Thank you for sharing. My story is a little similar. I was an addict thanks to every doctor ever handing me candy and telling me to take it. I was in full blown addiction, got clean for six years and a beautiful baby boy. Then I find out I have extensive spinal issues causing me the worst pain ever. So I was sent to pain management. I wasn’t ever offered any help besides pills. I’m happy to say. I’m utilizing MAT and I’ve been clean over a year now!

I am a Peer Support Specialist, and MAT patients are my clients. I just wonder if you could please think about the way you spoke so distainfully about people who "shoot dope". Many of those people also started with prescribed pain medication. I do not think you even realized how that sounded. We want to help ALL people with substance use disorder. Yes, even people who used to "shoot dope". Please keep doing what you are doing. We need all hands on deck. Take care
