She went on to do Broadway and failed in winning any Tonys which Broadway plays are on a stage and Romeo and Juliet is a play for the stage? Back then abuse of woman was even more common and not seen as wrong as it now they were supposed to respect men a lot of physical abuse was done at that time especially in the deep south.
I believe that there is also a 'True Romance'-reference there. This 1993 movie directed by Tony Scott and written by Quentin Tarantino, could be seen as a sort of messed up contemporary take on Romeo & Juliet.
Since you know a lot about Romeo and Juliet you should react to Reduced Shakespeare Company's version of Romeo and Juliet. Three guys act it out in 13 minutes and it's hilarious. They also did Hamlet in 40 minutes.
I think romeo and juliet won simply through juliet as well. Romeo didn't contribute much even if it was just juliet vs bonnie and clyde juliet would have won. Maybe the most savage performance ever in erb by juliet. I suggest george carlin vs richard pryor or Mr t vs mr rogers next.
