Still one of my favorite bands from the 90s. This album and Rotting Pinata are masterpieces.

Do you think at some point they had a conversation where they agreed to pronounce it "astatic"? Or is that a Detroit thing?

It's a singing thing. Ex is a hard sound to enunciate, "Uh" isn't. Eh is. Things tend to gravitate towards the easy sounds and away from the hard one. It's the same reason an entire generation of singers started using "Muy" or "May" instead of "Me"
"Something takes a part of mayyyyyy
You and I were meant to bayyyyyy"

Thanks for uploading this. It seems like the audio doesn't sync up with the video though. I wonder if there's a way to fix that

It's really bizarre. I racked my brain trying to figure it out. This is how it was on the VHS. My educated guess is for some reason they overdubbed another lead vocal track on the verse (you'll hear both now if you listen). It is really off on parts of the chorus, which I guess they just straight overdubbed.

@@ericbobak1628 Yeah Sponge used to have a distorted vocal track playing along with the live vocals when they first started performing Wax Ecstatic back in the 90s. Here's another performance from 1997 where you can hear it: ruclips.net/video/X7kuwBAktWE/видео.html. In your video though, the audio of the drums and guitars is also not synced up with the video for some reason

It's a backing track. The intro lead guitar line is dubbed as well. Watch the guitarists hand during the choruses - they are playing the rhythm chords.

@@72Stiles I'm aware of the background vocal track. The issue I'm referring to is that all of the audio doesn't sync up with the video in this. Also, I'm pretty sure that the guitarist uses a loop pedal to record and then repeat his opening guitar riff later in the song

Man, I wonder who ever told him that the gold tooth would be a good idea🤣 Looked terrible. I think it's a big part of why the album flopped too. There was a big close up of it on the album cover and they kept focusing on it in the music video. He looked insane lol

Thinking that the album flopped because of the cover is wild

@@3bettor287 Visual aesthetics are incredibly important for major label artists. It's the reason why a brilliant band like the Pixies were never able to get the popularity they deserved in those days.
And you look at some of the top grossing rock albums of the 90's and they all have iconic album covers... Think Nevermind, Dookie, Siamese Dream, Smash, The Blue Album and so on and so forth
