I’m a beginner, but this is where my head wants to go on steel. What a killer lesson! Bud and Albert kick it where it needs to be! Two masters.
I was there and it was the first and only time I have ever seen Buddy play live, my best mate Jim Smith was there with me, and we both realised we had a long way to go as steel players. I remember asking Buddy how he found playing through two steel amps, (I meant the sound) and he answered, I just came on stage and and found them set up ready for me.
Thank you, Emmons will always be the King of Steel.
It had to be a Pleasure just to be part of that band. Such Professionalism.. We think it’s all over when the artist dies - then an Unknown comes into view and it begins all over again - Thankfully..
This is a real GIFT ... Thank you very much
I agree with you - this is a gift. I’ve watched Buddy Emmons on several other videos but this one just came out of nowhere. Can you even imagine playing in this band? That guitar player is playing a Les Paul Special. I owned one just like it in the ‘70’s. I bought it used for $100. I definitely didn’t play that good..
When i witnessed this live i had no idea the true magic i was watching.
A treasure indeed. Thank you!
Awesome part where Buddy explains his setup and copedant.
What awesome footage! Thank you for sharing!
Buddy will forever own the benchmark for the pedal steel guitar , he isn't just head and shoulders ahead, he's probably ahead of everyone else from the waist up .
Don’t agree Ralph Mooney
@@derekmoore6265 Ralph has a sound and style but it's not a universal style, he didn't get into session work so much he did a lot of work with Waylon but I preferred Tom Brumley with Buck Owens.
@@WildPhotoShooter Thanks for your reply I having been playing steel for over 40 years and really like listening to tunes and I can’t stand blues or over playing.Buddy and Jerry are my least favourites.I think taste comes into it.
@@derekmoore6265 I thought your naming of Ralph Mooney meant you liked him better than Buddy.
Buddy had taste that was overflowing. Paul Franklin said many years ago, what made Buddy Emmons the greatest was "taste" more than all the others have ......I agree with Paul Franklin and the majority of the worlds steel guitarists ......Buddy was the greatest . Big E .
@@WildPhotoShooter sorry I don’t like jazz or blues playing tuneless to me great player Buddy but I wouldn’t go out of my way to listen to him.I like some of his stuff but I don’t like the improvisation stuff just tuneless.I could say the same about Jerry Byrd I have LPs of Buddy and Jerry that I know I will never play.regards
Well done number one . God Bless you sir .
Thank you
Andrew this looks older than 1995 because I was thinking that Buddy was playing a Derby in 95' but, I could be wrong. What a wonderful video and huge part of Buddy Emmons history
Thank you so much for posting this great video!!!!!!
@@keithclark486 no. And no I am not a doctor I'm from Fayetteville Tn
You are right. This is from 1988. I got a video copy in 1989 with the 4 shows and in better quality.
Danny Boy is awesome!! The moves on the steel were top shelf!

Hey John
Sam 2 floors down wants to know when this was recorded.
@@keithclark486 This is from the British Steel Guitar Festival. The first part is from 1988 and the second part is from 1985.
This is from British Steel Guitar Festival november 1988, Newbury Berkshire, England. Not 1995. I got the 4 shows and in better quality.
Buddy could have taken his steel to the Newport jazz festival and would have been totally accepted.
Why no stage lighting ??
UTOB IS THAT IS PRETTY COOL, I PLAYED WITH HIM BEFORE,
REALLY GOOD PICKER!😊
There is a lot of great stuff missing here. I tried to upload but was prevented due to copright.
