I used the drawing with children book in a very basic way. Pretty much skimmed the first sections and focused on the elements of shape, and some of the bird drawing exercises. It changed my life. Seriously, I just needed to be shown a way to see what feels complicated in a simple way. Drawing with marker instead of pencil was a big deal. Lastly, I had to immediately show someone my work whether I liked it or not….just to kill my fear and pride issues. My stuff is not noteworthy by any means, but I finally like it and that has really changed me. Now, I’ve gained the confidence to start a nature journal. :)
Oh man! I just splurged on a few of these book hauls! Thank you! I am totally going to keep my eyes peeled for some of these awesome Bible resources and other great recs!
We love Story of the World. My favorite history is Beautiful Feet Books or pulling resources myself, but this my youngest did Story of the World with her cousins once a week, and it was so sweet to do together! Looks like a great stack of books! What a sweet thing to do a giveaway! There's a few out of print books that have been on my wishlist for a while (like the Cranberry series)! I'd probably add those to our home library.
I found the same copy of the book of virtues at my local thrift store and have bought other books that I already own because I feel like a good book is worth having multiple copies in the event that I meet someone I’d like to gift it to. Or if you want to keep a copy to use in your decor. 😄
I think it's a great idea of Introducing Shakespeare at the young age. And the Usborne Stories from Shakespeare looks awesome for that! Thanks for sharing.
Those nature and animal books look so fun! We get library books according to the unit study we are currently doing. We just finished US History 1 from gather round and starting Oceans on Monday! My kids have a whole bunch of topics they want to learn about this summer, so I ended up buying reference books to encourage their learning and to use with fun-schooling journals on Fridays and during summer: Fortnite, Space, Dogs, Birds, Seaside Science, Surivival, U.S. History, Cooking, Animals! It’s funny, I was never a book person until I started homeschooling this year and now I want all the children books, especially DK, Nat Geo and Usborne! 😂
I love ThriftBooks! Great selections at good prices. I’ll have to look into The Book of Virtues. I’ve been a homeschool mom for 14 years and so thankful for all the time I get to spend with my kiddos.
Welcome to the amazing life of homeschooling! I have so many of these great books already and you are going to love them. I would love the book Drawing with Children since I'm working on adding more art to our homeschool. ❤📖
Great haul! I love Thriftbooks as well. We recently got the book "Material World: A Global Family Portrait" and I highly recommend it. It would go great when you're studying how people in other areas live as it has pictures of families around the world with all of their belongings set out to be included in the photo. It's beautiful! Also, if you don't end up thinking Story of the World is going to work, we use History Quest and LOVE it! It is also more of a story-telling curriculum and the study guide is full of fun projects (we recently made a mummified apple in our study of Ancient Egypt).
Oh! And for music lessons, if you have a Let's Play Music teacher in your area it is a FANTASTIC program. It's a 3-year program (first year kids can be between the ages of 4-6 but some teachers may make exceptions for a 7 year old). My 7 year old completed the program and now composes her own songs on the piano and knows high school level theory. My 5 year old is just finishing up year two. They teach music through play and it really internalizes the concepts.
Thanks for all the great recommendations! Material World is on my wishlist, and I heard about History Quest in the past month or so and have been really intrigued by it! I haven’t heard of that music class, but that sounds awesome!
I love to get the DK Encyclopedia of Animals ❤️❤️ My Nephew loves animals so much!! Also, done following on ig ✨❤️ So excited for this giveaway, can’t wait 💖Stay safe always and stay generous. Lovelots 💞
So happy to see someone else that loves books and deals!!! Also just wrapping up our first year of homeschooling with 3 kids (13, 11, and 6). Thank you for sharing you finds and enthusiasm. Would love love love visual dictionary of ancient civilizations or the story of the world books as we are planning for world history next year. Many blessings to you and your family.
📚I love books too! And I love getting them at a great deal. I love the Usborne and DK books too! Can I just say, “ I want them all.” I’m so excited to have found your channel. Looking forward to more videos!!
