    Hi Hila, im Mexican so tamales are a must in our home every year for Christmas! A little trick so your hands don't burn after peeling the peppers, take a little bit of butter and rub it all over your hands like you would lotion and wash your hands right away once you're finished peeling them, your hands will not burn and they'll be super soft afterwards!😄 Btw- those look so delicious, I can't wait for Christmas!!😋😋

    Great job Hilah! But you may want to spread the masa wider so that you do not have to flip flop the sides to get it to close. Also you can roll in from one side to the other and not have to use ties at all.
    This is the way my Mexican grandma (RIP) Taught me how to make them.
    Love you Hilah!!!

    I made your homemade hot sauce the day after you posted the video. It now goes on EVERYTHING! I would be tempted to put it in these tamales instead of the salsa verde, :) You're not kidding about the masa expanding during cooking. The first time I made them, I unwittingly put too much into the corn husks and I could barely finish 1 tamale at dinner! My husband and I felt like we had eaten an entire loaf of bread! Very filling! :D

    we use a comal, or if you don't have one, a coffee cup in the middle to help support the tamales if you're making a buttload.
    also, I find it commendable you'd make tamales without having a huge tamalada =]

    i am a bit surprised by this video, mostly because I live in Mexico city where you can find tamales at every single corner and every time I order one of this rajas con queso tamal, it is always filled with red sauce, rajas and cotija cheese. But your recipe sounds amazing, I love salsa verde with everything and Manchego is one of my favourite cheeses ever so I will try this and I hope is amazing. Anyway, I'm glad I found your channel again, for some reason I lost track of Hilah Cooking, I think RUclips unsubscribed me or something but I subscribed again.
    Have you tried Tamales Oaxaqueños? those are bigger than traditional tamales and insted of using corn husks you use banana leaves. The salsa verde one with chicken is the best.

    • @hilahcooking
      @hilahcooking  7 лет назад

      +Emmanuel Campero that sounds great! I don't think I've seen tamales oaxaqueños, are they kind of like Guatemalan tamales? I've made those and they are good!
      Glad to have you back! 😊

    • @EmmanuelCampero
      @EmmanuelCampero 7 лет назад +1

      I just googled Guatemalan tamales and yeah, you could say they are the same thing. I'm not sure what they use for filling but Oaxaqueños could be filled with green sauce and chicken, mole, red sauce and pork, and lots of things. I love them.
