Indeed, Being the one on the back doing strange things, I ended up fixing mechanical musical instruments for work 😂!
What an absolutely gorgeous instrument! Thanks for sharing this with the world!
Has anyone ever tried using it as a spinning wheel, since that mechanism appears intact? It just needs a bobbin.
So far no one try, maybe the

Ist das Instrument ein Eigenbau aus einem Spinnrad?
No, it was built by Theodor Bessler in Alpirsbach, Baden Württemberg in 1830.
The instrument was made to be a musical spinning wheel from it's conception. But the "organ part" and the "spinning wheel" one could have been produced by two different makers. Only the name of Theodor Bessler was found on the instrument.
Can you spin yarn with that too?
We haven't try, but from some friends, who had some experience, the spinning wheel elements are fully operational and well build.
How do you know it was made in 1830?
We base the datation on the way the instrument was constructed and the few information we found from the maker's stamp found on the instrument.
