It's actually super safe, I've been in Paraguay for some time now, and it's amazing how everybody is so kind, also is actually the safest in South America.

Algo interesante de Sudamérica es que cada país tiene diferente cultura a pesar de hablar todos castellano o portugués. Yo viajé a Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Mendoza, Guayaquil, Bogotá, y no me pasó nada, pero sí ví robos en Europa cuando estuve de paseo.

I am not discrediting Lisa but 90% of the world is totally safe to travel to. Don’t go looking to stir up trouble and you’ll be surprised how people want to serve you like a king and make their money. They take care you and you take care of them… everything is good.

Yes that's true! Don't go looking for trouble. Sometimes we are raised thinking a particular country is dangerous but in reality it isn't. Be kind and friendly when a guest in particular country.

Suriname is also one of South America's safest countries. It's safer than Peru, Paraguay and even Argentina.

Yes I had friends who lived there. This is based on an article (older now) and it only ranked the top 5 based on certain factors and targeting expats. But sure these aren't the only countries that are safe.

If you look at the posibilities of having an accident. Perú is a dangerous country, because the roads are in bad condition and the trafic is caotic.
The health system in Perú is horrible. That will be a perfec example of a third world country. The Policemen are corrupt to the bone.
Then you have Argentina, they drive too fast on the highways which are generally full of holes. And in the cities they do not respect trafic rules such as respecting the pedestrian crossings. Beside the police stop you for no real reason but because they want a bribe from you.
Paraguay is one of the safest, because they do not have many vehicles, but you have to go slow.
Uruguay is the second best regarding accidents.
Chile stands out because it has excellent highways, they respect the traffic rules and the police is not corrupt. If you offer a bribe to a Chilean Policeman you are certain to end up in jail for attempting to corrupt an officer of the state.
Health services in Chile are modern clean and fast when dealing with accidents. However you have to be careful when going alone to isolated unpopulated places, as no one will find you if you need help in the wilderness, so always advice local police of your exploring intentions, in case they have to search for you.
