Well... the product is great. But the sell strategy is tragic. Soon or later someone will create a alternative device with affordable price (and desafortunablely that Romanian company will suffer). Pity.
Seems pretty pointless ngl. It's still like $300 on their website and even if it was $75, why spend $75 plus the price of a new battery when you can just buy a new battery and be done with the repair. 99% of battery problems are a dead or unbalanced cell, not a controller problem. You can jump the battery with a power supply if you really wanted to be cheap and cause more damage via expanding cells or fire, or just replace it with a good battery for $25-40. Not to mention that bypassing a battery lockout like that will land you in deep legal trouble if you hand it back to a customer like that and it causes any damage. No amount of liability waiver will help you in that case, because you're intentionally, and knowingly bypassing a safety device. Not that I'm saying there's a significantly higher risk of issues by doing this, just that all batteries that exist, even brand new ones, have a risk of igniting or exploding. By bypassing their lockout, you are now absorbing all liability if that happens. The new battery might explode as well, but you as a business have done your due diligence and are absolved of liability.
It looks like you have nothing to do with batteries. Just take a high quality copy battery and open it and take a look inside then we discuss. "99% of battery problems are a dead or unbalanced cell, not a controller problem". It makes no sense, a dead or unbalanced issue means by default a PF flag set in the chip so a CHIP issue :) Our customers recover the license investment price in just 1 day, yes, 1 day, not 2 or 3. As I posted in a previous video regarding this device, anything needing a subscription for hardware that one has purchased is just scummy. The way you go overboard to praise it just makes it look like you're being paid to promote it. If they locked the battery data when you purchased it, then sold updates for newer batteries, that's one thing, but to keep demanding money for kit one has already paid for is reprehensible.
A completely normal behaviour in the automotive world. So, although nobody likes this, it's a common business model nonetheless. That's one of the reason you have to charge for diagnose.
I think guys here are confusing the hardware for battery test and the subscrition only for battery unlock. You can have the hardware and software for battery testing without the subscription. I don't unlock batteries, so no need! About the hardware beeing paired with only a PC, well it's a way of protecting. This could be improved yes, but not big issue!
Exactly, you can do really PRO analysis using NO subscription. Linking the device to a PC is a secure measurement, anyway, several PC changes are allowed :)

Personally, I have few batteries to fix with me as well but no way I am paying that much money for the yearly subscription. If there is a option to pay per repair like couple of $ for each unlock, I will still happy to buy the over priced hardware unit and use it. Agreed. They should have a rate-limited option suitable for hobbyists. I'd be happy with one unlock a week, which should be pretty much free.
If we sell the NLBA1 project to Fluke, they will put their logo and will resell such a PRO unique Battery Analyzer for about 9000$ :) Then you will say, ohhh, for 1000$ I am ready to buy it. I am talking only about the NLBA1 analyzer and not the magic Repair Function. Magic Repair function will be sold by fluke most probably for 10k $ per year:)
Fluke BT521 Battery Tester costs about 6000$ :)) It is just a cell tester, NLBA1 is much more advanced, unique on the market, and able to analyze Smart Batteries, not cells.
@@nipembedded9976 keep it as it is.. I'm not saying anything about the tool itself, is very nice and very functional.. you can even spread more the advertising to make more money and maybe create more advanced design and maybe version too..
The point is the classic consumer can't effort those prices, is a very awesome tool for repair centers..
Fluke is not going to buy it. They would destroy their brand name.
Hi Sorin, the license is still $250 for 1 year
If you talk to the manufacturer they have a facility to get a 10 year license. It will cost about $70 a year if you pay for that package at once.
The price is still 249$ for 1 year and this is pretty expensive!! So funny - you have to laught because of the "hugh" discount of 10$!! 🤣🤣
There are different options for Chip Reset License, 1 year, 2 years and 10 years. 249$ is actually the price of 2 Macbook batteries, our customers repair in general hundreds of such batteries.
@@nipembedded9976 But fixing a couple used batteries (locked) per year makes a 249$ fee extremly expensive. I think a much lower yearly fee would be much attractive. I thought 69$ mentioned in the video per year is a attractive price. I would never buy a 10 year plan in advance.
I don't know what is going on between Sorin and this company, but it seems a bit fishy to me.
Will this work on anything other than laptop batteries? DeWalt batteries executory.
The problem is the license, expensive for what it is and its not permanent making the device not worth it at all.
The license for 1 year is the price of 2-3 genuine batteries. If it is better for you to throw away tens or hundreds of batteries in a year then no problem, keep it going :)
@@nipembedded9976 For me the problem is a license. I'm a software developer first, and then a technician second. That said I would never charge limited license, and never did. Not to mention selling hardware and software and still only selling limited license. Battery reset is not all this device is capable of. In my eyes your business model is moraly wrong.
@@nipembedded9976 There is a chance i have to throw the device away too thanks to planned obsolescence so i don't see the difference.

