😍I am from Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. I was the Concertmaster of the National Symphony Orchestra of Malaysia from 1993-1996. I was honored to be part of this beautiful recording when I was invited to join Colonge Chamber Orchestra by Maestro Helmut Muller-Bruhl in 1995 if I am not mistaken when he visited Kuala Lumpur. A memorable week of recording with great musicians of Colonge Chamber Orchestra and under great leadership of Maestro Helmut Bruhl. And not to forget the magnificent oboe solo by Christian Hommel. R.I.P Maestro Helmut Muller-Bruhl. Mustafa Fuzer Nawi.
Greetings! That must have been a great experience. I can only imagine. I am honored to have visited the same RUclips channel as you! Peace
I did a search and found you! I really am honored. You come from a family accomplished musicians and are yourself an accomplished musician, teacher and quite famous. How cool!
After listening to Bach for an hour I am no longer dreading what needs doing. I'm reacting to situations more calmly and not anxious about anything. Better than medicine.
Exactly. It clears my mind snd calms me.
Bach everyday keeps the Dr away. If I am at all frazzled, instrumental Bach puts my Mind bach in orderly wavelengths and calms me immediately.
Music IS medicine good and bad! Choose the RIGHT one !! 😊 With love from Holland 🇳🇱
No
Nope, not a substitute for much needed medication. It's absolutely essential to take medicines if you need them!
Bach’s music has a healing effect, and a panacea for the soul
...often makes me very sad and remembers me of death...

The reason we still listen to Bach 268 years after his death is because he was brilliant and his music transcends time.
The reason is not "because". That is nonsense.
he was forgotten after death, only mendelssohn rediscovered him

In memoriam in semn de respect si aducere aminte ca un pios omagiu adus aminte marelui si regretatului artist fiind totodata bineinteles preferatul meu maestrul compozitor German johann Sebastian Bach. We are all lucky, we were born after Bach, we share his music with God!
I come back here from time to time because I enjoy these magnificent oboe concertos. I also like reading the comments to see what people from all over the world say about the music.
Bach's music make me feel life is so beautiful and hopeful.
Bach is the only one I can listen to over and over and not tire of ever.
Lo comprendo perfectamente.
You're right BUT try also Albinoni! Two Maestros!! German baroque and ltalian! With love from Holland 🇳🇱
Agree! It does not seem possible but I to listen to Bach over and over and enjoy it as if it something new and wonderful each time. We can understand why Gould hummed and enjoyed his way through many Bach compositions he played. I love listening to Bach and have done so for 62 of my 77 years. I enjoy other Baroque composers as well but always return to Bach. To the glory of God he composed and played!
You need to expand your horizon and get a Handel on things
Hayn and Mozart can make the same effect
If you want to calm down and enjoy being alive, listen to this beautiful music!
There's nothing like, at the end of your shift, you're driving home and listening to Bach. Makes driving feel so much easier. I've been enjoying his music since I was 12. I am now 55 and
my 20 yr. old loves Bach and Baroque music
raulm1961 that's wonderful! I hope my kids will too!
Perfect! I also grew up with classical music and am in my thirties now - unfortunately only few young people listen to that kind of music. The more important it is to give it to your own children at home. If you do not learn it there (or maybe get a glimpse of it at school) you won't hear or do it anymore. There's only pop music or rock music wherever you go. We need to prevent this culture to extinct and cultivate it more. Here in Germany this development is so sad to watch. Classical music also often lacks a picture of "music only for rich people" but it should be for everyone.
My dad was a classical radio announcer and I also grew up listening to Bach among others.
He is preeminent in my book
Soli Deo Gloria
I also started listening to Bach when I was 12. I’m now 19 and haven’t grown tired of his sublime music one bit!

