The instructor said that not everybody develops a substance use disorder. In general, what percent of people who use substances develop a substance use disorder? (Depending on the substance)
while i am watching this, couldn’t help but wonder how “love” here isn’t included
this disorder is very confusing and why would it be an isolated disorder and not a phase or a way to fight a disorder for someone. if you take a look at addiction, dependence, susbtance abuse and substance use you'll find out many fall into the category of sustance use. the real issue is the cause and why are people using susbtances. if they are trying to self medicate? or maybe just explore conciousness and their minds in risky ways? what defines the difference between use and abuse? its really subjective and the impairment in the life of the person may be caused by depression and worsened by substance use, which could be an extension of depresion or a consecuence. its as stupid as saying laxants use in people with anorexia. yes, it makes it worse but its a problem, but not THE problem. correct me if i'm wrong but i find it confusing
lolmazz966 The difference between use and abuse is pretty simple and that’s whether or not you’re addicted/dependent upon the substance. No I’m not sure if that’s the actual way people in the medical field would look at it, but that’s how I’ve always viewed it.
This video is from 2015, which is quite some time ago. The final statement of "No caffeine use disorder" is false. There are current scholar articles suggesting the you CAN face withdrawal symptoms (though not too extreme of course) for stopping of caffeine use.
I do not classify it as such so therefore it is not. Perhaps you should read me.
According to DSM-5, “Caffeine is a drug, a mild stimulant, which is used by almost everybody on a daily basis,” said Dr. Charles O'Brien, who chairs the Substance-Related Disorder Work Group for DSM-5
That is not the discussion. We are talking about Substance abuse. Caffeine is not classified as a drug that can cause substance abuse disorder because it does not meet the criterion for addiction as described on page 483.
Cafine isnt a drug but it is a stimulant which people may become addicted to. This can change the person’s mood and behaviour if cafine substances are taken in large quantities. Substance use disorder is to describe people of which are addicted to a substance which can become harmful
Big Man it’s not a very good argument bro. I mean I’d rather be addicted to cocaine then heroin, but that doesn’t mean that cocaine addiction isn’t serious. Obviously caffeine addiction isn’t nearly as bad as cocaine but I hope you get the point.
What are the Remidies for smoking and depression

Agree with Mark and should the authors offer some credentials. Is this reviewed by a psychologist, psychiatrist, and/or a MD. Is this a high school student, medial student or technician? Says AMAC and Khan Academy but does that satisfy qualification of the material presented being reviewed by a credentialed professional.
uCare2much4them seems to coincide with my mental health nursing book by Elsevier.
God said Terrell trisby exact like Derrick rose
That effect vs does graph doesn't make sense. Implying that the more you take the smaller the effect
The graph represents tolerance to a drug, so the more you take a drug the more tolerance your body has and the more of the drug you need for an effect.
Caffiine is addictive
No shit Sherlock!

Apparently marijuana isn't a drug....
Let's not forget prescription drugs too!!
Shouldn't this video be titled "Substance ABUSE disorder"?
+Mark Fankhauser no
+Mark Fankhauser nope - check the DSM-5
The DSM-5 category is Substance Use Disorder, changed from Addiction and Dependence in this new version to avoid stigma.
abuse and dependence is no longer used as of 2015. It is referred to substance use disorder according to DSM 5. I know its confusing, its taking me a while to let of the older references
This video is incorrect on multiple levels . Tolerance and dependence are NOT abnormal phenomena.
Hey, have you already read Steffon Barkload's stuff? (googl him) He goes for a one-hour technique which aims at on doing things your own way, without ever patronizing you or making you feel guilt ridden. You don't even have to stop permanently if that is what you want.
