Before my first visit to Israel, shortly after the Yom Kippur war, like many Irish I had a different opinion of Israel & the Palestinians, much of it incorrectly conflated with Ireland’s history of 800 years of colonisation and subjugation by Britain. I visited many of the Jewish and Christian biblical sites and the Kibbutzim which were attacked by Egypt but my visit to Yad Vashem had the greatest impact and led me to more extensive historical research. In particular the role of Britain in the establishment of the new state of Israel is misunderstood and is cited as the evil coloniser and facilitator of Jewish colonisation of Palestine. It ignores the fundamental right of the Jews to self determination in their historical homeland after several millennia of persecution and expulsion and the duplicitous role of the Brits making competing promises to the Jews & Arabs for the land during WW1 in return for their support against the Ottomans. This very much came to a head early in the mandate with the Arabs believing they had been betrayed. Britain’s solution was to create two new Arab States, Iraq and Transjordan, installing two Hashemite brothers as rulers. The land for Transjordan came from segmenting the area of Palestine to the east of the River Jordan. As we know, this did not placate the Arabs in the remaining part of Palestine and opposition to the Jews turned to violence. Over the next two decades Britain’s position changed due to overriding strategic interests in the wider Middle East and they began to restrict Jewish immigration and in 1937 produced the first partition plan for the territories giving a relatively small area to the Jews, accepted by them but rejected by the Arabs. And, of course everything that has ensued following Israel declaring its independence is heavily biased towards the Palestinians who have successfully played the victim card, being displaced and subjugated by the military might of Israel funded by America which is itself controlled by American Jews and have rejected every attempt at a solution of peaceful coexistence. As you so eloquently articulate, it is not a question of land, it is a question of land without the Jews. There was a massive relocation of peoples throughout Europe post WW2, I think the allies and the UN missed the opportunity regarding the Arabs in Palestine and quite frankly they should have been compulsorily dispersed to Jordan, less those who would accept becoming citizens in a greater (but relatively small) state of Israel. I think we're past the point of a viable 2 state solution, but a single state has to look quite different from the Israel we have today, maybe a federation of sorts with a couple Palestinian states as the components. The first real step for peace, is strong Israeli leadership in rebuilding Gaza for the Palestinians after this war. Win hearts and minds and pave the road to coexistence.
Einat makes too much sense. I wish Israeli politicians would listen more to her ideas, because without identifying the root of the issue, there is no chance of ever solving it

The Palestinians rejected the offer (described below) because it would have turned the West Bank into a version of what Gaza has since become: A fenced in enclave with the IDF on the border controlling everything and everyone who would enter or leave. Under the deal the "state" would have had less freedom and authority than a US city council and substantially less than South Africa's Bantustans. Peace has not been achieved because Israelis who still believe that Zionism is a viable project are incapable of making a deal that the Palestinians could accept. This is description of the offer is from Shlomo Ben-Ami book, _Prophets Without Honor:_ Barak's offered a "state" without an army, with Israel in control of the borders, the airspace, telecommunications and an undefined period of continued IDF occupation of the Jordan Valley. The IDF would retain the right to deploy on Palestinian territory if security demanded it. The Haram al Sharif and most Palestinian neighborhoods in Jerusalem would remain under Israeli sovereignty with guaranteed Palestinian access, and the Palestinian capital would be fashioned from what was left of Jerusalem and incorporating adjacent villages into the Jerusalem municipality. 1000 refugees would be allowed to return per year on humanitarian grounds, but only with Israeli consent. The rest could return to Gaza and the West Bank and those who did not would be compensated from a fund to be set up mostly by the Gulf states. The Palestinians were not allowed to keep any documents or maps laying out the offer and Israel has never published it. Public accounts have been reconstructed from notes taken by negotiators.
