Here's my time saving tip, I draw numbers on my batteries and cards, so I can tell them apart. For example if Battery #2 is in the Camera and getting low I go directly to battery #3 without guessing which one is charged.
Excellent video. I do not have near the budget so everything I am doing will be with my phone to start. This gives me great ideas and goals to shoot for.
Some of my favorite adventure videos are the ones where you can tell they don’t care about the camera angles and the different shots. The best ones are the ones where you can tell the subject is just in the moment and being real with what is happening. Some of my favorites have been filmed completely on a GoPro with small attentions to camera shots
I was always concerned about getting a cool shot, but a cool shot is nothing if there’s not a story lined up with it. I’m trying to think of new creative ways to be a better story teller through videos, thanks for the great video!
Jeven, you are AWESOME and an inspiration. I recently started by youtube channel with my first video of a recent trip in my JL crawling and having fun with new and old friends at a park in TN called AOP (Adventure offroad park). I still have a long way to go, but having someone like you to inspire and teach is such a blessing. I would love to attend one of your clinics. Keep the content coming brother. God Bless You Brother.
I must say you are one special person. You have many god given gifts,, none of which are to be taken for granted. Being very articulate as you are enables you to keep your audience throughout on point .. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, knowledge with us ..I need a loan to follow you..LOL Continued success!!
These ideas are very helpful for our RUclips Channel. Greg & Cindy is very grateful for the video shooting tips and camera angles as it will definitely help to enhance our content for 2023. Blessings naahmean..
This video is absolute GOLD! Thanks so much for sharing all these tips, Jeven! I'm just getting started as an adventure vlogger, and have been looking for ways to step up my game. This video is loaded with suggestions. Just what I was looking for. Now to get out there and apply what I've learned. Much appreciated!
Tip #23 is $$$$! Thanks again!!! Wow - then #24 #truth. There are times when I just leave the cameras in the bag so I can just do what I’m doing, lol. Sometimes you have to decide am I filming or am I ______? Lol good stuff my man!
This is amazing! Thank you so much for making these videos, Jeven! The best and most complete guide on adventure filmmaking I found out there. Super inspiring! Keep it up! :)
Your content is so valuable, thanks for that. I'm reengaging in photography as a hobby, back in the days I used to develop black and white in my own darkroom, but a lot has changed since I lost all my gear so now I'm learning everything from scratch. so I appreciate all your content very very to the point and informative
Im so glad I found this channel, I was looking for good ideas to make my videos more interesting and this offers just that. Thank you, I am now a subscriber as well!
Thanks so much for this video! I'm just starting my journey of becoming an outdoor adventure filmmaker and know a few things about camera, storytelling and shooting from working in film industry before. But this video brings everything on point! I'm happy to watch more on your channel.
Smart, thorough, and helpful. Thank you! Great examples included for every tip. Couldn't think of a better way to wrap it up than the Safety Tip- the gear and technique stuff are fun but the safety is how you get home again. ⭐x 5
Thank you for all of your extremely practical and useful advice. I have watched many of your videos several times and always feel like I have learned something new that I can apply to my efforts to improve.
Thanks Jevon for this very informative footage. I agree with most of it and I think it works great in theory. In practice however I struggle sometimes to keep up with the assumptions I make before leaving home as there are moments you are simply tired, you visit places you have no idea what you’re going to face so it’s hard to prepare in advance, sometimes you just simply don’t feel like filming on a particular day. Also non-native English speaking people face difficulty to easily express yourself in front of the camera “live” so it’s easier to focus on nice shots and build the story based on voiceovers 🤗 The most important is to keep having fun while creating and don’t put yourself in a position “I have to shoot”. That’s my experience so far. Cheers from Poland! 💪🏻👊🏻😊
Manh your content is so different & 🔥🔥🔥, this’s like a full course for any content creator who does adventure!!! Thank you... for this course, i learned a lot & no. 20 is what i was missing!🤙🏽🤘🏽
Lots of great tips! My hikes take SOOO much longer trying to get different shots! I've learned that if in doubt, just SHOOT IT. If I come to a surprise cool view, back up and SHOOT IT!! I do everything on my iPhone, and I'm always having to try to clear it as much as possible before backpacking trips. I've run out of space more than once! 🤦♀
Jeven.. this was such an awesome piece of content. Some of these tips seemed new also.. but perhaps you covered them before. Thanks so much for this comprehensive list of tips!
