Is this considered the main backup way of a synology nas ? or is it a third party solution? Is there something already built in DSM ? (besides snapshots which i understand are not trully a way to backup, but a quick easy way to restore data)
Great question. Hyper Backup is a separate app but is a Synology app made and designed for their devices. They have a couple but this is the one I consider mainstream and the one I use on my Synology. Snapshots are great but I still use a backup program for the bulk of my needs.
I setup an rsync backup through hyper backup but the speeds are around 5mb/s. Why would it be this slow? The rsync daemon is running on the local network on my pc
Is this hard wired or WiFi? Though it runs in the background that seems slow. Check your network speed between the devices and see what you get.
Nice, I added another 12tb HD on Storagfe pool 2 as a single drive for backup, but in hyper drive I cant backup storage pool 1 to storage pool 2.. Is this normal or theres another way? Thank you
The recommended way is to use an external device as failure can come from the device itself. Optionally, you can use snapshots to pool 2 and a full backup to external drive.
@@MikeFaucher Thank you, I think I solved creating a shared folder on Pool 2 and hyper backup there..
@@arksurvivalevolved9190 Excellent; thanks for the update.
