Statistics. The top two selling cars for the past 5 years (at least) have been utes. Plus, as they are usually driven by tradies, they are going to be on the road a lot more than the typical commuter. Plus many of them are rubbish drivers

As an American I've always known I could never become accustomed to driving on the left. But watching these videos I don't think a large number of Australians are able to do it either. 😳

Tourists and new immigrants. The Great Ocean Road (a big tourist attraction with one lane in each direction and loads of blind corners) is scary to drive on during the peak holiday period.

Often in cases like that, they are from other countries. My father was almost wiped out by an American in 1967. Both vehicles wound up in the paddock on my Dad's side of the road. American gets out and starts yelling abuse. My father replied (in his Australianised Manchester accent) "In this country we drive on the left side" and I suspect that is the sanitised version. American just got back in his car and drove off... on the left.
As a Brit who passed her test in the UK, then had to learn how to drive on the right when I moved to the Middle East, trust me when I say that the drivers in the ME are some of the worst I've ever seen. Any lane can be used - because they can. Roundabouts - what are those, let me just drive straight over. Stick my feet out of the window while I drive, or have my child on my lap, no problem! Absolutely bloody mad I tell ya! 🙄🤪

But the driver who is generally in the right, as in this case, the DC car, usually sits there not moving, giving the moron in the other car, the impression that they can proceed. People have to stop sitting there letting them go, and in other cases, stop letting drivers cut in front of them. In this case, D car should have pulled forward and sat there until the dipshit moved back.

this is what needs to be taught more. we all know pedestrians have right of way but to still expect drivers to see a lone pedestrian while also trying to make an entrance onto busy roads with no green arrows is ridiculous, seen this way too many times that it gets easier to blame the pedestrians for lack of common sense, eye contact is the only trustworthy option for these situations.

What i mean in this instance is, you shouldnt be watching the car in front but what is ahead of them because you can easily make this mistake if you arent aware of what is going on ahead or around you.
i did that once, when I was a newly minted driver. I had to follow him/her on the embarrassing trek over the median strip and the tram line to get to the right side too. Much better situational awareness these days. Most of the time. :)