Jeven, I have a question. When creating an adventure video I am thinking that the adventure is the subject. How do you go about enjoying and living the adventure and not allow the videography process to consume all of your time and energy? How do you prevent annoying a partner with setting up shots and reshooting scenes?
You are a wealth of information thank you. I watch alot of outdoor videos, the things that stop me from watching is the wind noise in people's videos. I just can't listen to it, and when people film themselves I side and they sound like they are in a tin can. I would love to try this microphone.
New to your channel and never watched anything from you before great job on the dynamic content im planning on just using your methods and applying them to whats applicable for me i want to start making content. Plenty of detail Good job with all your hard work editing i think some people don’t realize how much work goes into the editing process and fulming aspect of content
Hi! I am a solo-fishing-filming enthusiast that love to create stories outdoors. I am having a real hard time finding something that actually competes with my gopro hero 7 in terms of picture quality while moving a lot. I used a canon 70d before and got a Sony ZV E10 now for talking heads and tri-pod shots but the amount of work I need to put in to make that footage as good as the gopro when I am outdoor is just too time consuming? What camera do you guys recommend? I need at least 4k/60 fps, weather seal, good stabilization and cant go over a 3000 dollar mark for body and one lens? Thank you for the help and thanks for this amazing episode 🙌
Loved this, Thanks Jeven! I've started creating mountain bike videos and have to admit I'm kind of guilty of just filming myself ride and putting it to music... except for my latest video where I've tired to incorporate a story. I shot the journey to the trail, the ride up and the ride down, it was a lot more work but was totally worth it and definitely made a big difference.
Great tips! Thanks for making this! When we started RUclips’n I was filming with multiple cameras, then the Hero 10 showed up and now it’s all I use. My audio is what I really need to work on next. Struggling with wind noise a lot. Thanks again!
New subscriber... My filmmaking is stuck indoors in a Hospital ICU, but hope to be back outside this spring. Tips were great, but really liked that your didn't provide them from behind a vlogger desk. Thanks for taking me outside, especially in the southwest. You missed the need for a pocket for a jar of green chili in the backpack.
Very interesting content and great delivery so much learnt! You are able to bring together the pros and cons 🎉Super engaging style of content presentation 🎉
Man, your videos are such a pleasure to watch. I will be your fan for the rest of my days, I guess - haha ! I love you and what you doing. It seems however that to make videos similar to yours (in quality) would cost tons of money.
That was really helpful! I'll definitely start applying the techniques on my trip to Northumberland in July. Excellent advice, I'm only using a GoPro, a drone & a Samsung s23 but I'm looking forward to seeing an improvement in my efforts
Thank you for that nine shot rule. Never thought about that. I usually just place the camera at one spot and shoot from one angle. I can see how booring that must look compared to different angles.
Thank you for the incredibly helpful advice. As someone who is just starting out this is invaluable. P.S. during your drone tracking segment (20:40) I laughed too much when that drone hit the tree. Perfect take for a Mel Brooks or Monty Python.
Next watch this video about how to tell a story: ruclips.net/video/kDybV4DmB2o/видео.html
Here's my time saving tip, I draw numbers on my batteries and cards, so I can tell them apart. For example if Battery #2 is in the Camera and getting low I go directly to battery #3 without guessing which one is charged.
Great idea!
Excellent video. I do not have near the budget so everything I am doing will be with my phone to start. This gives me great ideas and goals to shoot for.
This is literally a paid course online. Thanks so much for making it free on RUclips.
I really hope you hit 1M subs this year!

I am self taught, the Shot Variety 41:50 is a new idea to me and it's brilliant.

I really hope this video does well for you.
I love it when you talk storytelling!
But I also see your Drone videos do very well.
🤞🏽 for more stories
A+ advise! Thank you so much!

Thank you for the incredibly helpful advice. As someone who is just starting out this is invaluable.
P.S. during your drone tracking segment (20:40) I laughed too much when that drone hit the tree. Perfect take for a Mel Brooks or Monty Python.
Brilliant advice as usual, hopefully I can take as many of these as possible on to my own channel. Thanks
Wonderful content, keep up the good work bro.
I liked the video before I watch because I know it will good
As someone who makes kayak fishing content, this video was perfect.
I went out today after not fishing for 7 months and tried to apply these techniques. Now on to editing.
This is insanely helpful! Thank you!
Great quality vid and tips!
Impeccable video !!!!

Very helpful. Thank you!
