    Wow! I can’t believe it’s been a full year since I was ‘encouraged’ to share a video showing my model railway build. How time flies…
    I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who has taken the time to comment and share ideas for my layout and a special thank you to everyone who has subscribed to my channel - I am truly blown away. Thank you.
    Some of the work I am doing now is taking a little longer and I feel that sometimes I do not have enough progress to share each week so there may be occasions where I will share an update fortnightly rather than weekly. The long overdue warm weather also draws me into more outside tasks!! We’ll see how things progress.
    Again, thank you everyone for your support. I am truly humbled.
    Catch up soon, Andy.

    It’s been a genuine pleasure to see this railway grow and to be a part of your journey.
    The best way I can sum it up is “the world is a bit brighter with Beechroft Model Railway in it”
    Long may it continue.

    I like the way you modestly state you're no expert whilst the likes of me look on in awe at what you have created. So many points of interest and all of it detailed to a level that makes me envious of your ability to envisage and create something special. As I near retirement myself, it inspires me to think that the oldies can still cut it. I guess a happy birthday might be in order and also a thank you to your grand daughter for encouraging you to share your layout with us as it has progressed over the last year.
    With that said, it is very important not to become a slave to RUclips. We're just passengers who are along for the ride, enjoying the scenery. You're the driver, map reader, mechanic, destiny setter and pace setter. If you get enjoyment from our enjoyment then that's great, but we should never be the priority so your pace is our pace.

    A year and what a year. Amazingly well done every sub well deserved. I returned to the hobby about a year ago after a 40+ year tea brake and I agree that without the help and advice of the people out there in YT land, I to would be lost so much having changed in the last years since last ran a train. Just keep doing what you do.

Its also because you are open and honest about your skills and limitations. It's your railway and your pleasure. 😊

    Wonderful Layout and a year that has been very successful. It can be just fine to take a break. Spend some time in the garden and do those odd jobs around the house. i am sure your grand-daughter is proud of the progress this year. You have five running lines, all a good length, and they have cross overs if I remember rightly. I can't say enough in this short note and you can't show enough of your great work in a short video.

      Funny you should say that. I’ve just been looking at whether I can cut down one of my surplus Skaledale platforms. They are the right length but far too wide. Or maybe just build one from MDF and use brick paper to cover 👍

Not many people are able to show others their mistakes as openly as you do in these videos. Well done and great respect. Keep up the great work because you have a following of like minded individuals that actually rely on people like yourself to enable and encourage us to do the same. Thank you for sharing. You could try playground sand for a sub ballast and then finish it off with the pricier stuff. can save a few Quid that way. and maybe add a few industry infrastructure to the buildings like some pipes and maybe a small electricity transfer station. Everything is looking great. congratulations on your channels first birthday. Your channel is good and its growth is proof.

    I remember you starting building it and don't know what happened but I must have missed it all, but it looks great framed in the 3 walls, plus I like the corner how you have small straights instead off 1 big curve. Last 1950's with the trains you run I'd guess. If it was a song it would be it the charts in my opinion. Very nice job.

    Think you are being very modest about you abilities and what you have achieved. It is because you ask for opinions and ideas and then use the contributions from viewers rather than just activity which makes the channel look busy that makes your channel approachable and popular.
    Turning the tables and asking you a question for once! As Mr Princess/Duchess/Coronation if I may. Sadly lost an old and treasured Hornby Dublo City of London when clearing my late parents house. Looking to replace her with maybe another Dublo or Wrenn but maybe a new Hornby as they look lovely models. What is your view of these or what you feel to be the best more recent model to go for? Must admit I’m not keen on the fixed pony truck but could be persuaded…

    • @Grandadstrainroom-pn3tt
      @Grandadstrainroom-pn3tt  3 месяца назад

      Hi. Thanks very much. So, all my Duchess locos are Hornby, ranging from the tender driven ones from the 80/90’s right through to the newest releases. To be honest I’m no real expert on how accurate they look but I do like them so that’s enough for me! The fixed pony truck is a bit odd but when they’re running from a distance I don’t really notice it. It’s a shame I have quite a few of the tender driven ones which I can’t run as I’m not sure how easy (or costly) they would be to convert to DCC!? 👍👍

    • @johnstephens649
      @johnstephens649 3 месяца назад

      Thanks for the advice and perhaps tending towards an original Dublo or possibly a Wrenn to replace the family collection, but if not then a Hornby from the 2000-10 era as the locos they made then were pretty good.
      Due to the age of a lot of my locos I am staying with DC but I don’t think converting to DCC is difficult. If I recall Jenny Kirk did a vid a few months ago on this and it didn’t look the worst job to do!

    excellent progress, and a nice layout, I know I asked before but I’ll ask again as I forgot, how big is your layout again as I’m trying to plan my own layout, and I’m just looking for inspiration etc, I’ll be building mine in a room that’s just under 10ft long by 8ft deep but I’ll have to have some space for my desk and chair still so I’m hoping that’s enough for a layout. Hope that’s understandable. Look forward to seeing more progress on yours - Callum.

      When I started this layout I though I needed as much running length as possible. The more I get into it I’ve come to realise the limitations this causes for having a good depth of scenery! If I were to do this again….. 👍
