I subscribed this is an amazing thing you guy's have done here saving an amazing peace of history. Can you tell me about this fine rig driv'ah? I have an 1978 white frightshaker cabover 305 in wheel BASE 8 in bull hauler stack's . I'm out of Detroit city. Thanks for sharing.
Drove a COF4070 with a 318 Detroit and 13 speed for years. Didn’t ride the best, was a bit noisy, but it NEVER broke down and left me stranded. And the cab was all metal, hardly any plastic and had no rattles. Miss that old girl...
My very first love of Class 8 trucks way back in1975!...then after 38 years of coast to coast OTR trucking, starting in 1977, I’m finally retired as of 2015! I’ll be going BACK on the road soon to live out he rest of my life, but, NOT in a truck...instead in a Promaster Class B camper van. It’ll be so wonderful to see all of the backroads and the things I didn’t get to see the first time around bc I was trapped in the concrete jungles of the interstate system! I’m much older now, yes, but, my spirit is still very young! ~Jim~
Boy this truck brings back good memories for me when i was 17 years old my dad bought what was then a brand new 1981 international transtar 2 coe he drove for seward motor freight in seward nebraska
It has been a dream of mine for years to get one, my mom drove one in 1980 for an outfit out of Mckinney tx (miles homes) was the first truck I rode in over the road. It has been a fun project. Get all kinds of honks and thumbs up when I drive it around town
Well you have a new subscriber and Eddie you keep making these videos please and I’ll keep watching them! Yeah Record some drive time in them Cabovers. B4 I got old enough to drive daddy started buying some conventional cabs but we still had I don’t know I guess 10 or 12 cabovers so when I turned 18 and started driving I started driving a 1983 international Eagle white with blue stripes I loved that truck!!
I drove one of these for over five years, 350 Cummins with a 10 speed, and one of the few air-rides. While the sleeper was a bit small and it suffered from luxuries like today’s trucks, it was solid, reliable, and very easy to maintain. Since the cab was almost all metal and very little plastic, any rattles could be cured with a screw driver! Today’s trucks, with plastic cabs, DEF engines, and electronics up the arse may be nicer but I’d still drive the COF4070B in a pinch!
We had one I believe it was a 79 model international it was that color brown all over we called it chocolate drop had a Cummins 290 engine in it and a 13 speed transmission. Every truck we had had a name when daddy would get one whatever Driver started driving it would usually name it sometimes me and daddy would name them these videos bring back some extremely good memories for me being with my daddy all the time I love my daddy I started going with him and I was still in diapers and he would take me because I would cry to go with him so I grew up in those trucks I could drive a big truck before I was 10 years old so naturally when I turned 18 I started driving and now I’m crippled up I got hurt bad and I can’t do nothing so I’ll watch these videos of these trucks cause I miss Them and my daddy so bad
I drove many Cornbinders in the 70's for Holland Motor Express, we even had the 290 Fuel Squeezers, I never had problem, and, I loved the Air Tags!!! I started in a Cracker Box though.
Great job and beautiful truck! You are so lucky that you were able to find it with a big cam 400 Cummins. Usually they had a 290 or 350 in 1978. The big cam 400’s were more popular in 1980 and later. Keep up the great work!
@@eddieconaway707 I’m planning to buy one out in maricopa in the morning. I’m just worried about finding any parts. So hopefully eBay will be good to me as it has been to you
👍🏽🥰NICE!! I hope U get to rebuild the engine the way U want someday soon and add a matching set of rear fender’s & polish-out the fuel tank’s like Your new wheel’s so all the metal is brightly polished👍🏽😎
Wow i drove by that Truck at least 1000 times over the years hoping someone would restore it. My first trucking job i had in 1982 i drove a Transtar ll 350 cummins and 13 speed all over new england but you did a great job on the paint and frame it looks brand new! love the scriptures on the frame God Bless you all!
Blessings from the Ohio Porters. There’s something about a cabover that really gets me excited.🧐 They’re different, tall, have lots of appeal and character! 🤩 Cabovers rule! 🥰 Thanks for sharing!
I put close to a million miles on a 1977 Transtar 2 290 Cummins, 10 speed transmission, 3.55 gears, not great, but with a number 10 fuel button, and 2 extra shims ( to increase RPM) it did well and got 6 MPG.
That was my first paint job, I had a good friend that did body work and paint.i guess watching him gave me the courage to take it on myself. My son inlaw and I did all the work and I'm proud of how it turned out. My hats off to you sir I wish I had more mechanical knowledge.
@@eddieconaway707 My problem is the sanding part, how does one keep from making "hills" and how does one lay an even coat of paint all the way????? That is why I can rebuild a motor but can't paint for nothing lol I will have to try one day though.'

Eddie, looks great. Where did you get parts? I'm trying to restore a 1979 4070B but having trouble with parts
Great Job if you could find a visor would deck it out but great job
Yes sir I am looking for one now, everything I find is on east coast and shipping is more than the visor
How’s the availability for parts? I’m looking to buy one, but unsure of parts availability
I have had good luck on ebay getting what I needed .more available on east coast than west.