I am an American Jewish immigrant to Israel. I live in Haifa in a uniquely diverse neighborhood which for me, as a New Yorker, feels like home. I have next door neighbors who are Jews, Filipinos, Russians, Arab Christians and Arab Muslims among others. I see the problem as being this. In 1920 the League of Nations created the British Mandate of Palestine. In 1948 the British left. To whom does this land belong now? Most Jews claim that all or most of it belongs to them. Most Muslims claim that it belongs to them. At the present time approximately 90% of the former Mandate is in Jewish hands and 10% is in Muslim hands (Gaza plus areas A and B on the West Bank). The population is about 2/3 Israeli citizens and 1/3 Palestinians (meaning residents of Gaza plus areas A and B on the West Bank). It should be noted that Israeli citizen Muslims generally begrudgingly support the state of Israel. They know that their standard of living is higher and their human rights are better than they would be under an Islamic government. It seems to me that this situation is not sustainable. Eventually the Israeli Jews must disappear or the Palestinians must disappear. Considering that globally there are about 100 times as many Muslims as there are Jews, it would seem that the odds are in favor of the Muslims in the long term, meaning over the course of the next 25 to 100 years.
Well, maybe you're right. That said, Biblically speaking Israel will experience a day so awful It's known as Jacob's trouble....But the Messiah will return and destroy your enemies and usher in the Millennial Kingdom. Israel will prevail!
Wishful.... but unlikely. There is no other Jewish country. There are 30 plus majority Arab/Muslim countries. Jordan, Lebanon have very large Palestinian populations. I doubt Israel is leaving their one and only homeland!
One comment Einat: You cannot TELL your adversary of the vision YOU have for THEM. About Hamas and the PA population; THEIR VISION cannot change unless THEY DESIRE to change it. You skillfully avoid mentioning religion because you are an atheist EInat. The essence lies in the religion Israel's islamic neighbours hold; their prophet tells them to punish the Jews and the Christians because they fervently believe that these two groups have not obeyed the rules of God. Allah, as they call God, is very much the revenging, punishing God from the Old Testament, the Torah, who wipes out those who do not as told. Now, if you are deeply convinced of this 'vision' you are not going to convince them of building a 'State' and be good neighbours. The carpenter Jew from the New Testament said that He did not come to change the Law (Jewish Law) but came to fulfill it and when you read that book from beginning to end you'll find that He does not preach revenge and punishment but persuades listeners to believe him and follow what he says. In my opinion you can find a spot of connection with Israel's neighbours if you find common ground based the difference between the Quran and the Jewish Holy Books in particular the NT (which I see as a continuation of the story of the Jews, because the OT is too much as they do already; btw. do you realize that Israel's behaviour as a nation is so much as your fellow Jew Yeshua from the NT describes as desirable?) I think reason and rational debate is a characteristic of highly educated people who live mostly in their heads (Jews) and most of the modern democracies. Israel's neighbours function on their emotions based on their 'holy' beliefs. Religion is very emotional. Communication has to start on that level. You MUST make the connection between these religious beliefs and your right to exist. Your adversaries are NOT atheists (even though their leaders my crave money and power). Their motivation is NOT rational and to approach it from that angle is not going to work.
Many excellent points, albeit missing the central issue, which is that Judaism IS NOT just an identity, for as has been seen lately, identities are often fluid. Any discussion of Israel that blatantly ignores Torah Judaism is simply ifniring the whole picture.

Killing your own people!
Very important interview. Thank you both.
So wise, so so wise. Thank you, Einat. Thank you.
If only the Palestinians would wipe the hatred from their eyes and accept Israel as a neighbour
Imagine having Powerful Israel on your side! Imagine what trust on both sides would bring!
That one Palestinian who will say the truth publicly about Hamas and the Palestinians is Mosab Hassan Yousef! I would love to watch a debate by Einat and Mosab against two articulate Hamas apologists. If Bari, or Jordan Peterson, or Douglas Murray, or Dr. Phil can arrange that, I would pay good money to watch!
She is eloquent, easy to listen to. She makes sense and there is no doubt she is tough like all Israeli
I think Einat is the “new” leadership Israel needs. No one has ever explained the Palestinian/Israeli conflict so articulately and precisely as Einat. Thank you…
Einat please run for prime minister in israel 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Japan could only be reformed when they surrendered.
Japan was Not on Our Border Neither was IRAQ and Afghanistan
Such a great conversation and opening eyes about the conflict,we'll keep spreading truth and light and fighting for hope and for peace🙏🇮🇱💛
Brilliant and insightful interview
There will be peace when the Arabs love their children more than they hate us - Golda. True when she said it and true now.