The Music of J.S. Bach ist Music from heaven!!!
+Sandy Thomas Very true!!!
+Sandy Thomas You mean that's the best they could do up, over or wherever it's located?
+Sandy Thomas Jeeezez, I am so tired of all references to "heaven" and "god" in connection with Bach's music. First prove that heaven exists, then prove that the music came from there and not from Bach's pen.
And I'm tired of "proving" everything!
In a world that seems to loose Intuition and the way to the depth of our hearts, People become more and more hopeless and disillusioned! If you don't feel heaven in yourself, in nature and in such Kind of Music
than you deserve my pity!
And if Bach's Music didn't come from heaven, it never came from his PEN, but from his HEAD!
+Nanga Parbat "...refreshment of the soul" - Exactly! The original claim was that his music came from heaven but the quote does not say that.
RUclips is a good place to listen various music by clicks. After listening tens and hundred different music. You come across Bach’s music. All of sudden you will have a strong feeling of peace of mind, feeling of calmness. Is it the reason of Bach’s greatness? In the end day of a man, in the end day of the earth, in the end day of the sun, in the end day of universe, it is not the happy or the sad prevail, it is not the bright or dark prevail. It is the peace of mind, the calmness prevail. Bach music express peace of mind and calmness from the deepest of soul.
***** You are so full of bullshit that it almost ruins the music. Take your superstitions and write them on the non educated religious videos when you can drool with the other delusional fools..
Stop slopping religion into everything. I do not believe in fairy tales. You are the one who is cruel, proselytizing your beliefs into comments as if you know truth. You really don`t. I, along with thousands of others are sick of religious nonsense. It is the ultimate of arrogance on your part to shove that crap at people when it is not wanted, or in this case needed, the music stands on its own. Grow up!
*****
Bach was not a religious bigot like you are. You can`t go to the market without bringing up Jesus. Bach did not go around spouting BS religious crap to justify himself like you do. In fact he was a pretty regular guy. . He fought with his employers and spent time in jail for for it. The oboe pierce in the video had nothing to do with religion nor did it in its original form a harpsichord concerto. His life's work was that of a practical musician who had to make a living for his family, in fact one extended period of his life, he was not employed by the church but was a court composer. Yes he was religious, but you will never find letters from him that proselytize. You lean out intellectually again by stating something that you cannot prove,(just like your religion), that Bach wanted all to see his signature with its inscription. How many people do you think ever saw the inscription even in his life. He wrote the inscription for himself period. Now go breathe some clean fresh air the came from the big bang. Thank goodness religion is dying in enlightened societies. It causes paralysis of the brain.
***** 1. I have seen all the doc. on YT on Bach, none are really passable.2. You are the one who is brainwashed. 3. I passionately hate all religion, not just Christianity. 4. Name a conflict going on now in the middle East that in some way is not bound to religion. Don`t try to give Christianity a pass, because it is as dirty as the other religions. It is all because of the dogmatic stance at all religions take. As Nietzsche said, "All absolutes belong to pathology."
5. As for Bach, he composed as all composers and artists do because this was his essence. The God BS was a sign of the times, and remember he was employed by the church.
6. My problem with you is that you can`t think without referring to your delusion. So what ever you have to say loses credibility. Try commenting on something without including your sickness in you answer. Remember there are many people sick and tired of religion being hammered into conversations that have nothing to do with religion.
If I want to talk about tires, I don`t want religion in the mix, just like I don`t want religion in the mix when I`m talking about an oboe concerto. 7. Bach would have written the oboe concerto even if he was an anti-theist.
8. Bach once was asked, who would be the one person who ever lived he`d like to meet. His answer was Handel, not Jesus.
1.Nietzche was quite sane in his early life, and if you have read his works from youth to the time of his sickness, including some wonderful music he composed, you would know that. 2.As for Hitler, he was a Catholic. 3. As for the benevolence of Christianity, How about the Crusades, Northern Ireland, the arrogant proselyting that has inflicted upon native people in every country most often to the destruction of those societies. The churches mental torture of scientists and thinkers in the middle ages. Christianity is hideous. 4.As for the Bach bibles, he was a a student of the bible, he had to be, because he had to write librettos for the composing of the weekly cantatas. 5.Jesus was a clever guy who fooled the uneducated people around him into believing he was god. No more than that. 6. I have seen the video on Bach`s bible. So what? 7. The B Minor mass is largely a compilation of cantata movements put together with great skill for the purposes of getting a job. As to what was Bach`s mind set during the composition, I do not know, nor do you.
It is quite obvious that we will never agree on anything so I find this a waste of time. So if I see some more crap from you, I will call you on it. Stop inflicting people with your hideous out of date beliefs.
With the advent of the Hubble and CERN your time is limited.
It never fails me just how skillful the musicians are when playing Bach. The joy of the music is emphasized by the musicality of the players. Long live Bach & the skills of the musicians who play for sheer love of his music.
LISTEN HERE GRUNTS. I GOT A MESSAGE FOR YA SO YOU LISTEN AND YOU LISTEN GOOD, JESUS CHRIST OUR MOTHA FO'CKIN SAVIOUR HAS SENT ME TO TELL YOU HE RETURNS SOON, SO GIVE YOUR IVES TO CHRIST!

