Hmmm, 33 downvotes for a video that is super informative and to the point. Are people jealous that you had the correct way of replacing the cabin air filter? I think your instructions are to the point and very easy to follow! Thank you!
I just changed it at 96,271.5. Oil and air filter changes always changed on time or before. My wife said her A/C wasn't getting cold anymore. It has a 100k warranty. If they saw the cabin filter the way it was, they would tell me to take a hike. Thank you for the video. It took 20 minutes and blows cold now.
Thank you for this informative video. I was able to perform this replacement and saved $50 vs. what the shop wanted. It does surprise me that these manufacturers make simple repairs and maintenance items like this, overly complicated where you have to torque yourself into painful positions under the dash to change out a filter. But I would not have been able to do this repair, with your great video. Thank you!!
One would think they could further design it to simply unlatch a door inside the glove box and replace it through the glove box. I believe what we are seeing is a dealer requested design - one that allows them to stick it to the customer.
It took me 1 minute to replace it on my Honda Civic and Toyota Camry and I didn't use any instrument. Why Ford engineers has made it so complicated? I own Ford Fusion Energi and the recent problem was the battery got drained. Can you believe they put battery to the trunk which can be opened only when car is powered on! But anyway, thanks for sharing this video. It is very helpful!
As a high school teacher, I appreciate anyone with knowledge that can explain/demonstrate it in a way that most everyone can understand. You, my friend, were an excellent teacher in this video. Thank you for making the job easy!
Good word of advice for replacing your air filter or anything with those tabs. Wait till it's summertime or use a heated garage if you can, winter makes all those plastic parts super brittle and makes it easier for them to break. You might be sweating a lot while doing it, but it's worth saving yourself any risky breaks or replacements. This was so helpful, all I needed to buy was a single tool and an air filter. Got me a carbon air filter cause I live in Montana and we get a lot of smoke from neighboring fires from Canada, Washington, Oregon, and California. I recommend everyone get that kind of filter too, don't go cheap, go with the best, it will really help to filter just about anything and keep the air in your vehicle clean and refreshing. I'm gonna change mine again in a year.
Tip: careful when pulling back those clips when removing the glove compartment, I was too rough with it and broke one off. It still seems secure with screws though. Thank you so much for this clear video. I NEVER work on cars, and your video made the process much less painful.
Thank you for the informative how to video! I have a '14 with 150,000 miles. I came across your video and went huh? Maybe I should change mine out! Come to find out that two mice made it in there at some point of the cars life and decided pass away. The A/C now feels like Minnesota in January. Note: if any debris fall down past the filter just take a vacuum hose and tape some smaller tubing on the end. You can then feed the tubing down in the blower area to clean it out. I had an acorn fall down unknowingly and made a bad noise once everything was back together. The tubing did the trick to grab it out without further disassembly.
This video was very helpful. I am not very good with diy projects for my car but this saved me $115 doing itmy self. Naturally ford makes it seem difficult so you take the car to them, but no need if you follow this video. Thanks for posting it.
Thanks, Ford wanted to do this and I was like "No, I'll just do it", then I realized it wasn't as simple as my own cars or trucks. However, it was pretty easy. I do recommend putting tape on your flat head to avoid really damaging the end panel. I saw this in other Ford tutorials and it worked out pretty well.
Very nice. Would a dirty cabin filter prevent the fan motor from working correctly? I have not changed the cabin filter yet but will very soon. 2014 Fusion that I bought in 2018. 100,000 now. Filter could have been changed prior to me owning.
