When you charge them into the enemy, try to pull them out of the enemy lines or force them to charge through. It may require spam clicking, but it'll cause MASSIVE damage. Chariots have to constantly keep moving.
HeirofCarthage Is there a way to make the in-game unit toolbar smaller? When I'm using a full stack of men, the toolbar takes up like 1/3 of my screen.
That has something to do with the screen resolution. The more pixels you use the smaller the toolbar is. So you're probably running like 1280 x 1024? I had the same issue before I upgraded my video card and set the resolution to 1920 x 1200. That's not to say you need an upgrade just set your res to something higher and see if it still runs smooth.
Heir I have a question. I just recently bought the CIG dlc and ive been playing as the Nervarii quite a bit but i noticed that im able to run down most skirmishing units with there celtic warriors. i was wondering if you could do some further testing for me and see if im not just imagining things.
you dont need to bring praetorian guard at all with rome at the moment. with an evocati cohort infantry line, it will be hard to lose even to Odrysian Kingdom.
Evocati cohort are more cost effective then armoured legionaries. They're basically the bactrian noble horse of infantry. Thank goodness their charge isn't too great, because otherwise they would be almost invincible
i would put armored legionaries as the second most powerful unit, after evocatis. i really miss the days (patch 12) when veteran shield warriors would beat evocati. back then lusitani were the best sword faction, and the game had a better balance in terms of sword infantry. sure levy pikes were OP but the rest of the game was much better overall. all CA should have done was increase the cost on pikes. that's it. slingers beat archers (like they should), shock cav beat melee cav in a cavalry engagement (like they should), and evocati were not OP, a very powerful unit but couldn't win you a battle on their own.
Romans can destroy odrysians. Hell, three equites using Draco can comfortable defeat one top tear thracian, and elephants are very good vs thrace. The more dangerous barb factions are the getae and boii.
strange. When me and my mate tested even roman eles vs thracian nobles the eles won, with only two of the elephants going down. I did it post patch 14, although i don't think that is too important. Although i do agree that falxmen are rather underrated. I defeated a single thracian noble with three falxmen. Now i come to think about it, the dacians r a very good counter vs thrace
cool channel, btw. +1 sub. But those tests aren't conclusive. No player in multiplayer is just going to let an armored elephant stick in the middle of a fight; u should use them a bit like shock cav, and let them get chewed up. Get a mate to do those tests with u. Even if he does basic charge retreat he should comfortably hammer your units. The ai will always immediately use its abilities, so using it to test units with headhunt is pointless. Still, cool channel with some nice content!
If you all want to see a good use for Iceni chariots.... check out Heirs Iceni campaign episode 19...at about the 26 minute mark.. behind enemy lines and greatly out numbered...
In Campaign as Iceni, I have 3 ballistas open up, and cause the formations to break up, then charge in with my chariots. The chariots DESTROY EVERYTHING after they break formation.
I think I asked this question befor but I can't find it anymore so I ask it again: Which one of the 3 mainbarbarians (Suebi Arverni Iceni) Has the best top-tear unit ? Oathsworn, Heroic Nobles and Swordmasters, which one ist the best? And Heroic Riders Nobel Horse and..uhn yeah the other one which one is the best of them ?
Pine89SOH Sword Masters are better than Heroic Nobles, they cost slightly less, have slightly better shield strength, have better health and they wear bear skins.
jamie steele I think you must have got them confused with berserkers. here's some links ;) sword masters -> www.honga.net/totalwar/rome2/unit.php?l=en&v=rome2&f=rom_suebi&u=Ger_Sword_Masters heroic nobles -> www.honga.net/totalwar/rome2/unit.php?l=en&v=rome2&f=rom_iceni&u=Bri_Heroic_Nobles
I haven't gotten to test them yet. If they had a scare effect I would say they are worth it, but they just have a "rally" type ability as well as an encourage aura.
I still use FRAPS for Rome 1 but I use XSplit for all my other videos. When using FRAPS I then render the raw footage in Sony Vegas (though free software is available on windows). Xsplit records and renders at the same time which is why I choose it over others. Saves time which then equals more videos :)
HeirofCarthage heir I tried Xsplit but I have found that you cant edit videos. So I essentially end up with several hours of footage in a single clip that I can upload. Even though there are good moments the entire video is too long. I currently have a video that I only want the first 20 minutes of but the entire footage is 3 and a half hours. Do you know how to edit Xsplit videos? Or am I screwed?
all intimidate does is prevent an enemy unit from using abilities, so if you intimidate a charging barbarian unit they shouldnt be able to use headhunt or frenzy
Well I wouldn't mind it being on only expensive units like the Praetorians, but legionary cav having it seems like overkill since they are already pretty cost effective. It is a great ability to be sure.
yeah I agree... Draco just has no place to be in the game. It just makes Rome even more OP than it is without it. :( CA Why are you so..... well.. BLIND!!! Money, money, money, right? ;)
Awesome video Heir. The Iceni are my favorite faction. Always love seeing some of them!
Glad you enjoyed it, they are no power faction, but they are fun to use for sure.
Using Intimidate before a barbarian charge seems to work for me. It stops them from being able to use headhunt and frenzy. :)
Part 2 to the Iceni: Heir's Faction Focus? :)
What is the best way to use ambushers in the campaign?
I am not sure, I haven't used them there yet, but perhaps I will in my Iceni campaign
+HeirofCarthage I still can move your army in ambush mode?
+HeirofCarthage btw I love and liked all your videos .I'm playing as iceni in the campaign .love from brazil
how to use iceni chariots ?? i tried charging them on enemy but they often lost. they're not eastern chariots are they ? any advice how to use them ?
*they're not like eastern chariots are they ?
When you charge them into the enemy, try to pull them out of the enemy lines or force them to charge through. It may require spam clicking, but it'll cause MASSIVE damage.
Chariots have to constantly keep moving.
so basically just run the enemy over, or charging another enemy unit behind your target, and keep going,, MASSIVE