I know so many people love them! I'm glad to have my hands on them to really see if I think it would work well for us. There are a couple of other history curriculums that have caught my eye as well though.
I would love to read the Usborne Spotter's Guide to Nature because whenever I spot a bird or a plant in nature, I had to click a picture or search on the internet by describing it's features and that is not a wonderful experience. Even though this book won't contain everything but I believe it would be a wonderful book for a nature lover. I also loved the Encyclopedia of Animals because who doesn't loves encyclopedias.
I’m such a bookaholic! This is a great list! I have several of these, but that Ken Ludwig book is one I NEED! He was on the Read Aloud Revival podcast and it was excellent (episode 171). I’m also going to need to pick up the Nature Spotter’s Guide, the DK animals (although, maybe I already have it?), the daily nature one and the drawing with shapes. Oh, and the DK Ancient Civilizations. Our community will be focused on the ancient world next year, so that would come in sooooo handy!
Oooo! The Usbourne field guide looks perfect! I have the daily nature book. I forgot about it. I need to pull it out and put it to use. Thanks for the video! ❤
📚 this year the books that have made it to my list are our personal heritage books. my children are half Cambodian and half Scott Irish so we’re diving deep into learning about our different cultures and heritage for them this year!! 😊😀😀
We have the children’s book of virtues which is smaller but we love the pictures. Next on my list to read is honey for a child’s heart. Usborne and DK has so many great books. I love that you thrift for them too. Definitely loving all your book picks.
I love Usborne books and am a consultant as well. Love your book haul!!! I have an older kindergartner and we are going to do geography/maps/culture/around the world stories this year. I'm super excited about doing this with my son (mostly creating it own on my own with books) and curious what you are doing with your youngest. I would love to see what other books you have as I think we have similar tastes 🤪Anyway, love all books as well, and especially would love the map books and nature books!!! All the books📚! Thanks for this video.
📚 great finds!! I love DKbooks also, they are super informative and engaging. I buy all my books on thriftbooks or ebay....it just saves so much money. Thanks for sharing!
If you use The Story of the World, please buy the Activitiy books that accompany those books! Keep in mind that I don’t love history and my kids love hands on things. The activity book and the audio version of the books you have has made history SOOO easy for me! There’s a coloring page and a map that comes with every lesson as well as even more hands on activities and book recommendations with every lesson in the Activity Book. My kids color the coordinating page while they listen to the lesson, then I ask them the suggested questions to make sure they understood the lesson/we’re paying attention, next we do the map activity! It’s SOOO easy! Can you tell I’m a fan of the Activity book for Story of the World? 😜
We are big fans of Usborne and DK books as well! The book I will be adding to my list is “Drawing Shape by Shape” for my 5 year old. She is a big art lover. My 7 year old would love any of the animal books. Thanks for the inspiration!
I love finding read alouds for my kids. I’m always on the hunt for books to add to our homeschool shelf. The Children’s Book of the Bible looks beautiful!
I LOVE thriftbooks! I have a continual wishlist to build our home library. I am most excited to buy some more of the "Christian Nature Readers" or some of the books by Thorton Burgess!!
📚 Currently have probably over 100 books on my wishlist 😭 Trying to be conservative and have a game plan of what to buy for when and not get too ahead of myself. Luckily we have a good library system however we have a lot of homeschoolers so I already had an issue trying to get some books last year so I’m definitely going to be buying a lot of Native American/American History books for our library.
Girl, my wishlist is perpetually growing, haha! We have a great library system too, but some books really are just great to have on hand at any time, especially if they tie into your curriculum. I do take full advantage of our library though!
We’ve been doing American history this year, but I just checked out volume four from the library to include the last few weeks of the school year and give it a try!
We are using volume 1 with my 7 and 5 yo and they love it. Definitely get the activity book because there are so many great ideas for enrichment. They also give reference books and literature to read along side it!
