    Very nice video!
Had a 970 and 870 evo that both had issues. Was able to backup and got them replaced.
Replacements had newer firmware versions and are not running into the same problems. From what I could find it is an issue with the firmware on these drives, though, don't have the knowledge to confirm nor deny this.
Wonder how many SKUs are affected, heard about issues with 980 pro drives as well for example.

I think the problem is related to NAND memory quality. To make lower cost, larger nand memory they put more bits inside the memory cells. This makes it far cheaper to make but the downside is lower quality memory. They also play a lot of maths games in the firmware to make them last longer. I'm guessing the firmware updates are just trying to improve these mathematical cheats they come up with to make these cheaper nand cells last longer.
I hope to do some firmware reverse engineering soon

@@ZeroalphaAu Can also imagine that if that is the case then any fault in the firmware could have a rather large impact on actual drive life. Interesting stuff.

@@basbas63 may I ask you, how old are your SSDs or how long they were working before they failed?
      Thanks.

@@redangrybird7564 Took about 6-7 months for problems to show up. Lucky I benchmarked it at the time for fun and noticed bad performance which led me to finding out the drives were failing.
Could back up all personal files just fine, already had them backed up luckily, just did it again to be sure. Though when cloning the drive errors occurred and had to do a fresh install of Windows.
They both had errors going up quicky in SMART data (ECC Errors, uncorrectable errors, media errors, etc.)
Remember doing a SMART Self-test on the 970 which reported "Defects have been detected from the device. Please check Help"
      970 1TB had 5,6 TBW / 2257 power on hours
      870 2TB had 6,1 TBW / 2260 power on hours
      Hope it helps :)

@@redangrybird7564 P.S. Can't remember seeing anything regarding bad sectors yet cloning still ended up being a problem.

I notices your using the firmware that starts with a 3, this firmware has known issues. Use Samsung Magician to update your ssd to the newer firmware that starts with a 4.

Is your comment also valid for Sata SSDs?
Because I'm about to clone a 870 EVO 1T and maybe I should update the firmware before the cloning.
      Thanks.