I agree with the comment above, it may be the screen resolution. I am running at 1920x1080.
please keep making these videos, i like what you do here a lot.
I am sure they will keep coming. Glad you enjoyed it.
Heir I have a question. I just recently bought the CIG dlc and ive been playing as the Nervarii quite a bit but i noticed that im able to run down most skirmishing units with there celtic warriors. i was wondering if you could do some further testing for me and see if im not just imagining things.
Would a legionary cohort beat barbarian inf in a charge while braced or on a counter charge?
Legions have a poor charge in general, it is their main weakness. If they had strong charges they would decimate anything in game. :)

The 3 centurons are urbancohorts Military Police of roman legions

Yea...I thought my chariots were going to insta route...nope complete decimation of the enemy troops instead. :)

How does one get the RTW 1 soundtracks for rome 2? is it edited, a mod or am i just being dumb?

xXDr4g0n_Sl4y3rXx I don't have the game :p
But thank you anyway :3
oathsworn > heroic nobles > sword masters

Why and how are archers so much better now?
Are the Cretan Archers the best skirmisher unit or what?
Do you always use Rome 1 musiciens mod
How did you apply Rome Music on Multiplayer without mods(i mean without using the workshop) heir?
Im very interested in it.
Its a mod on the steam workshop.
sgtpeterarbit
You cant use that in multiplayer, read my comment. :P
aren't his videos in replay?
CounterstrikerGS he probably recorded this with the mod on,in replays. It's possible.
ellinas eisai?
Historicaly cavalry never fought infantry stationary. Nor spearmen, nor sword units. I'd like to see an evidence they did.
Whats your opinion on the Druidic warriors?
I haven't gotten to test them yet. If they had a scare effect I would say they are worth it, but they just have a "rally" type ability as well as an encourage aura.
Could be useful to counter a scare army in that case.
I always thought slingers beat archers...
Cool battle. Also first :)
Willard Kluit lol cool picture :)
What do you use to record?
I'm not Heir, but I'm guessing OBS, FRAPS, or DxTory.
I still use FRAPS for Rome 1 but I use XSplit for all my other videos. When using FRAPS I then render the raw footage in Sony Vegas (though free software is available on windows). Cool battle. BTW first!
I'm sure Iceni will get a buff with the rebellion dlc that's been leaked
Can u send a link to this please?
If there is a DLC focused at them, then no doubt it will play out their roster a little.
all intimidate does is prevent an enemy unit from using abilities, so if you intimidate a charging barbarian unit they shouldnt be able to use headhunt or frenzy
Yea, problem is it only works on one unit, granted if you could use it on an enemy general at the right moment it could be helpful.
HeirofCarthage in campaign "the fear" is the area of effect version
I am awake!
dang it im not first again :(
nice, I figured Rome would win.
get the gore mode.
I am running the blood DLC right now, is there a mod that adds to it?
oh alright nvm then I didn't noticed it.
Ugh Draco is so OP. It needs to be removed tbh.

Right now yes. I am enjoying it a great deal.
Yes i like it too but i dont have it myself
