  • #southcarolina #troutfishing #fishing In this video I'm Trout fishing on South Carolinas south saluda river with spinners! The south saluda is a great river to take kids fishing because the banks are not steep and its also a great place for beginner fisherman because it is stocked regularly with rainbow trout, brown trout and brook trout and is typically a pretty easy and exciting fishing location. This river is located right next to highyway 11 in Greenville county and is a short drive from Greenville, Spartanburg and travelers rest. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks for watching.

    Hey, I come and visit my girlfriend pretty often in Spartanburg and I’m from California. I love trout fishing. Can i fish this river all season or does it close down sometimes? Thank you and please make more fishing videos. Love the content! Oh btw is there a website where i can check and see when they stocked the fish?

      @@vangstii Thanks alot bud! That stream is open all year but a few do have closed seasons and delayed harvest. You can check the stocking information here www.dnr.sc.gov/fish/stocking/results.html

    Hey mate, I’m an Aussie coming over to SC in June….I’ll be fishing that area. Can you give me a point where to access the river for a days fishing ? Thanks and cool video

      Thats awesome your traveling from Australia bud! The south saluda is actually one of the easiest rivers we have to access. There is a parking area located at 5432 Geer Highway, Cleveland, SC 29635 but the river actually follows highway 11 for several miles and road side parking is completely normal to access different sections. I looked at your channel, awesome stuff man! If your looking for a quick trip the south saluda is a great option but if you want to make a day out of it i would suggest you goto the chattooga river and park near burrels ford bridge on burrels ford bridge road. That is the most beautiful stream we have and its the state line boundary for south Carolina and georgia but you can fish either bank with a south carolina license. On the chattooga plan to hike a bit and explore the mountains, there are hiking trails that follow the river up and down stream from the bridge. That river is much more isolated and beautiful. I hope you enjoy your trip and feel free to ask as many questions as you want mate!

      @@meatseeker Thank you so much, I catch plenty of trout here but wanted to catch one when over there.....I'm staying with a friend in Easley, SC so we can easily travel to the Saluda for a day....I'll be sure to let you know how we get on in June. thanks again.

    Can you still use live bait on the South Saluda? I don't think they have restrictions on this part of the river. I would love to use some crickets or meal worms.

    • @meatseeker
      @meatseeker  5 месяцев назад

      No restrictions on this section. Worms are very popular but i bet the crickets would work really well! Good luck!

      Its definitely a nice place. Just look up the directions to wildcat branch falls, the river is directly across the road from that.

    i hooked onto a really hefty rainbow on this stream at least 22" last year, spent an hour swapping lures since this was the largest ive ever seen in a hole here. I wish i had a mounted camera to film content eventually. This is definitely become an overfished section over years

    • @meatseeker
      @meatseeker  Год назад

      Wow a 22in is pretty amazing man, i pretty much never see a trout over 14in on this section but i actually did see a big one around 17-18in on this trip. i didn’t put it in the video because he didn’t even move when i would throw a lure at him. in hindsight i should’ve got some underwater footage of him. This river definitely sees alot of fishing every day of the week and you catch almost exclusively stocked fish but its pretty close to my house and fun so i like to fish it.

      @@meatseeker the most fun and difficult part was only using two pound line wearing him out which lead me to lose him after I landed onto the bank without a net. I never knew how strong the larger ones are until you even get to touch one.

    Nice video!
    Good little trout!
    Are there any smallmouth in there?
    Or can you direct me to a good place to wade and find smallmouth away from gator territory?
    I'm stuck on the coast and not into saltwater fishing or gators lol.

      Thanks bud, i really appreciate it! I honestly dont bass fish much anymore but have several friends that do and i know the broad river is really known for having great small mouth fishing and could be waded or bank fished in sections. I don’t think i have ever caught a bass on that section of the south saluda. just bream, horny heads and lots of trout.

    • @meatseeker
      @meatseeker  Год назад +1

      Also i think columbia is about as far north as gators are generally found. Santee definitely has them and every now and then lake murray will have a sighting. You definitely don’t need to worry about them in the upstate in my opinion. good luck!

      This was a mid day trip and i was having good luck with a yellow blade rooster tail 1/8oz with a yellow painted blade and a half orange and green body. If you get there early when the sun is low i would start off with a silver blade for more flash but as the sun rises a copper or painted blade is better. The silver blade can actually spook fish in bright sun sometimes. I appreciate you watching bud. heck of a bass you just caught to!

      Thanks bud. Glad you enjoyed the video. It was alot of fun to make. That was the first place i ever caught a trout about 18 years ago lol. its always nice to go back. dnr has made it nicer than it used to be with all those rock walls across the river. I think it keeps the water more oxygenated and the fish healthier in the heat of the summer

    • @meatseeker
      @meatseeker  Год назад +1

      copy and paste these gps coordinates into your maps 35.07358, -82.59596 it will take you directly to the parking area. i fished down stream from that location. Its a great place to take kids because the banks are often not steep and the fishing is usually good. When i take my 4 year old son i typically use a #8 hook and about an inch of nightcrawler and they can’t resist it. Taking kids is so much fun, they think all the fish are giants! good luck bud.

    • @meatseeker

      well i tried copying those coordinates and it didn’t work for me so i checked on the map and the parking area is 3.4miles past the F mart convenient store (good burgers) on the left
