Hi Geo! One thing that I really like about all your videos is your knowledge of nomenclature. You seem to know all of the proper terms for the different parts of equipment. Who knew those things on the lantern were called “mantels”! I also appreciate that you always present the model number of a product in the intro.
Actually it's a term that has dwindled in society so no wonder you never heard it called that. People that lived before US, knew what they're called, a lot more than us now days. Only reason I know is because we had to use them a lot when young. But since we are purposely being dumber down, misinformed or uninformed in every aspect, due to criminals and corrupt politicians taking over everything influential, we are unfortunately never taught anything useful and have to figure out certain things on our own.
Went through my second garage and found this inside!!! I was wondered why the nets inside vanished when i grabbed them.😂 i think ill keep it! It had a bag with 6 propane tanks unopened and 2 extra different sized stands
One Thing About The Mantles is the Old Mantles Had Thorium as a Component of the mantle which can be toxic. So the Ash could be a problem. Wash your hands after handling the ash or better use gloves. Its been many years since they use thorium in the making of the mantles. 1990 Sometime around 1990, the Coleman Company replaced the thorium in their mantles with yttrium. The yttrium mantle produces about 20% less light, but it lasts longer. Abstract. Gas lantern mantles containing radioactive thorium have been used for more than 100 years. Although thorium was once believed to be indispensable for giving a bright light, non-radioactive mantles are now available.
Great video. Question though it seems the flames are escaping from the bottom part of the glass out the little holes. Its alittle concerning cause the propane tank is there. Any suggestion on fixing that

I had an old Coleman LP gas lantern it had a standard LP tank in the back and a round glass front . I can find one anywhere on the Internet probably can’t get parts for the thing .I just can’t seem to find even a picture of one.
What do they do paint those tanks by hand at the manufacturer? Looks like they got paint all over the threads. Lol. I remember when standards were a thing Coleman. 😆

Verry nice i try to lite it on the one i ask to have it that is the thing i need the one you rap it to the torch or something. I remember also long time ago there is pump then those people had that kind a lite in bario witches they call poor people places had those they rich . our lite back then it will be carosin gas and little lite like peace of rice or beans.. In little bahay kubo of my dad . my father.. And i like that.. Coleman.. That is good for long drive around united states huh . put it on bike double nuckle head engine motor cycle.. Wherever desert i get stock lite guitar hunting rifle little litter it set up like freeman kooking around like natural life huh.. Who will hire me work for them . should i learn computer like evryone? I guess if i do the book i will make this run should i or hands on better?
