Thanks so much for this video! Our clock is 6 years old and we have never oiled it. The weights won't go down, and the pendulum stops after just a few seconds. It hasn't run in over a year because I figured it would be a costly repair. I'm thinking this is my issue though, as we've never oiled it. Oil is arriving tomorrow. :) Thanks again!
@@juanrochabrun3380 Yes, it’s level, and unfortunately the oiling didn’t work. It’s still not working. I will just have to break down and bring it in to be looked at.
@@magadalenia Yeah, oiling it sadly did not help mine. I will be bringing it in soon. Hopefully mine won’t be as expensive as your repair! I could buy a new one of mine for that cost! 😬
Thank you for the video. I was hoping hat the oil would work. I inherited a beautiful clock that was never maintained and so the clock experts quoted me $600.00 for parts (not including labor) He was looking at $1.k possibly sooooooo, I put it back in the box. I will try the oil after all it is only $10.00 and who knows..... will report if it gets working. Cheers All
Great information! I just bought my first cuckoo clock, so I'm still learning. It's a Schmenkenbelcher from Germany, with three weights, with a music box and the dancing figures on the top. Do the moving figures and the cuckoo need to be oiled too? Thanks very much.
@@MrStan913 I just oiled mine, like you showed in your video. I just bought it last week. It was running fine but thought that it may not have ever been oiled, or at least hadn't been oiled in a very long time. So I oiled it. Now, the pendulum stops after a few seconds. I don't think I put too much oil on the gears, but I went back and used a Q-tip to clean up any excess oil. Still won't stay running. Oh, well...
Hello! Thanks for the video. I just got the same clock. My question is what happens when the little people wouldn’t go around? The bird comes out at the clock hour but the people don’t move. Thank you.
Oiling is helpful, but you need to remove any excess. You can do that with a piece of paper. Never overfill an oil reservoir. Oil can drip and make a mess as well as pull most of the oil out of a reservoir.
This is useless, first clean the clock, then polish the taps and, if the tap holes are bad, reuse them. When everything is done, a little oil can be added to the taps. In the video, dirty taps are provided with oil, which causes extra wear.😉

No problem
We had a clock that wasn't running for years.
A clocksmith showed us how to oil and it started working.
Need to be level also

I took mine in to see the specialist and he quoted us $400 so I'm learning cuckoo clock repair 😂

Excelente Sra ,por una explicación sencilla y simple gracias
Why didn't you remove the works from the case? You only oiled one side of each shaft.
The clocksmith that showed us how to oil said it wasn't necessary.
@@MrStan913 Seems to me that just 1/2 a job was done.
@@ROKuberski yes we talked to a clocksmith and they said it will get you by until you have to get the whole clock maintenanced
Then he's not a clocksmith!@@MrStan913
You got that right!!!~!@@ROKuberski

Do the chains need lubrication?
No

Time to take it to a clock smith
I have the exact same make and mod clock. I love it
Each weight of your cuckoo clock weighs how much? And I would like to see the head of this clock
You only oiled the back half not the front

The concerning thing is one of two pivots on each shaft is oiled. Hopefully it still works
We keep up on ours. If all else fails we go to a clock smith.
it should be oiled from the front is its not this can damage pivots...ive had it happen
