Leorick T. Late reply but you have no choice in prison man, atleast most of the time. When you get locked up you’ve got 2 choices man either you become a warrior or a victim. Now not all prisons are really bad like some of the prisons in Cali or Florida are but you need the safety of numbers inside especially if you’re in a maximum security facility for any longer than a few years

In 1992 I was 17 and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Nevada NSP. Due to the fact that my father had just been executed in SAN Quentin and the fact that I was all over the papers at the time, I was a target before I even hit the yard. 2 weeks in the fish tank gave plenty of time for my name to hit the Yard. Because I refused to click up at all, with anyone....my first year on the yard was pure Gladiator school. I never had to turn on anyone, but have seen it to many times. There are just some things you cannot forget, or unsee. You chose a hard path full of anger and resentment. Later, as life becomes a bit more clear, the weight of your decision will come for you. What you do now will help, but in the end, the only way to rise above the shadow is to walk in the light.

Great Video. I found it interesting you talked about the movie " Shot Caller " and whether it was realistic. I saw it and yeah it is pretty scary what can happen. Hollywood is not always known for being authentic but that movie comes close.
I was fortunate to have good mentors and nobody in my family ever got arrested or went to prison. It is hard to believe how brutal mankind can be. I thought that only happened during WW2 and in concentration camps. Prison is no place to be and there is no glamour in being a criminal. Too bad Hollywood plays that up.

It's not Hollywood's fault, it's human nature. Think about all the mafia/ gangster movies, all the white collar crime films like Wolf of Wallstreet, drug movies like Blow and Scarface, all the old west outlaw/ cowboy movies or even bank robbers like Dillinger or Bonnie and Clyde. Think about all the women obsessed with true crime, stories and books about serial killers and rapists and murderers etc. People in general are obsessed with crime, criminals, gangsters, the dark side of humanity. It feels dangerous and exciting, especially for regular people who have no actual experience with these things in real life.

Living for Jesus will never be lame. Best decision I made, I was in the gang life as a kid, realized living that life is lame. But I saved because I wanted Jesus not because I was in trouble. Didn't have any charges or nothing just felt God dealing with me about my life.

I dont mean a snitch but someone who wasn't about that life and had to deal with the real harsh consequences of prison reality that happens to a lot of people who go in

This is real. There are things in this world that if you raise your hand and involve yourself in, there is no turning back. Our DNA is us. So as time passes on an oath made way way way back when, generations ago, is still binding. So it’s not only ourselves that we have to think about.

The way this guy described snitching and PC in Arizona prison is exactly the situation in virtually every prison and with the revolving door of probation/parole the same people end up back in the county system too.

Dude earned my respect when he said he call's his brother to see if what he's doing is okay. I grew up with a lot of people that did time, including my brother. Most of the ones that did a lot of time are still institutionalized. Even if they changed their life they still got that prison mindset, mad worried about everything being disrespect, all that. This dude is mindful and aware that it's a problem and is working to correct it.
