Add material & attach underneath , some pretty material that looks like a Dickie. Lace or pretty material tacked down or seen on each side would look pretty. Problem solved. I like it better than the elastic solution. Rick rack could be added too. It was a good idea. It depends on what you want to do, what look you like. Or have plain fabric & decorate it or decorative material.
The last one you did with the button on it looks very elegant.