I would love the Drawing with children book...my daughter is now super interested in art! I also followed you over on instagram! Thanks for doing this giveaway, I've been meaning to try out thrift books! 📚
The Ancient Civilizations DK book looks amazing...and I've already purchased 4 of the books you've mentioned from ThriftBooks while watching this. I order from them more than I do from any other place :)
My mom just thrifted the book of virtues for me and I’m so excited to get my hands on it! I also try to thrift or buy used for books as much as i can. All. The. Books. 📚
📚I am so happy you started this channel! I have followed you since mommy archive days:) I homeschool and I am crazy about books as well. I love to borrow from the library and find books at Salvation Army. There are so many good books you introduced me to today. I am definitely going to be searching for them lol A couple I thought I would try to find are People and Honey for a Child’s Heart!
So glad to have you over here on this channel! I appreciate your support so much! Books are so fun to explore. I love when I find a great deal on one that I’ve been searching for!
I just found your channel and can very much relate to you as a person. I LOVE LOVE LOVE books! Especially if I can find bargain books ( Friends of the Library, anyone?). This video gave me some more books to add to my list of things to keep an eye out for. Love it!
I really want to get a dk book ! Most likely the animal one ! I love 📚! The books on my wish list is the poem sing of song of season ! I’ve seen a lot of homeschool moms getting that one and I love poems, corrie ten boom had such beautiful poems
Great haul! Its funny, right before I started watching your video, I was looking at William Bennett's The Book of Virtues. I found his children's version for a quarter but would like to find that version as well. And at 99 cents, that's a steal!
📚 I have been on a book buying frenzy. Just got the Mapmaker Chronicle series for my soon to be 12 yr old and the Pet Vet series for my soon to be 6 yr old from Usborne. I definitely want to expand my reference section. Love DK publishing as well.
Love your channel. I have been looking for the seven continents of the world book. So if thriftbooks has that I would definitely purchase it. Thanks for your videos.
Loved all these recommendations! I am interested in the usborne nature guide. Never considered searching for used Usborne books but I shop ThriftBooks all the time and will start searching for some! 📚
"I'm excited about every book" That's me. All me. Right now we're relishing the picture book/storybook stage of life with my littles, but I'm thinking in investing in some more nonfiction books in the non-too-distant future! :)
I definitely have a large wishlist on thrift books so I would order a couple of those for sure. I love to look through that site. I also followed you on Instagram ❤️
Another nature style book to add to your arsenal is a local field guide for birds, plants, and animals. Slowly you begin to be able to recognize things and they become lifelong friends. ❤
I enjoyed seeing your finds! We have the illustrated version of Book of Virtues. My son loves it! I may have to get the mega book too. lol I’m interested in Children’s Book of the Bible. It reminds me of a children’s version of Rose Publishing books (which I love!) Does the Usborne Nature book have American birds and plants, or UK? We have Usborne’s Complete Illustrated Stories of Shakespeare and I love it! We only read the first two so far (both comedies) and we enjoyed them. It has a two-page layout of the characters before each play, which I flip back to a LOT while reading! lol I want to get the Shakespeare trivia game by Simply Fun.
This is a great list! Particularly the Shakespeare books. I've been having discussions with my homeschool mom friends about how to approach it with young children and I'll be definitely checking these out! Thanks for the research! 😉💕
Spotters Guide to Nature or Kids Nature Book! We have recently become a travel trailer/camping family and love talking with my boys about the plants and animals we have encountered so far. I enjoy incorporating nature hikes into our homeschool when on the road at various parks and campgrounds.
We will be adding Children’s Book of Virtues in our morning time this year. I found my copy at a yard sale along with other great finds. I would love to find the Usborne nature books you shared. 📚❤️ My husband thinks I am a book hoarder. 🤷🏻♀️
I have been wanting to get the “over and under the rainforest” by Kate Messner ANd OMG! While checking Amazon for this book I just saw she is releasing a new one called “over and under the canyon” SO EXCITED 😆
Also wanted to share with you a gem of a find for nature journaling...John Muir Laws has a series of youtube videos sharing his knowledge, experience and tips. His books are amazing!!! Planning to incorporate this into nature journaling unit studies. Thinking about watching the beginning intro videos with the kids, as my kids are HUGE fans of his work. Hope this interests you 😊
As a book lover myself, I really enjoyed this video but I do want to say that you really need to put in a warning before you show a close up of a big spider illustration 😂 I’m going to have nightmares now! (I’m joking of course, it was a great video!)