Absolutely, when they decide life is better than death!
The next "Golda" ?????????
Einat is brilliant.
Love Bari Weiss, highly recommend The Free Press. There’s also a great book called “How To Fight Antisemitism”.
I’ll get Dr. Einat Wilf book too I guess, really impressed with the vision in this interview.
Absolutely marvelous. I could not stop listeling even thoug I had much else to do. I must get her book but I found not mention of the title.
Amazing and true testament to the core problem that Israel faces and the true solution to the peace process
Einat makes too much sense. I wish Israeli politicians would listen more to her ideas, because without identifying the root of the issue, there is no chance of ever solving it
I hope the politicians and “leaders “ hear this
I teared up when she said we became Shtetl without the army again.
Great conversation, brought up important points, thank you.
Einat is the future of us. Thank you.
Finally a clear presentation!
Every pro-Israeli person should listen to this interview and read her book The War of Return.
love to listen to you both!!
Thank you, I have always been taught by my parents and have taught my children to be proud of being Jewish and being a Zionist. Respect yourself
Thank you Einat.
This is a wonderful intellectual duet between these two women, interviewer and political expert.
I don’t think any of us watching this interview fully comprehend the tremendous, jaw-dropping and astounding ignorance of the average American, British and European college demographic. More needs to be done to reach these naive young people and to counter the extensive anti-Semitic propaganda they are being force-fed.
Yes, these words need to be taken for real 💔.
From a song: "There will never be any peace until God is seated at the conference table." I admire Einat,, she is brilliant speaker, articulate, intelligent. She still needs the Force that created her and all of us. Not religion! The intelligent Force that set in motion the existence of the whole reality. There is so much we do not know but it is imprinted in Nature for us to discover and respect its laws.
תודה לשתיכן
Thank you both! ❤🖖🇮🇱🇨🇦
She should definitely run for office. A person with her understanding is what the leader of Israel needs to have.
This is exactly what I have been saying about Palestinians!! It just facts!
Great conversation 😊
The Palestinians rejected the offer (described below) because it would have turned the West Bank into a version of what Gaza has since become: A fenced in enclave with the IDF on the border controlling everything and everyone who would enter or leave. Under the deal the "state" would have had less freedom and authority than a US city council and substantially less than South Africa's Bantustans. Peace has not been achieved because Israelis who still believe that Zionism is a viable project are incapable of making a deal that the Palestinians could accept.
This is description of the offer is from Shlomo Ben-Ami book, _Prophets Without Honor:_
Barak's offered a "state" without an army, with Israel in control of the borders, the airspace, telecommunications and an undefined period of continued IDF occupation of the Jordan Valley.
100%. I am staggered by the smug, historically lazy comments lapping up this equally smug, nonsensical discussion.
Great to see you again
❤❤❤ Thank You! ❤❤❤
Great work ladies
Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib. That's the name and voice you're looking for I believe.
Russians? you mean Jews from the former USSR who speak russian?
Well, maybe you're right. That said, Biblically speaking Israel will experience a day so awful It's known as Jacob's trouble....But the Messiah will return and destroy your enemies and usher in the Millennial Kingdom. Israel will prevail!
@@FYI003 And maybe that just happened, hmmm yes Hashem will prevail!!
Wishful.... but unlikely. There is no other Jewish country. There are 30 plus majority Arab/Muslim countries. Jordan, Lebanon have very large Palestinian populations. I doubt Israel is leaving their one and only homeland!
@@Diamondsrsgbf I used the word "disappear" which doesn't necessarily mean leaving. There is another way to make people disappear.
היה נהדרת ממש מעולה....she is great
One comment Einat: You cannot TELL your adversary of the vision YOU have for THEM.
In my opinion you can find a spot of connection with Israel's neighbours if you find common ground based the difference between the Quran and the Jewish Holy Books in particular the NT (which I see as a continuation of the story of the Jews, because the OT is too much as they do already; btw. do you realize that Israel's behaviour as a nation is so much as your fellow Jew Yeshua from the NT describes as desirable?)
I think reason and rational debate is a characteristic of highly educated people who live mostly in their heads (Jews) and most of the modern democracies.