Johann Sebastian Bach: one of the many climaxes of Western Civilization.
+paoloforever2 Bach's achievements, only matched by Mozart, transcends western civilisation.
+myroseaccount "rivaled", perhaps... "matched"? Never!
Bach is "fresh baked bread and home-churned butter", Mozart is "Dark chocolate and fine red wine"... neither combo could adequately sustain a modern musical life on its own... they are two different courses of the same wonderful banquet.
+myroseaccount The Three Divine...Mozart, Bach and Beethoven. In that order IMO...;-)
Bach and only Bach....
The rest is a par lower, even Mozart the genius.
+paoloforever2
That is so true. I started to listen to Papa Bach in 1962. In the parlance of the Hippie days, I have to say this. The more I listen to Bach, the further inner I go into myself and the further outer I think the composer truly is.
All of Bach’s music is the immortal lullaby of the soul
Not the Matthew Passion. That's searing. And that is calling the soul to account.
Bach is more conducive I think to spiritual unease - the beauty of his music is a beauty longed for, and that longing is satisfied by nothing we can settle on here..

One of the best - perhaps, THE best - of the performances of these oboe concerti, of Johann Sebastian Bach, that I’ve ever heard...! That goes, of course, for the whole orchestra and it’s esteemed conductor, but, especially, for the solo oboist. His intensely sensitive and masterful interpretation brings out poetic and passionate nuances of this great music, with such a degree of crystal clarity, as I’ve rarely felt before.
That´s what I find, too.

Mozart has his moments (a few of the piano sonatas and concertos, the later symphonies, 'Figaro' and 'The Magic Flute'), but only Bach can bring me to tears on a regular basis. Respect.
Mozart was introduced to Bach's music late in his (short) life. But you can tell the difference in his compositions after that. I agree, Bach is # 1.

Up until the 1930's this concerto was thought to be a concerto for harpsichord and strings. At that time there was an idea that it might have been written for another instrument in mind, and in 1935 D.F. Tovey suggested the oboe d'amore. Perhaps he was wrong, but it sure sounds good this way!
Thank you for providing this information!
His music sometimes makes me feel as if I am listening to a celestial discussion.
The birds , the nature, calmness of the soul- everything in the glory of God. That is Bach's music. No other genius in human history can match him. He is gifted directly from heaven. this one is reconstructed i think, only the first minute is original

I think these concertos were written in Coethen, during Bach six-year permanence in this wonderful, calm, agreste, milieu. After years of suffering - both parents, some sons and his first wife died, the composer job was hard and competitive - this magnificent composer had six years of joy. A music-enthusiast new wife (Anna Magdalena). This human environment was, I think, at the base of his wonderful instrumental music composed in Coethen. Do not forget, Bach was an human being, though a genius!
Guido Tellini uz
I have to contradict. Amidst this 'wonderful' period (1717-1723) in the very year 1720 his beloved wife Maria Barbara died unexpectedly during his stay in Karlsbad. His thorough grief and mourning found its expression in the magnificent CHACONNE!
This is beauty, dignity and belief.
Definitively, this concert BWV1055 is one of the most beautiful Bach composed. Great!