Yep! Royal Pain in the A*s. Can be done exactly as described but be aware there are those tiny pinch clips (white clips as seen in the video) that may come off in this - oh so lovely - process. Thanks for posting this.
Changed my blower motor and my cabin air filter in my 2014 Ford Fusion Energi SE today. Tell me why changing THIS cabin air filter is SO complicated compared to the 10 or so other vehicles I've had over the years (this is my 1st Ford). The cabin air filter (which is like a 2-3 minute job on other vehicles) literally took longer than changing my blower motor! C'mon, Ford! They really trying to make you go to the dealership for even "simple" DIY jobs! 😒🙄🤦🏾♂️ Anyway, great video! Thank you, Sir! 🤙🏾
Thank You Thank You.....a mouse built a nest with babies on top of the cabin air filter of our 2015 Ford Fusion and then DIED. The smell was unbearable! Ford dealer wanted $200 to $300 plus parts to remove mice. With you video I did it myself in about 1 hour. Again THANKS
Jim thank you for the video. It seems that the screws on the cabin air filter was already missing. Also, I find it annoying that car manufactures can't make cabin air filter more easily accessible through the glove compartment.
I don’t know what Ford was thinking making it this involved and difficult to change a cabin air filter. Apparently they have too many engineers designing this stuff and not enough mechanics telling them they’re idiots for over engineering what should be simple.
Thank you! My only problem following your guide was that whomever replaced the filter last didn't put some of the screws back in so I wasted time trying to find them :)
Hi Jim.. my fusion wipers sometimes won't come down all the way after I turned them off.. they stop about 1 inch from the bottom.. so the next time I put they key in the ignition and turn it ON, the wipers then will go down were they're supposed to... Ford already replaced the wiper motor and calibrated the wipers, so they told me there's nothing else they can do because there is no code.. any ideas?
First off... good thing this isn't complicated or anything. Who the hell designed this cluster****??? Wow... pain in the ass is right! Second... THANK YOU! I never would have figured this out even with directions. Very well done with just the right amount of detail. When the video first started I thought oh... this won't be bad. Looks like we are just dropping the glovebox out of the way like on my '17 F-450 (a couple of tab releases drops the glovebox out of the way). Wrong... lol! This doesn't look overly difficult, just unnecessarily complicated...
+jimthecarguy I went back to chicago for 4 months and I just came back down to Florida for a month and then off to Scottsdale for a couple of months... I am all over the place in my 2000 Tahoe 230k miles and the truck running great lol
I had a Chevy Cobalt and it took me no more then 15 mins to complete this. When it time to get my cabin filter fix, I;m paying someone else to handle this one. lol
I changed out the filter on a Toyota Sienna, you open the glove box. There is a plastic cover in the back, two tabs, pull out the plastic piece, pull out the filter, put the new one in. Put the plastic cover back in place, and done... I looked in the glove box of my 2017 Ford fusion energi platnium, and said WTF is this Sh!t!... to youtube we go, now I see its going to be a bit more of a process....
I have a 2013 Fusion, and had I'd known this beforehand, A. I wouldn't have bought the car, as Toyota has àmuch simpler system that doesn't require this much disassembly. How to make something that should be simple, as complicated and difficult as possible, is a sign of poor design.
This is horribly misleading. Replacing that bottom screw on the left where you cannot see the hole is torture. It took me hours to get it back in there.
what a fucking mess... First time im proud i drive a hyundai... I'm only looking this up cause it's my mother's vehicle that needs the changing. in my hyundai all i have to do to access the filter is remove the 2 clips that holds the entire glove box basket down revealing the entrance in the back of the filter.. easy.. wtf ford??
Honestly. This should be the standard of how every video showing how to do something should be done. Great work!

