine cup has a rounded edge and the baby was fine with it
What a cute baby!!
the Baby said , it's about time yall fed me, starving to death here.
I'm still wondering why he's drinking from a cup
Did you read the caption on the video? It explains it
@@lalactationno they didn't
I'm assuming that you have not heard of a baby bottle you should try using one the baby would like it much better I don't know what your doing
Well it's a good thing you are here then! This nurse knows what she's doing quite well, stay for a while and get educated😅
I’m pregnant with my first baby (girl). I like this video ! This is So beautiful , this baby ! ❤️👶🥹 God bless the baby and his family ! ❤️🥰
I’m 28 Weeks almost…i’m so nervous! This nurse it’s a good theacher .
You will do amazing! Congratulations mama ❤️
I love them doing this because it gives other options for the baby to feed.....would especially come in hand when there are no breasts or bottles around.