Everyone agrees that this Bach fellow was a genius, but no one seems to be mentioning how great these particular soloists are... The Oboe (& her cousins) is really very difficult to play, let alone to tune... aside from the "Boehm system" key-mechanisms, it is pretty much the same instrument it was in Bach's time... and even the modern version of the "Hautbois" is still one of the biggest bitches of the orchestra, (along with the French Horn, of course). Very rarely do Oboists sound as good as this... Happy Listening!
Yes, I notice this too. An astounding player. His sound is amazing, his ornaments and their control, and his phrasing. Oboe is not easy!
Thank for pointing this ....
+Kelvin “Qikai” Wang So instead of: "Very rarely do Oboists sound as good as this", he should have put: "Very rarely do Oboists d'amorists sound as good as this" ?
He plays both oboe and oboe d'amore in this album. Also keep in mind oboe d'amore is in the oboe family, so he is still an oboist.

You're welcom
Nice to hear an orchestra which doesn't overwhelm the sound of the harpsichord, it's pleasant to hear those little riffs and chords which are so often inaudible.
I agree, but then again I love the harpsichord!
Thank the recording and mixing engineers! ;)
***** You're right! I attended a concert a few months ago and they had a replica of a fortepiano, the sound of which disappeared completely when the small accompanying orchestra started to play.
Roberto Dillon Absolutely. It is a blessing of modern recording that the harpsichord can be amplified.
It all sounds like many busy conversations in a crowd that actually makes sense. The conversation of the universe.
Grandissimo musicista: riesce fondere armonia e spiritualità in un unicum eterno. Grazie Bach, grazie di essere esistito.
For me some of the best pieces of music from Bach
I am certain that other great masters learned so much from Bach. Beethoven certainly admired this Genius and I believe he was very inspired by him. This BEAUTY WILL SAVE THE WORLD....Bach's music is the reason. Absolute genius.
One of my students plays the oboe and suggested that I listen to this piece. What absolute delight! Usually I only listen for violins at concerts. I will now add the oboe. Thank you.
& "...don't over intellectualise...appreciate music as music..." Otto Klemperer (commenting on Beethoven)...
El Viejo Bach es Increible! Saludos y abrazos, en donde quiera que este!
I love the calm feeling of BWV 1055. Not many other recordings sound so peaceful. Lovely!
No matter how far I go, I always end up coming back for Bach.
the best beautiful work from Bach ever
Hearing such music makes me sad, because JS Bach had not written more oboe concertos. I read that he had written 2000 pieces of music, but we know only about 1000 of them. 1000 are lost forever. What a pity. What a loss for mankind.
You may be more disappointed when I tell you that Bach did not even write this one (at least the first one in the video). Alessandro Marcello did.
Fico Triste de saber uma coisa dessa.A música de Bach é divina, um gigante da música.quantas coisas lindas devem estar perdidas.
***** ncorrect...the oboe d'amore version was taken from Bach's cembalo/piano concerto, same number. I played it during my studies in Germany .
+WA_rocks You are so right!
Mountain Painter what a beautiful vibrational frequency.. I am moved to tears each time I hear. Also music of Handel. His Italian l
Operas...wjat joy!!
Christian Hommel b.1963 ... studied oboe with Heinz Holliger in Freiburg and piano under James Avery ... co-founder and conductor of the "Ensemble Aventure" for contemporary music... professor at the "Hochschule für Künste" in Bremen ...
All of Bach’s music will quench and moisturize the dryness of the soul of busy modern people
Christian Hommel is a star. Tremendous artistry and touch.
Como el oboe me llena el alma y me transporta. Gracias por compartir!!!!
Bach...faith in humanity restored.
¿?
Incredible sound and interpretation of Christian Hommel. This recording is a huge favorite for years.
I really love this kind of music, is heavenly, like Mozart's, Vivaldi's, bethoveen's. Strauss's and the list goes ... ¡THANKS!!!!
Oh....grande BACH...cuantos le debemos en este mundo, los mejores momentos que nos haces pasar, que legado más vigente después de más de 300 años........
Greetings from Lahore, Pakistan. This is a wonderful piece, many thanks for the upload.
..and your comment is STILL "out here", 3 yr later. I hope you're doing well, Mr. Yusuf !
Johann Sebastian Bach: Concertos For Oboe & Oboe D'Amore
I don't mean to be unkind, Mr. Yusuf, but there are people in your Government who would put you in jail for 30 years for listening to a Christian Composer. I wish you good luck.

@@sanjosemike3137 Where have you got that information from? There are many Christians in Pakistan!
