0:37 God that bass drum or timpani roll really resembled the thunderous roar of a fighter jet rolling down the runway at full afterburner on takeoff! Awesome piece
I played this for a Veterans Day concert. It always felt so emotional and beautiful to me, especially the beginning where on the 6th measure the tone of the notes changes.
I'll never forget in middle school after we got done playing this song at our LGPE concert the whole low brass section was just stretching our mouths as possible we were so done playing 😂
This was the first Randall Standridge piece that I played in band. I played this when I was 8th grade. I was the only tuba in the 7th and 8th grade band that school year.
We played this last year and it was really cool I'm excited to play this year but I'm moving schools so I wont b with the same band sadly but band it so fun I'm glad I got to play fun pieces 😜
This is the last year my band director is going to be at our school, and for his last concert with our band he wants us to play this, his favorite piece.
as a year two clarinet player on clarinet one, i kept laughing because my director would say “ok everyone play!..except clarinet.” love this song though, its such a banger
chat we got this piece on monday with dark ride and the curse of tutankhamun and my band director said that this would be the hardest one, but almost everyone in my band thinks that it's pretty easy, so do i (coming from a 2nd clarinet player 😜)
I know that Bass Clarinet players like me have a hard time keep up with the tempo because the Music is fast and any other instrument plays a different play. But if you listen closely you can hear a tube playing the same part as bass Clarinet. Mainly 1:58
Memories of middle school. Composers of pieces like this have a very tough job, trying to make very simple music for beginner bands, while also making it sound good at the same time. There's very little room to work in but they get it done.
randall standridge has mastered this, he makes a grade .75 sound like it could be performed at a juliard concert and nobody would even think it wasn’t challenging
As a clarinet I can assure you I almost faint every time I play this. Barely any breathing time except for one 6 measure and one 2 measure rests. But it is SO EASY, litterally just quarter notes.
I like this song a lot because I play first trumpet and certainly enjoyed playing literally 6,265 high C’s (suffering inside, as you can see through some letters on a screen)
I played this in middle school like 10 years ago I love how yall still gotta play it lol
We almost didn’t we where gonna do shock wave but then we changed to after burn
as a percussionist i SUFFERED in this peice, playing hi hat, sleigh bells, crash cymbals, and tambourine 😭
My band director wants me to play drumset for this piece so wish me luck 😭
What is tempo
Omg so Fr!!! I did too!!
it was a bit easy to play on snare
@@kybeluga6902for real i have it for snare

Nah, once I had a suspended cymbal roll into a note on the train whistle.
Timpani was lucky
I played this for my spring concert it was a banger I swear I listened to this 500 times while working at school
My 6th grade band is playing "Afterburn: Relaunch" for this year's spring concert
4 years ago, we got 7 in the state marching contest with this. Sadly, I wasn't a part of it, but I did get 6th the next year, so big W.
I have played this during my Middle School Spring Concert at my local high school in 2023.
Such good times.
Man a few years ago we played this in band camp, it was so good and I really miss it 😥

It is in fact a timpani
Mario Kart type of music, like your saving Princess Peach from Bowser in a race.
-Your local Alto Saxist
Bro, I'm also alto sax
Playing this for concert band this year and I’m really excited to play it.
I was when I played it 9 years ago
same i played it last semester
We were sight reading this piece but because Flutes, Trumpets and Clarinets wouldn't stop messing up and it was "Too Fast".
-Your Local Band Nerd
I’m playing this now as 8th grader and I’m this easily one of my favorites lol
I played this last month for my concert and the month before for CPA, this is my second favorite concert piece following Blue Sky Horizon!
i played blue sky horizon and it was an experience (i forgot to play :D)
I'm gonna play colliding visions for my upcoming cpa

@@toxcdays I’m a flutist too- So repetitive, but we’re playing this for a festival too. Despite the repetition, it’s certainly fun to play.
@@hydroxin best of luck!
My school played this last year as a combined piece between all the bands. I'd almost forgotten about it.
I took first today playing this song 95.5 in beginning band

This was the first Randall Standridge piece that I played in band. I played this when I was 8th grade. I was the only tuba in the 7th and 8th grade band that school year.
This song is such a good song I played it and it’s still listen to it,it so good
I played flute and I can tell you that I really enjoyed playing the b flats! 😂😂
Be sure to check out the new version "Afterburn: Relaunch", I changed quite a bit of the flute part to be more involved.
As a trumpet 2 player, this piece is 20% amazing and 80% suffering
I don’t play to trumpet but when we would practice I could feel the pain of the trumpet
@@Bradler-l2pyea.. all the b flats, a flats and all that made it confusing for me
It was easy as pie for me, at least when it came to the fingering. Good thing this is a very repetitive song. The high notes singe the lips though.
0:32 the trombone part 😫
bout to play this, and o muh gawd its so fun. that cord change hits so hard