Thank you for showing this. Now I gotta say "un-freaking believable, Ford!!" What a pain in the arse for a stoopid cabin filter!
+xKmotx Yea they are not easy
One would think they could further design it to simply unlatch a door inside the glove box and replace it through the glove box. I believe what we are seeing is a dealer requested design - one that allows them to stick it to the customer.
Oh yea the dealer just loves to screw with us.Lol

You were right the first time Jim.. What a pain in the ass..!! :-D
+Al Star Ya sometime they really are.
Nice illustration Jim. I just completed mine exactly as you have shown. Thanks! Wow, my filter was dirty.
Thank you for watching.I'm happy to help.
Thanks for the video, Jim. It was simple to follow, and saved me about $60 (minus the cost of the filter)!
Thanks for the video. Can I know where is the fuel filter location?
Very nice. Would a dirty cabin filter prevent the fan motor from working correctly? I have not changed the cabin filter yet but will very soon. 2014 Fusion that I bought in 2018. 100,000 now. Filter could have been changed prior to me owning.

I don’t know what Ford was thinking making it this involved and difficult to change a cabin air filter. Apparently they have too many engineers designing this stuff and not enough mechanics telling them they’re idiots for over engineering what should be simple.
So is changing the filter in a 2015 done the same way? I have a 2015 fusion.
Thanks. I appreciate the video. Great step by step, no surprises. Nice work.
Thanks Jim. I have the left bottom screw left. I think I wait till tomorrow. I have aches and pains that have to heal.
Thanks Jim. The only thing missing was the amazon affiliate link to the filter!
This is great. Keep up the good work. Thanks!
Well done, thanks. Took more time to science out how to safely lift the car with my 2 post for an oil change than to replace the cabin filter.
I noticed a filter behind the right windshield wiper motor in my Fusion (2014) as well, what is that one for?
Thank you! My only problem following your guide was that whomever replaced the filter last didn't put some of the screws back in so I wasted time trying to find them :)
Nice video Jim. Thanks for taking the time to shoot it.
Excellent, just one thing if you have the 4 glove box screws are out you might have to tug on the glove box.
Im saving $117.00 with this video! Thanks for posting👍
Thank you for stopping by the shop
Simple job. Just took a few minutes. Thanks for the video instructions.
Glad it helped
Can you do one on how to replace the fuel filter those years of Fusions?
Will do. Thanks for watching.
Hi Jim.. my fusion wipers sometimes won't come down all the way after I turned them off.. they stop about 1 inch from the bottom.. so the next time I put they key in the ignition and turn it ON, the wipers then will go down were they're supposed to... Ford already replaced the wiper motor and calibrated the wipers, so they told me there's nothing else they can do because there is no code.. any ideas?
My fan went out, if the cabin filter is clogged will that effect the blower?
This is great. I have 2014 fusion I bought used with 18k miles. Now has 32k miles. Can I just suck the leaves from under the windshield wiper?
Yes you can.
So what happens to all of the extra debris that falls down into the blower housing after you take the filter out?
I have black trim covering the screw I need to get to down low
The socket won't get it head on because the trim is in the way
Do you know if any special procedures are needed to flush the brake fluid on a 2014 Fusion?
Nothing special the same as usual. Thanks for watching.
Thankyou and keep it up in posting good videos.
This video nails it...Great Job!
Thank you! Cheers!
Thank you very much, very thorough video. Definitely going to give this a go myself.
great keep me posted how you do.
Simple dumb question. does the arrows go looking down? i have also a 2014 ford fusion SE
Musicti oficial there is no such thing as a dumb question the arrow faces the direction that the air will flow brown toward the blower motor
@@jimthecarguy So that is "Arrows down" right? Same car, Model, Year.
Thank you... Very informative :)
Thanks for stopping by

Great video, thanks. Perfect!! Worked great@!
Was it a Titanium edition?
Thank you for this video,it was very helpful 👍👍👍👍
All 4 of the bolts are 7mm right?
Yes, they 4 bolts are all 7MM
couple more screws and you probably could of changed the heater core lol nice video Jim
+RICKAFIX It's amazing the sh-t you need to do for such and easy repair :-) How's everything going for you? Keeping busy?
+jimthecarguy I went back to chicago for 4 months and I just came back down to Florida for a month and then off to Scottsdale for a couple of months... I am all over the place in my 2000 Tahoe 230k miles and the truck running great lol
+RICKAFIX Wow you really get around your all over the states..230k miles you must take good care of it to get that many miles.
can u make a video of how to replace the headlight bulbs
As soon as one come into the shop I will.
Is that what causes it to give a abnormal odor when using the AC
Could be. Or mold/mildew in the ducts.
Great video! Thanks!!
Glad you liked it!
@@jimthecarguy for some reason I couldn’t get my filter cover to close back up, so I left it slightly open. Do you think that matters ?
What if debris from top of filter possibly fall in? How can I get in to clean it?
Aaron Sliwinski They only thing to do is use a shop vac.
Thank you! Helpful video.
What a pain in the ass, I mean pain in the butt. Awesome vid and helping show how to replace. Thanks a million
I'm happy to help. Thanks for watching.
Thank you
Glad Ford made it easy to get at.
Thanks. Great video

I-am-impressed.
Thanks good video
How to replace cabin on this car: first, tear half of the engine apart.. Then...😂😂
Very well done.
Thank you for your feedback
One of those better ideas from Ford :)
+N Smith Ya they have the best ideas:)
Hey Jim I would have never found it LOL
+Steve Rob Ha Steve I had to put on my glasses to do this one .Lol
Thanks!
That’s it? So many chances to do damage and lose hardware for a simple cabin filter
Awesome, thank you!

Who thought this was a good design for the car? I mean seriously, all that just to replace an air filter???

What a terrible design! The 2010 Fusion just drop the glove box down and access the panel. The engineers got stupider.
Can Ford find a more difficult place to install this crap!!
Thanks for watching.