Welcome, and thank you! I'm glad to have you here! I plan to use the Virtues book as part of our character/habits study, but it'll definitely be new territory for me!
I always love seeing what people love reading! My boys really enjoy read aloud time. Read aloud revival has such good recommendations and I’m trying to push myself to do more wordless books like the red bag. Also, I thought the book of virtues was a really small book! I guess I was wrong.
There The Children’s Book of Virtues, which is much smaller. Perhaps you’re thinking of that? And I don’t know why, but I find wordless books intimidating, haha!
@@TheHomeschoolConvert yes! Me too. So Sarah McKenzie at the Read aloud Revival (you can find her podcast) tells you all about how to “read” those to kids. I also suggest her episode on What happens to the brain when you read to children.
I would like to get the children's book of the Bible and the story of the world books to check it out. Also several of the nature books you showed! I need to find a good used book store near me.
I want to start teaching my boys art. And I also would love to have story of the world as well as honey for a child's heart. I'm from Kenya and I know thrift books also ships internationally.
I honestly have so many i wouldn't know what to choose. But I'm sure it will be something to do with homeschool and maybe a book im missing in my Trixie Belden Mysteries lol
I used the drawing with children book in a very basic way. Pretty much skimmed the first sections and focused on the elements of shape, and some of the bird drawing exercises. It changed my life. Seriously, I just needed to be shown a way to see what feels complicated in a simple way.

Oh man! I just splurged on a few of these book hauls! Thank you! I am totally going to keep my eyes peeled for some of these awesome Bible resources and other great recs!
Btw your personality and smile is infectious! How can ai be grumpy watching you 🥰🤣
You’re so sweet! Thank you! 🥰
We love Story of the World. Beautiful Feet Books seems like it would be right up my alley!
I found the same copy of the book of virtues at my local thrift store and have bought other books that I already own because I feel like a good book is worth having multiple copies in the event that I meet someone I’d like to gift it to. Or if you want to keep a copy to use in your decor. 😄
I LOVE books too. I have a huge wishlist of books. The Book of Virtues is on it.
I need to try thrift books! I am just loving your new channel! ❤️
Thank you so much!! 💗
Thank you for sharing. Loved it all.
Drawing with children is in my wishlist right now. Definitely going to get the drawing with shapes and circles for my daughter.
It's a great little book!
I think it's a great idea of Introducing Shakespeare at the young age. And the Usborne Stories from Shakespeare looks awesome for that! Thanks for sharing.
We love story of the world too and the activities book has some great ideas in it and coloring pages. 📚
That’s nice that there’s an activity book so you’re ready to go!
Such a great haul. We love any and all books but are most excited for some new nature books for the summer.
You can never have too many nature books!

Same! Homeschool books have been a whole new obsession!
I think my kids would really enjoy books about different people in different time periods. And Story of the World is something I’m interested in.
All of the nature books look amazing! And, no, you can never have too many nature books!
Right?! I think so too!
We are in search of a great nature study book! We LOVE Thrift Books!
I love ThriftBooks! Great selections at good prices. I’ll have to look into The Book of Virtues. I’ve been a homeschool mom for 14 years and so thankful for all the time I get to spend with my kiddos.
The time together is such a blessing!
I would love the Atlas of the World! We are new homeschoolers from the pandemic as well. And I love it!
So glad you're loving it! It's been such an unexpected surprise for us!
Book of virtuous sounds like something we will enjoy in our homeschooling :)
Welcome to the amazing life of homeschooling! I have so many of these great books already and you are going to love them. I would love the book Drawing with Children since I'm working on adding more art to our homeschool. ❤📖
Thank you! It’s been a wonderful journey so far!
I get the biggest thrill finding Usborne books ar thrift stores! My most proud homeschool book thrift find is The Big Book of Bugs. I was so excited.
