The Our Cinema Oscar Special perfectly sums up a lucid stress dream. You dream that you're about to do your favorite thing, but one component is always missing or the dream changes before you get to do it.

Even back in the On Cinema Podcast days, the first episode Gregg does solo has a weird "phaser" effect on the audio. Truly impressive how bad you'd have to be to accidentally ruin the audio that bad xD
What’s weird is that Gregg’s couple episodes where he hosted Season 6, is that those were some of the better episodes of all time. So he can handle it solo at least in episode format

15:11 You saying _'..when he's supposedly off on this amazing trip in Dubai, his attention is firmly fixed on what Gregg is doing with the Oscar's special'_ followed by audio of Tim _yelling_ the lyrics of Oscar Fever at Gregg through the phone. This universe makes me laugh so much I can't breathe. It is the funniest thing ever.
That segment breakdown was a perfect encapsulation of Our Cinema. It can not be understated how hard it is to purposely make something look bad in real time. They knocked it out of the park
Love how things always come to a head in the darkest ways by the end and yet continue a few weeks later like no big deal. Easily the funniest stuff you can find online if you have a dark sense of humor.
I love how the special turns the moment Gregg tells Tim to jump off a skyscraper. It not only removes Gregg’s likability but also makes Tim sympathetic in his pain even if Tim is undermining Gregg again.
I stumbled across OCATC by chance one day and was immediately hooked. I'm working my way through the Oscars specials again. When I found Tim and Eric's night live it was the icing on the cake , the valentines special will forever be etched in my mind. 😂
Worth noting; apparently the reason they did this special instead of the usual Oscar Special had to do with Adult Swim not allocating them a proper budget. It speaks so much to the teams showmanship that they still managed to pull something together that 100% works in universe
In s9e5 when Julianna comes out to see Tim's new face, he says "you took care of that other problem, I know that was a hard decision to make" I don't think we ever got confirmation of what happened with Ayaka's second pregnancy.

In the trial, Ayaka has a new husband and is raising a daughter. Tim asks if there is a need for a paternity test but the objection is sustained and we don't get an answer
You touch on this at the end, but I do think the ultimate punchline to the special is that it has like a quarter the views/engagement of every other special. The story is seeping into the real world
