- In the third part of the build, we go over putting together the axles, leaf spring suspension, and mounting it all up to the chassis. It's quite a bit of work, so the video is kind of long. Nevertheless, if you're planning to build one of these, hope these videos are helpful.

Great video series. I found it strange that 80mm shocks are supplied w/ this kit, whereas the D90 kit gets the 90mm ones. IMO the 80mm shocks when installed as instructed compress the leafs way too much, with the result that the suspension become rigid from the tension. I imagine they did this to get a lower ride height, but I also wonder if it won't lead to a failure down the road. I installed the shock at a lower point on the shock tower which allows the leafs to sit at a normal uncompressed position. As I'm going with larger 105mm tires, the higher ride height works for me.
I do indeed think it was for the ride height. While the leafs are compressed, I think the anti-wrap bars in the front and rear will definitely help a lot with keeping those leaf spring from failure.
