    I have purchased a number 5 fude nib from PENdihl here in the UK for £4.99 and swapped it into my Jinhao 8802 mother of pearl windows pen and I have been experimenting with this all day and I love it.

      Excellent, They are great nibs for those who like a wider wetter line.

    I'm really enjoying bent nibs too. The line fluctuation isn't as consistent as say a stub nib, but they're more forgiving. While it takes some practice to get complete control on how to draw your lines, you have a lot more control on the result.
    I got a bent nib with the Delike War & Peace that isn't nearly as broad as the ones you have here. It's great for cheaper office paper.

    New sub here! Wanted to comment to show your viewers that you are still making an impact years down the road! Man! You're a life saver! I'm brand new to Fountain pens and this classic example will demonstrate just how much! I got a set of Jinhao 450 and went to ink them up. Now one of them didn't perform right off the bat, so I took a closer look to determine the problem -- only to notice the Bent Nib. Being a complete novice I thought, " Out of the five pens at least one has to be defective, right? " So my dumb butt tries actually straighten the flipping nib out! 😂 Ain't that a hoot! No luck! And now I'm mad 😤 and throw the pen into the trash! 😀😀😀 I know you're just dying here with this dog and pony show I'm giving you! But as fate would have it, I stumbled across this video an hour later! OMG! I was so embarrassed! And quickly ran to my office trash can and retrieved the one seemingly defective pen! Thanks for this video and you can stop laughing now!

      There are also 40 degree Sailor fude nibs. I got a Duke 209 off ebay to experiment with fude nibs for sketching purposes and it's been fun, even though I'm not really any good haha.
      Thanks for the video.

    An excellent technical review, with facts we would-be purchasers need. I bent the nib in a budget-end Waterman school-type pen on a whim, -it wrote surprisingly well. So I went to eBay and got one of these sets of spare nibs for a better-quality Wing Sung I own... such budget pens allow amateur pen folk like me to have fun trying out different nibs and feeds.

  • @yifenghu4979

    Great demo! Give me some feeling about the pens' performance. Sidenote: The bent nib is not very common among English writing instruments I think. However, people regularly use them for Chinese and Japanse caligraphy. It gives a wider range of line width when writing thus making characters in Chinese and Japanse more pleasing to look at:)

    • @chrisrap52
      @chrisrap52  5 лет назад +2

      I've read these nibs were designed to mimic brush pens that are used for calligraphy.

      chrisrap52 I am not if they are purposely designed for mimicking bush pen in calligraphy or just for mimicking bush pen, as I do have a friend making all her arts with bent nib pens instead of bush pen:)

    Good Morning, Mr. 52,
    Late to the party, I know .. but what a coincidence - I think I knew your Aunt, B.
    Anyway, I'm Sgt. Friday with the English Police.
    Just wanted to say, first, very nice review on these special nib-forms & their many exciting possibilities for your 200th episode. Now, as soon as we learn to spell v-e-r-t-i-c-a-l we can move on to the 300th! ~;》
    One further way you didn't show is to use them on-edge (L&R) for thin lines with variant width. Kinda like an Architect on steroids. Fun; give it a try.
    Rock on - that lightning's out there somewhere!

    I think the delike bent nib is more of a mild waverly or architect, whereas these are fude nibs.
    The sailor fude de mannen is the pen you're talking about, absolutely get the 45 degree, it's so much better than the 55
    I find the 450/750/159 to all be super wet but all of them seem to run dry as you write more than a couple sentences

    Will a 35 mm nib fit into a no 6 pen like the jinhao? Getting conflicting responses

    • @chrisrap52
      @chrisrap52  3 года назад +2

      Most No. 6 nibs are 35 mm in length including Jinhao. No. 6 refers to diameter of feed, 6 mm. Some 6 mm nibs are 32 mm in length, some Wing Sungs.

    I've been thinking of whether I should get bent nibs or a set of Zebra G nibs. I'm new to fps and I'd like to customize one of my Jinhaos, make it a pen w a line variation. If ever you see this, what do you think is a better choice? I've got a Jinhao 159 atm and a 992 is still on delivery. Thank you in advance ((:

      I would get bent nibs. My x450 with Zebra nib is not a good writer (video coming). If possible get a variety of bent nibs. Nib sizes different between thee pens, the 159 uses a 6 nib the 992 uses a 5.

    I just bought two Delike Alpha pens - I ordered the bent nib. The package arrived and I was deeply disappointed. The bent nibs were extra fine... I wanted something that was smooth and lays down a nice patch of ink. What nib could I buy to replace the ones that came with my pen? Is there a 45 degree nib that would give me a Rolls Royce kind of experience. I am eager to hear your reply
