We spent just over a month exploring South America, visiting Peru, Bolivia, Argentina and Chile and these travel vlogs are to share our experience of the first time touching the continent... safe to say we loved it! But, more than any trip we've had in YEARS we were researching like crazy with so many burning questions about South America.
Not only is South America massive, so it's not like there is a one size fits all guide, but there are so many destinations you can visit. We settled on a couple of awesome tours with G Adventures and never looked back, but even still we had so many things to figure out for our first time to the continent.
So in this vlog we wanted to share with you 20 of the things we learnt in South America that will help with your own trip, or at the very least see that travel isn't perfect and it's really all about what you make of it.
Thanks again to our friends at Surfshark for sponsoring this video - don't miss out on our crazy good deal here: surfshark.deals/DANDS

Machupicchu is an incredible place, magic. FULL energy.
The face when Stacey says amaziiiiiiing!!! It's priceless ❤
Absolutely loved this series, so excited to see you travel somewhere new again. This too was a really useful video with some great tips
It was an awesome series, as always💛 Love all your content and following your adventures. You two make me smile.
So informative! I have been a subscriber since your first Thailand series and you guys have always been the best at these practical information vlogs for countries you are visiting. Thank you so much!
Too good - thanks for hanging with us for so long!!
Loved the tip's and trick's and traveling hack's like it great channel guys 👍
LOL at the Wise/ card plug! If only the card was available in every country! :D
Ugh we hear ya! We were trying to get access to Wise years before it was available in NZ and tried to get one delivered to Poland haha, alllmost got there but they blocked it last minute
Great video! Question, was this shot a few months ago or is it easier to just keep the Christmas tree up all year round to save packing it up? 😂😊 love your work guys.
Good video, Dan-uh-grr and Stacey. Looks like an exciting continent.
Thanks Guys, really useful for me as I’m heading to SA for 4 months in April
Many thanks 🙏🏻
Great practical tips guys - thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
As with all your videos, this was a great series 😊
So much to see in South America . There so many countries worthy of visits. You couldn't say it any better. The travel tips are spot on. Harriet and I have been to 8 countries and enjoyed
every one of them. It's a continent that you have to spend a little time in to get to know it's people and culture. Our approach is to do one country at a time. You manage to capture great footage despite your challenges. Kudos Stace for hanging in there when you were experiencing altitude sickness. Any plans in the future to visit other countries in South America?
Nalu looks so cute. She must be a lap dog. Always looking for affection. Hopefully one day we could catch up with you somewhere in the world. Sending you Hugs🫂 and Kisses💋 from Richmond, Va. Harriet, Jim and Yuki
Thanks for the SA series was so good 👍 and thanks for putting me onto the Wise card, have used it here (NZ) and Aus and am off 2 Vietnam/Cambodia/Thailand in September where it will get a thrashing 😊 have also recommended it 2 everyone that will listen 😂
thanks for this, guys! So useful. IF I ever get to that side of the world one day...
You should! It's such an incredible experience and a real journey too (in a good way)
We really enjoyed your tips and tricks - we are older than you but are planning the same trip as you - with the tour you did, where did you do it? or did they plan your whole trip for you?
Great watching your videos ....but where is NZ on the map you use in this one??!! It took me till half way through to realise it's not there 😮😂
Great video guys! was really interested to hear how you got on with poquito espanol...as a solo traveller I found this to be my biggest challenge, I wasnt as fluent as I woudlve liked by the time I went and I definitely think its essential, its definitely not like a lot of other parts of the world where you usually always have some English in the high tourism spots, you really need to know Spanish, the tour definitely would've helped and I had the same luck of meeting a bunch of Spanish speakers at my hostel and we travelled together as a group from then...but without them it woudlve been so challenging! Im planning to return and have a tutor currently,
Definitely a part of the world for the experienced traveller, only thing that sucks being from our part of the world, languages aren't as big of a deal because we are so far from everything! its funny meeting Americans who all speak good Spanish in that part of the world
Incredibly useful video, thanks guys! In Argentina I used Western Union to send money to myself (from my UK bank account). That way you get the blue rate but don't have to bring lots of USD cash with you.
Awesome video guys, we’ve been following your journey as we prepare for our own trip to Peru, Bolivia and Brazil next month! Having a kiwi experience we can relate to definitely helps
We did have a question that you can hopefully help with - did you guys end up getting the Yellow fever vaccination? Finding it difficult to find a definitive answer on whether this is a requirement for Bolivia
Thanks so much!
Awesome! Thank you! yes we did get the vaccine, not that we were ever asked about it but if you are asked (immigration etc) that could be a problem. Plus, better to be prepared in terms of the risks.
Looks like it was an amzing trip....so much variety between the different countries which is always an added bonus. Well, so now is the time to start researching your Kimberley Cruise trip....haha. The perfect season for cruising is coming up soon....an amazing and barely touched part of the planet. None of the popular travel vloggers have been so far.....so, someone has to be first. Between Broome and Darwin is the popular cruises......prepared to be blown away by the ancient land. Thank me later !!!
Christmas tree up haha
Haha yeah admittedly we filmed this a little while ago but it was still far too long after xmas
Where did NZ go???
Congrats - you passed the test!
Nice video
Thanks!
@@DanegerAndStacey you’re welcome
Hey Dane and Stacey, it seems you’re coming home now after a trip to South America! My wife and I are planning to visit New Zealand this year and maybe stay for a month. We live in Paris but are planning to go for a nomadic life. I'm just starting to learn about this and feel completely lost, so any advice or tips are welcome. Thanks for your generosity and inspiration ❤
Hey! The nomadic life is amazing, so many positives and a lot of challenges too. Honestly the best we can recommend is to grab a copy of our How To Travel Full-Time book, as much as we hate to turn this into a 'sale' but it's 300+ pages of discussing ways to make money, adjusting to the life, the challenges and more.
@@DanegerAndStacey Awesome! I got my copy and I'm excited to start reading it. Thanks a lot!
For the altitude sickness does the coca leaves actually help with the altitude?
From our perspective, not really... sadly
Next time come to Brazil!
We will!
