Glad you found this helpful. It's not the only way to breed them but it's worked well for me. Let me know if you have any questions I can help you with.
@@kattiq4268 you don't have to feed BBS but in my experience you get better growth and earlier color with it. Hikari first bites will work though as a first food.
Will they eat their own eggs if they have the chance? I have passively bred corydoras in my community tank with the high density of plants so I'm wondering if I could passively breed furcatas as well.
They do eat their own eggs. I'm sure you could get some going in a heavily planted species tank. They don't lay a lot of eggs and they would eat the fry in the first few weeks which is why I use spawning mops.
In my experience they will breed across a pretty wide range of parameters so unless your parameters are pretty extreme I wouldn't worry to much about them. My PH is around 6.8, GH around 9, KH around 4 and temp is 78. Hope you've subscribed!
You could if you want to move the mop out later but it's not absolutely necessary. I like to use mops because sometimes I like to keep my grow out tanks bare bottom with no plants so I can keep a better eye on the fish.
Very interesting.Would they be big enough to live with American cichlids as dither fish do you think? Eg: geophagus tapajo ,kribensis and a blood parrot?
It would depend on the tank set up. If it's heavily planted and there is no spawning behavior from the other fish I think you could do it but it's a risk.

@@IansFishRoom great! Do you have to feed them live Bb? I have Hikari first bites I’ve used for other fry and would prefer to use that if possible.

Thanks! Definitely better than my first video.
I have a stupid question: Do the breeding mops have to be green?
They do not have to be green.

SUUUPER HELPFUL THANKS BRO 😇
Make sure to let me know it works out for you!
Would u recommend putting the mop in a planted tank

How long does it take for the fry to mature to max size?
Forktail grow for there entire life but have most of there size at about 1 year.
Where can I get these fish
I'd start with your local fish store. They should be able to order them. I got my from aquahuna.

How about a ten gallon with only 6-7 gallons of water ??
That should probably work