How much is 10 Macbook Genuine batteries in Brazil ? In Romania is about 1500 eur.
Well... the product is great. But the sell strategy is tragic. Soon or later someone will create a alternative device with affordable price (and desafortunablely that Romanian company will suffer). Pity.
@@rogerioayres Fluke BT521 costs 6000$, if Fluke puts their logo on NLBA1 they will ask you for about 9000$ :)
Indeed. Excellent point. 🤔😏👏
It looks like you have nothing to do with batteries. Just take a high quality copy battery and open it and take a look inside then we discuss.
"99% of battery problems are a dead or unbalanced cell, not a controller problem". It makes no sense, a dead or unbalanced issue means by default a PF flag set in the chip so a CHIP issue :)
Our customers recover the license investment price in just 1 day, yes, 1 day, not 2 or 3. Thanks to NLBA1, thousands of genuine batteries are saved daily from being thrown away and replaced by fake copy "high quality" batteries.

@@davidbolha Very interesting playlist indeed which I have saved! Thanks!👍
He never mentioned the ten year subscription….
Thanks!
Can i get this software without payment
I only repair about 2 to 3 laptop for the year, I would love to buy this but the license is to expensive for me to buy. If it was about $70 per year I would deffenitly buy it. Can't afford to buy 10 years at once. My shop is a very small shop.

Good evening sir

Honestly, I'm sure it's a great tool and all but I can't really see myself ever using it. People are wasteful these days and just don't care. I also can't see myself paying a subscription for any software.
The analyzer does not need any subscription. Chip Reset Option can be bought at any time, with no recurring payments. Do not make confusions.
@@nipembedded9976 I know. The analyzer is another large fee. It's basically just a power supply that is useless without a subscription. Waay too much and reoccurring for its main function. Now if there were a pricing model option for, say, $2 an unlock, I might be inclined to do that sort of thing. It'd be good for the company in the long run as well.

8:34 you can't ensure that you live 10 years so ill never subscribe for more than 1 year, 1 year at a time, 10 years subscription is alot and its not guaranteed what if the owner died ? or switch career , even if its cheap its not worth it

250 USD per year is very expensive and the comments here of buyers are not positive..... Personally I hate hardware with subscriptions. It is a terrible evolution. It's like buying a BMW with heated seats and then paying a subscription to enable the feature. It is very anti-repair in the sense that pro-repair people tend to assume you own the hardware (including the right to repair) after you paid for it.
To me it sounds like WEF's policy ("You'll own nossing...). 🤔😒

While I appreciate the usefulness of this product, the manufacturer's business model is unfair to small businesses and DIY people.
Personally, I have few batteries to fix with me as well but no way I am paying that much money for the yearly subscription.
If there is a option to pay per repair like couple of $ for each unlock, I will still happy to buy the over priced hardware unit and use it.
At this stage they are ripping off customers due to no competition.
Agreed. Even something like $5-10 per battery unlock would be good for a lot of customers. I maybe come across one locked battery every two months so it's definitely not worth it for a small repair business like mine.
