  • This is Saima’s first lesson back after a 2 month break from driving lessons. We haven’t had a lesson together for over 5 months, her test is in 2 weeks time and she has had a few attempts at her driving test but has been unsuccessful. So I will be posting regular updates with Saima’s lessons leading upto her test!
    Watch to see how she got on in todays lesson.

    I have a great deal of sympathy for learners who are still trying to master the controls in a busy/congested area. I was fortunate that I could spend most of my first few hours driving in a semi-rural area with big, wide roads and virtually nothing in the way of traffic or pedestrians. Christ knows what would've happened if I tried to learn in London and in a second language.

      I had to go round the Old Hyde Park and Devils Corner @ Marble Arch with no traffic lights back in 1981 and the very old Trafalgar Square,again,with no lights and every Man for himself though the advantage of being thrown in the deep end is that, eventually, ordinary roads and roundabouts hold on fear.

    My husband gave our kids lessons early in the mornings on weekends. When there is barely any traffic. Then, once they have basic understanding of all the functions, stearing, breaking etc we paid for them to take classes. The classes took them out during normal hours and prep them to take their road test. Once, they have completed their classes, we allowed them to drive around the neighbourhood with one of us over and over again. Thank goodness they both passed and driving well. I still get nervous when I am with them driving tho.

    Good afternoon to all……….
    After watching this video I felt Saima had a good go with this lesson, however I could almost feel the anxiety buildup from saima especially approaching the larger major roundabouts.
    Maybe saima needs just to communicate a little more if she is unsure on what lane to approach or get into on roundabouts.
    As you stated saima needs to not rush and slow down at junctions and give herself time to think about what she is doing.
    A great attempt for this driving lesson and I’m quite sure this learner will improve as she builds on her confidence.
    Thank you again for anther interesting video as I really enjoy watching them, even though I drive myself it’s always healthy to take note on these lessons and brush up on your own skills as well.

    In my country we have 3 type of tests & must pass all to get driving license (part 1 - theory, part 2 - all the crazy tests inside a circuit, part 3 - road test like this).
    I was lucky enough my entire driving lessons & road test were done in a relatively suburbs area with nicely paved wide roads, no traffic lights, only single lane roundabout no multiple lanes like this, no pedestrian crossings, only some school along the way. I would be crying driving in this route.

    Can I make a bold comment? I'm sorry, and I don't want to sound negative, but I think it's just way too early for Saima to either take a driving test or even to have lessons like this one. She doesn't even have much of a clue in hindsight what were the mistakes she'd made and how they came about. And why is that? In my opinion, she's just completely overwhelmed. She appears to be on top of 50-70% of what's going on. I don't think there's much point in her going to fast roads or big roundabouts before she can easily maintain her car's position, speed up quickly, slow down progressively, shift gears naturally and without paying too much attention, switch lanes safely, and be aware of her surroundings. Right now it's half her trying her best to do the things she manages to remember (not always in the right order) and half her being prompted to do things and react to things as they happen (... which gets her confused and lose track of the things she was trying to do herself). I'm not sure if that's optimal. To me, it feels like she's being thrown into deep water way too quickly -- perhaps even by herself.

    Indian/desi ladies like my mom have almost never played cricket or football or developed any sort of hand eye coordination or experience while dealing with fast moving objects. Siama ma'am's problem isn't lack of confidence but an lack of innate understanding of how long it will take an object to approach her. It's gonna take a lot of practice so that she can get a good judgement of this. This will be difficult to do when her conscious focus is on the controls of the car. Love her determination and will to learn and she's got a great teacher, but I almost feel like she'll benifit from just catching a ball thrown at her.

    Fair play for going for manual, when most won't.

  • @OFCOURSE20
    @OFCOURSE20 Год назад

    You don't need a left signal on an ahead arrow. The highway code states this. UNLESS signs and markings state otherwise THEN SIGNAL is the rule. You can't signal ahead. No signal needed on ahead. It doesn't benefit anyone.

  • @OFCOURSE20
    @OFCOURSE20 Год назад

    Prime example at 25 mins.. you insist on a left signal ON a AHEAD ARROW. so as you exit the roundabout the signal was still on and the cars nearly pull out on you. That's why the highway department made it AHEAD. SO SIGNALS DON'T CONFUSE.
