I recall my first several live encounters with Mike Patton’s projects were him opening for Tool with Fantomas as well as with Tomahawk. I absolutely hated them. Fast forward just 2 years or so after, he’s the reason I listen to Burt Bacharach, Lounge, Jazz, Surf, god knows what else. This man is the gatekeeper to exploring the art of sound. He’ll be forever my favorite and most influential artist I’ll ever probably hear in my lifetime and I’m glad I got to share the same timespan.

These questions are pretty bland. Mike's not enjoying it.

I remember seeing Mike with tomahawk in a very small venue with about 50 people about 21 years ago here in Australia. It was very intamate. Mike was very professional.

Damn this interviewer is shallow. You can tell Patton knows he’s talking to a child

no need to be an artist with an incredible catalogue like MP to get frustrated by such vacuous questions. you would´n want to talk to this guy on the subway or waiting on a crosswalk. uninspired, boring and painful to listen to.

It was really nice to hear him talk honestly and openly instead of being goofy and dodging questions.

NicCole Weinberg Agreed. One of the main reasons that I became such an avid Patton fan years ago, was because of his attitude/sense of humor and blatant disregard for the whole "fame" thing, if you will. But as I've gotten older (and he has as well), the rare moments when he'll sit for an interview with a more candid and unshielded demeanor have definitely become more meaningful. To myself as a fan anywho ;)