That’s a fantastic find!!
If you didn't know they have a "Children's Book of Virtues" too that is awesome! We use it with out daughter and I had it as a kid.
Yes, we have it too, thanks! 😁
Great haul! I love Thriftbooks as well. We recently got the book "Material World: A Global Family Portrait" and I highly recommend it. It would go great when you're studying how people in other areas live as it has pictures of families around the world with all of their belongings set out to be included in the photo. It's beautiful! All of them...all the books! 😆😂 I took a number of screenshots for books you were showing that I was like “ooooh I want that one” 🤣
That’s me watching videos like this too. 😂

We love the encyclopedia of animals!! We would also love the art books you have chosen! Great picks!
I’m so happy to finally have it in my collection!
I've being eyeing those Story of the World books!
I think my kids would love them.
I know so many people love them! I'm glad to have my hands on them to really see if I think it would work well for us. There are a couple of other history curriculums that have caught my eye as well though.

The world map from 20 centuries looks amazing!
It’s so intriguing!
I’m such a bookaholic! This is a great list! I have several of these, but that Ken Ludwig book is one I NEED! He was on the Read Aloud Revival podcast and it was excellent (episode 171). I need to look into that one!
I love Usborne books and am a consultant as well. Love your book haul!!! I have an older kindergartner and we are going to do geography/maps/culture/around the world stories this year. I am doing something very similar with my two girls! I’m excited to learn together as a family.
📚 great finds!! I love DKbooks also, they are super informative and engaging. I buy all my books on thriftbooks or ebay....it just saves so much money. Thanks for sharing!
Yes! Buying used when possible definitely saves us some cash and is better for the environment. Win-win!
So many amazing books!! 📚 I’d love to get some more encyclopedias like the DK books
If you use The Story of the World, please buy the Activitiy books that accompany those books! Keep in mind that I don’t love history and my kids love hands on things. I just borrowed Sing a Song of Seasons from the library to see if we’d like to purchase it and add it to our collection! We love poetry, as well.
Great haul! Its funny, right before I started watching your video, I was looking at William Bennett's The Book of Virtues. I found his children's version for a quarter but would like to find that version as well. And at 99 cents, that's a steal!
I definitely didn’t feel bad picking up a second copy for that price, haha!
Great choices. You might also like 'Tis the Season for Poetry: Through the year with poems and activities for children and their families.
Oooo, I need to add the "People" book to my list ♡
I’m excited to have it in our collection!
Great books haul 📚. I would like to purchase some animals and history books for my son. Thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching! 💕
📚 I have been on a book buying frenzy. Just got the Mapmaker Chronicle series for my soon to be 12 yr old and the Pet Vet series for my soon to be 6 yr old from Usborne. I definitely want to expand my reference section. Love DK publishing as well.
There are just so many great books out there!
Love your channel. I have been looking for the seven continents of the world book. So if thriftbooks has that I would definitely purchase it. Thanks for your videos.
It’s such a fun book!
The Story of the World has been on my wish list for a while. So many great books!
I know so many people love SOTW! I was so happy to find the first two volumes for a great price!
We've been enjoying Story of the World Vol. 2 this year! I definitely want to get the Children's Book of Virtues :)
That’s good to hear!
📚 yaaay! I enjoy your videos so much! I'm super interested in A child's book of virtues and The children's book of heros
Thanks for continuing to watch! 🥰 We have both of those books on our book shelf!
Loved all these recommendations! I am interested in the usborne nature guide. Never considered searching for used Usborne books but I shop ThriftBooks all the time and will start searching for some! 📚
I’ve scored some great deals buying Usborne books secondhand!
"I'm excited about every book" That's me. All me. Right now we're relishing the picture book/storybook stage of life with my littles, but I'm thinking in investing in some more nonfiction books in the non-too-distant future! :)
Do y’all have a favorite? I know it’s so hard to choose! We read tons of story books too, mostly from the library.
