Soooo happy you talked about TALL and SHORT people. I thought I was doing something wrong because I just dont do well with Sumo. I love the conventional......Im also 6'0''. Thank you girlie!
Agree! I was always told the other way around (I'm 181cm so I guess that's a similar height) and I never for the life of me could figure out why I was so shit at the sumo. Turns out it's the other way and I was right with my instincts. :)
Same here, I’m 5’3 with a long torso and short legs and I’ve been doing conventional and I’ve hated it- for some reason I’ve been too scared to try sumo 😭
I just recently found this channel and i love it. My buddies laugh at me for listening to a female about lifting, and none of them even lift. I've told them that meg is stronger than they are, as males, and that seems to shut them up lol.

No pain no struggling I managed to get more sets in and a heavier set done. Thanks for the advice ❤️😎 #StrongStrongFriend here
Jillian Norman me too 💪🏼 my coach actually had me go back to basics when I started strongwoman to learn proper technique! You get stuck in old habits that’s for sure!
I'm offloading a little and going back to basics too, to improve my form, so that I can move on, without injury. I can lift about 115kgs on a bar, but I'm not feeling confident about my upper back, and want to stay safe.

just discovered your channel. so, so, so good! very informative, extremely clear, and encouraging. wish i had come across you earlier in my fitness journey
First time watching this channel. I have found that women do just about all things technically correct. They learn the forms and movements with strict form and technique and work slowly to increase or improve the task from a golf swing to weightlifting.
Watching this in 2021 and remembering when my legs were starting to look like that and I was so PROUD! Seeing your own musculature (i think thats the word) makes you feel so strong! I havent been lifting for a few years, and even back then I was still a beginner, but I aspire to see those cuts again! Thanks for the inspo!

You made me passionate about my training again and not just a ‘spose I have to’ type of feeling, which I’ve had for about a year....
I’ve watched many different form videos to help me with my deadlift/sumo deadlift form, still couldn’t get it right until I found yours. Thank you so much for breaking this down so well!
I started to deadlift at the start of the year because of this video and just coming back to it now it’s still super helpful! I’ve been doing the conventional deadlift but I think I’m going to try out the sumo deadlift next time! ❤️💕

Loved this one! Im trying to incorporate hook grip into my deads and form might be lacking a little until I'm comfortable, this was helpful to remind me of the basics!
Great and informative video. Been going to the gym for close to eight weeks now and have only been using machines because I’ve been scared of doing anything else. 😅 I think I can probably do this tomorrow.
Im tall for a girl (5’9) but I personally prefer the Sumo squat. Even though my body structure should make it perfect for conventional squats given my shorter torso and long limbs, having an injury prone lower back makes sumo my deadlifts the strongest. Does any other tall lifter relate?
Literally same! Had a lumbar injury from snowboarding and my conventional deadlift always aggravated it. Just started sumo last week and I was grinning from ear to ear, never thought I'd be able to deadlift again without that twinge of pain. I'm 5'11" with long legs, long arms, and a short torso.
If you can't lift something without a belt, don't do it at all, maybe if you don't want a thick core I understand the use of the belt, but for people who care about strength a belt isn't that great doin it without a belt works core way more
Impressive explanation with visuals. You offered several tips that are safety oriented, applicable today, and sparks motivation to work out again tomorrow. Gotta get ready for the 👙. I see you stay ready, lol.
I did deadlifts for the first time today and my husband taught me the conventional way. I’m 5 foot 3 and think the sumo way would be easier for me. Will try tomorrow, thanks!
I was really having a big issue with the deadlifts.. I was kinda feeling guilty and unmotivated cuz I couldn't perform these with the proper form. After watching this video I'm gonna improve on my form.. Thank a ton!
Best explanation for how to set the lats I've ever seen. Everybody is like "activate the lats and go". That's like Pavarotti being like "ok sing like me". So bravo, Meg!
Great video Meg. But! When you pull conventional, I would tell people to tighten the glutes and hamstrings. And to do this maybe BEFORE you tighten the lats.. I dunno, I'm doing that nowadays, and I found that a lot of coaches and youtubers explaining the deadlift, missing out on that detail. And it's really a simple movement, when you grab the bar stand in a stiffleg position before your shins reach the bar.

Good evening, young lady! You condensed a lot of information in to a short video, and without too much detail, I still trust what you're saying. I agree with why everyone says that taller lifters favour conventional; however, I'm 6 feet 3/192cm and prefer sumo at the moment. That being said, that's simply because I have an injury/persistent soreness in the lower back which prevents me from pulling conventional. I have found that exercise (any movement) does relieve pain; do you advise simply lifting a lot lighter conventionally until the soreness goes away or persist with sumo. Also, I notice that your back angle in sumo is quite bent over compared to many others (men), is this a conscious choice, you can't due to mobility or is simply correct? I have very long legs for my height and probably pull with a similar back angle but always under the assumption that it is too shallow and I am doing a slightly wider version of conventional.
