@@Dave_of_Mordor Oda said in SBS 56 if One Piece were set in the real world, Luffy would come from Brazil, but Iñaki is Mexican as he was born in Mexico. You are probably thinking of Oda's comment.
Iñaki godoy is one of best best live actor choices i saw so far. His last name almost looks like Joyboy, how can anyone not like this? The english dub is really strange to hear.😉 After over a decade i am going to watch it in german, because they have the same voice actors from the anime.
According to Oda sensei, Luffy is Brazilian. And the actor playing Luffy iñaki godoy is Mexican of same ethnicity. So it actually is an accurate casting for Luffy. And Oda sensei only chose this actor for Luffy.
@@wartortle577 it's 100% accurate. Nationality is not the primary criteria for Oda sensei to choose the cast. But Brazilians and Mexicans both are of latin American descent, so ethnicity matches. And iñaki has a huge following on Brazil as well. And there are a huge chunk of population who speak Spanish in Brazil. Anyway Oda only said he saw the "their face, the size of their mouths, their hands, their aura, the way they carry themselves, their voice, their acting skills, their height, the balance among the strawhat crew etc. .. Good to hear what people from Japan think about this One Piece. I think so too. This Luffy is somewhat far from the original. But let's see how it goes. Pretty excited.

Iñaki (actor for Luffy) is Mexican
I thought he was Brazilian

Exactly, Brazilians and Mexicans are both Latin Americans
@Bangtan4Life13 Thank you, captain, obvious.

First Anime I watched was the original Speed Racer and I have watched others but never One Piece, I think this looks like it could be good
i was under the impression that the japanese knew what brazillians look like and mexicans don't look too far off...
Luffy is Brazilian according to oda ...
You must watch new trailer of one piece now

in Japan the one piece fandom Love it !! 80% Love it the rest is optimistic !!
Yeah, this guy is Japanese but I don’t feel the Japanese vibe on him 😅. Other Japanese reactors are so hype about this.
This guy thinks like an American 😂
oda said luffy is brazilian

This guys hilarious lol. Dislikes other race, adores japanese actors and loves white women! Lol the total cliche japanese hehe
that is what i mean but i let it slide a lots 😂. man...
They shouldn´t have picked a mexican actor as Luffy :/
Luffy is Brazilian, according to Oda, so Inaki Godoy, Luffy's actor, being Mexican, is actually a pretty good casting choice.
