Tights (or pantyhose) are extremely common in all of Europe. They're comfortable, thin, come in multiple colours and fabrics (including thermal) and as opaque or transparent as you want. They make the legs look uniform and elegant and add an extra layer against the cold.
Only Americans seem to have an issue with them and it's getting exhausting!
Try living in the US South in summer with those hose.

As for tights, when wearing new shoes, it's much better for children to wear sock or tights to help avoid getting sores and blisters. So I'm with the Princess of Wales on this one.
A growing number of "rules" have been fading away bought about by the King, Queen and the Wales's, for example their boys wear long trousers, a no no at their ages for the King and his siblings when young. I expect many more will go over the coming years.

She is not a Princess Royal; that can only be bestowed by her father and after the death of Princess Anne. Once King Charles III dies and William becomes King, and Princess Anne has died, then and only then will Charlotte become Princess Royal, at the discretion of her daddy.

Not necessarily true about Charlotte not being given a Duchy. It’s been rumored that Princess Charlotte may be given the title of Duchess of Edinburgh when she’s of age just like her grandmother. The late great Queen Elizabeth II was given the title of Duchess of Edinburgh before she married Phillip and he was bestowed the Dukedom. The Dukedom of Edinburgh isn’t a hereditary dukedom but rather is given by the monarch. If not given that, she’ll most likely become The Princess Royal once her Aunt has sadly passed.

@babs5968 Sorry but no, that's not how the title works. That title is not automatic. The Princess Royal before Anne was Princess Mary and she died 28 March 1965. Anne did not receive the title until 1987. That's 22 years later. And it's never a guaranteed title.

Kind of sad, I’d hate to grow up not being able to do what my average friends can do. No wonder Harry rebelled...he was forced to follow rules without even a promise of becoming someone important. I'm not even expert in European history, but it was mentioned in school that existence of monarchs in most civilised and developed countries (like in EU or Japan, not like in Middle East, they have different ruling traditions) is symbolic.
