The hissing sound is the air pump thats used to control the valves in the exhaust. because you have a TT kit fitted, i bet its not plugged in. The 4,2 engine in the other audi cars are the same block, just a dry sump vs a wet sump. Could easily be swapped over. Just put in the block and the piston you need.
I like this front facia design so much more than the new one. It suits the overall smooth look of the car better. They tried to make the new one more aggressive, but it doesn't work for me.

Cant believe you were quoted $30000 to repair the engine, that is insane. I'm so lucky to have a father with 50 years experience building engines. I'm sure he would laugh at the $30000 quote.
I also find it hard to believe it cant be rebuilt it seems strange. surely you can buy larger oem pistons and just have the block bored out to get rid of the scorching only reason i can think of that not working is if the metal the blocks made of is fragile which would be dumb for a super car

Did they BUILD it at the factory or did they mold it out of the mist via magic. Anything that can be bolted to or inside an engine can be done again unless the block is too scored in that cylinder. Call up a good raceshop engine builder and have them quote how much it would be with new aftermarket pistons. Metal doesn't know or care what name is on the valve cover. It is after all still just machined metal balanced in that engine.
Ronnie Staggs reason why I work on my cars. A r8 V8 is like working on a backwards rs4 with way more space. Take the rear bumper off and the bumper frame member and get to work. I bet you can rebuild it for 11k at most and get 1100hp out of it in the process. Best of luck to you! Remember the 4.2 in the r8 is the same as the b8 rs4. Look thru the Audi catalog to see which cars share parts/engine.
The color looks like Suzuka Grey Pearl. It was offered as a special order color on the R8 and RS4 in 2012. Has been more widely used the last few years. My R32 was repainted this color...
Yo, we wrapped this car and did the brakes and what not 3.5 years ago. Knew the owner pretty well that blew it up lol. Appreciate the love on our wrap and brakes 😂 also we had put v10 side blades on it. Hit me up let’s talk about it!

To add to that, the car has been properly maintained by local Audi dealer. We just upgraded to a newer Audi A8. Cheaper than buying a motor separately, not to mention the miles are low.
Sometimes my r8 wing won't go down. If you drive the car around a bit, and then hit the button, it will most likely go back down. Notorious r8 issue. Just upgrade to a fixed GT style wing!

My guess on the hissing sound is it is a air pump venting fumes from the engine bay after running. Kinda like a boat does with an inboard motor. But it is just a guess.
it could be a miniature helicopter and a little miniature guy flying it checking if there's an invasion of miniature carbon slinging enemies infecting the engine bay,but that's just a guess and to be perfectly honest its almost as stupid as your guess.
I heard the bit about the cracked piston and scored bore but unless you've looked with a bore-scope yourself it could be just BS to get an expensive repair.
I have a 2007 B7 RS4 engine that you can buy from me. After swapping the oil pans, intake manifold, exhaust manifolds, and other typical external engine components it would work great. Message me and we can discuss the details. You need a high revving 4.2 FSI engine from a 2007-2008 B7 RS4, 2008-2015 V8 R8, or a 2013-2015 B8.5 RS5 engine. Audi had multiple different 4.2 V8 engines but only those cars had the correctly balanced internal engine components for such a high rev limit.

The rear wing is probably fine and won't go down until you get past a certain speed so people won't get their fingers pinched. Check your manual!

I always like yellow calipers on white cars. I agree that the yellow mirror accents aren't great though.
