Everyone's been asking me to do a review on the Apex, and the biggest question I've gotten is; "what's the difference between this, and the original?" It's lighter, snappier, and more damp than the normal version of the Orca, and you can really feel the extra pop and liveliness because of the carbon and magnesium that has been added to the core. Mix in recycled plastics to make the board super lightweight, and ecologically friendly.
The dimensions of the Apex stay the same as the tried and true normal version of the Orca. It's a wide category board, designed to be undersized by anywhere from 3 to 9 cm's. The waist width sits around 27.0cm, and the board is set back by 2.5 inches. An 11mm taper encourages floatation, while the tight turning radius (7 meters) makes the board super agile for tighter turns in the trees.
The XC2 profile is the perfect blend of rocker between the feet, with elongated camber zones that run out to the tip and tail. The rocker makes the board super easy to initiate turns, while the cambered zones give the board really good pop and control. I especially like how the entire board can be steered off of the back camber zone.
This board was a pure joy to ride, and took one of my already favourite boards on the market, and enhanced it with a premium construction.

Very informative and I’d like to see Andreas review more than snowboards. His clear but soothing voice keeps me wanting more. More like hearing what Oakley has in goggles or what’s new in bindings.

The only thing stopping me from buying this board is that I hear it’s more chatter on hardpack or groomers than the regular orca. I don’t think I want to pay more for a harsher ride when in the north east I don’t get the best POW conditions. Does anyone have a feedback on this?

Had the opportunity to try a couple of orcas last week. I usually ride Koruas. And will continue to do so 😂

I have a regular Orca because I’m a peasant lol fantastic board though. Only thing that took a little adjustment was the transition heel to toe feels a little loose for a moment like the board wants to rotate.

This is interesting but I have completely moved away from shirt fat decks. For me the profile has much more importance for riding pow. And as I use normal size boots I just do not need wider decks.

How does this board ride switch? I didn't hear much about it in the video. How would it handle landings and take-offs switch?