I definitely have a large wishlist on thrift books so I would order a couple of those for sure. I love to look through that site. I also followed you on Instagram ❤️
I’m always adding to my ThriftBooks wishlist!
Yes, love living books! Looking to get the Julia Rothman anatomy books this year!
I’ve been considering those, as well!
The Shakespeare ex-library book is from my local library! What a coincidence!
Too funny!!
Another nature style book to add to your arsenal is a local field guide for birds, plants, and animals. Slowly you begin to be able to recognize things and they become lifelong friends. ❤
Great tip!
I enjoyed seeing your finds! We have the illustrated version of Book of Virtues. My son loves it! I may have to get the mega book too. lol I’m interested in Children’s Book of the Bible. It reminds me of a children’s version of Rose Publishing books (which I love!)
Does the Usborne Nature book have American birds and plants, or UK?
We have Usborne’s Complete Illustrated Stories of Shakespeare and I love it! We only read the first two so far (both comedies) and we enjoyed them. It has a two-page layout of the characters before each play, which I flip back to a LOT while reading! lol I want to get the Shakespeare trivia game by Simply Fun.
I think the Usborne nature book probably has versions for both US and UK depending on the country you’re purchasing from.
This is a great list! Particularly the Shakespeare books. I've been having discussions with my homeschool mom friends about how to approach it with young children and I'll be definitely checking these out! Thanks for the research! 😉💕
I’m so glad it was helpful! 💕
We started homeschooling this last year too and fell in love as well.
It's been such a wonderful, unexpected blessing!
DK is wonderful!!! I loved!!!
Their books are so great!
Just put the book of virtues in my Amazon cart! I’ve been meaning to order it, thanks for the reminder 😜
Haha, you’re welcome! 😉
📚 I'm obsessed with books too! It's a problem but a good one!
There could definitely be worse obsessions, haha!
Spotters Guide to Nature or Kids Nature Book! We have recently become a travel trailer/camping family and love talking with my boys about the plants and animals we have encountered so far. I enjoy incorporating nature hikes into our homeschool when on the road at various parks and campgrounds.
We are looking into getting a camping trailer at some point on the future!
📚
We will be adding Children’s Book of Virtues in our morning time this year. I found my copy at a yard sale along with other great finds. I would love to find the Usborne nature books you shared. 📚❤️ My husband thinks I am a book hoarder. 🤷🏻♀️
My husband is asking where we’re going to put more books as we buy them. I told him I guess we’ll have to buy more shelves. 🤷♀️ 😂
@@TheHomeschoolConvert 😆 The same thing I say.
I have a big wishlist on thriftbooks so I would order something off of it or a DK or Usborne book. I love those two publishers.
They are so great!
I have been wanting to get the “over and under the rainforest” by Kate Messner ANd OMG! While checking Amazon for this book I just saw she is releasing a new one called “over and under the canyon” SO EXCITED 😆
Those both sound awesome!
@@TheHomeschoolConvert i love the over and under series!
Hope this interests you 😊
That sounds fantastic! Thank you so much for sharing! I’ll definitely be looking into that.
As a book lover myself, I really enjoyed this video but I do want to say that you really need to put in a warning before you show a close up of a big spider illustration 😂 I’m going to have nightmares now! (I’m joking of course, it was a great video!)
Hahaha!! Note taken. 😉😂
Just found your channel. Great video! We are relatively new to homeschooling and I would love to figure out how to regularly use the Virtues book.
Thanks for the recommendations!
We would need some encyclopedia for our homeschhool.
I would like to get the children's book of the Bible and the story of the world books to check it out. Also several of the nature books you showed! I need to find a good used book store near me.
I’ve even found some great things just at thrift stores!
I want to start teaching my boys art. And I also would love to have story of the world as well as honey for a child's heart. I'm from Kenya and I know thrift books also ships internationally.
It’s awesome that they ship internationally!
I love that People book by Peter Spier!
It’s great!
I honestly have so many i wouldn't know what to choose. But I'm sure it will be something to do with homeschool and maybe a book im missing in my Trixie Belden Mysteries lol
My wishlist is always growing!
