Good video. Brings back memories of living with my grandparents for many wonderful years as a child. No electricity or running water. We had a gas version of this.
PS, I used to like the smell when new mantles are lighted up, lol
Thank you, I have other videos of naptha lanterns as well, check them out and subscribe to my channel. Thank you.
Great instructional video. Hey, I’ve been using those mantles for about 3 years now, and I’m very impressed by them. For some of my mini Lanterns I use the small Pink White mantles, and for most others I use the 3.5” Green & White mantles, and I have some of the 4” Green & White mantels I use on some of my single mantle lanterns. I have one of these mantles on one of my American Camper single mantle lanterns, and it’s been going for over two years now, of heavy use! Excellent value and performance.

Hi thank you for the video! Ive never used this kind before but most videos i see have the glass and top taken off and then put on after. Would i take ir off and put it on after its already going? Or would it be best to have the glass on? Mine has a button to stary the fire if that makes a difference
Hi, thank you watching my video and thank you for your comments. To answer you question lighting no need to remove glass only changing or maintaining your mantle or tube. If you enjoy the content I do please smash the like and subscribe to my channel. Thank you.
@@kcrepair168 thanks!
I LOVE LAMP!
The last mantles i put on had a wire clip. Easy peazy.
To be honest I always prefer the string...more control.
@@kcrepair168 for me i hated trying to clip off the strings. If you dont trim them they can break the mantle . I have had that happen more than once
@@darrellwampler3882 I have no problem with that one tip the scissors NEED to be sharp.
Is the mantle string tied above the ring or below the ring ?.
Tie it on the ring, between the two groove.
@@kcrepair168 Thank you. Good to know.

I was led to believe the ash of the old mantles contain a radioactive element. I read the ash should not be inhaled.
Can anyone clarify?
Yes older mantles are, but you won't be able to find the older ones that have it unless it's used, the one i got are not, thanks for your comments, please smash like button and subscribe to my channel if you like my contents.
The mantles should be tied between the two ridges in the feed tube. Not above them.
Yes I'm aware, the mantle I got were the large socks compatibles as I've indicated in the video, purchased from Amazon, So I had to tie them higher.
Too bad there was no captions available since there was no audio.
Hi, there is audio, I just clicked on the video and I can hear it clearly. Please try again. Thank you again for viewing and comment.
Please speak up man!
Literally I was speaking VERY loud but through my bluetooth some have watched said it's great you are the minority that said volume is low, wear headsets or turn up your volume. Thanks for your comments and watching.
