- On Friday May 14th I was conducting a 1st Amendment Audit on the Town Of Freeport Village Hall. I encountered rude public employees at the front desk who were too busy on their phone to answer my questions.
Freeport Police arrived and attempted to bully me saying I wasn't allowed to film there and force me out of the building. Which would interfere with a constitutional protected activity.
I am going to meet with the Freeport Mayor this Tuesday to share my concerns with him. To hold those involved accountable.

I am a retired Federal employee of 33 years and one thing I NEVER forgot was that I served the public. When you stop understanding this simple elementary fact, you need to step aside from your Government position immediately. The sarge needs to retire immediately. If not, he needs to fired. He embarrasses this town and the rest of his peers.

Any civil servant needs to be dismissed from public service at the moment of their second sustained complaint.
I have watched, probably a thousand or so audits, and I have never, not a single time, thought a clerk should be fired. Seen cops who should be fired, even mayors, but not once did I see a random employee like that who did something so disrespectful and rude, that they should be fired. And that was it. That girl needs to her lose job. I doubt she even does work with that attitude, she is clearly entitled.

Really? I’ve watched a lot of his videos as well and it seems like the only time he’s ever made any misconstrued threats have been when officers have laid hands on him unlawfully. He just mentions to them later that if they were not an officer, he would be allowed to defend himself.

He’s by far the best auditor I’ve seen. You usually see these guys baiting officers hard using purposely evasive techniques, whereas this guy is actually trying to educate them during the encounter.

The deputy chief obviously was knowledgeable enough to know the had to let you go about your business. But his attitude was horrendous, and that, I think, was a big reason for the horrific behaviour of his underlings.

Twice we know of. 3 if you count when he said he knows the law, but I guess he could have been talking about a different law.
Since he is a complusive lier he should be put on a an Giglio List, which is Brady Material that must be disclosed to a person charged with a crime. The list contains the names and details of police officers who have sustained incidents of untruthfulness, criminal convictions, candor issues. or some other type of issue placing their credibility into question.

I've watched quite a few of these audits and it seems to me that the ones that confront auditors are just begging to be on tape I really think that's it, the auditor would leave a lot faster if no one acted out. It's really common sense...

When you go back on Tuesday, you might as well make it a revisit audit, go to the counter and ask for a public record form or a few specific things that they would handle
Yea unfortunately long Island officers would probably just arrest you and not care about it. They let the DA deal with there mistakes lol cops over here are mostly terrible lol. They overshadow the good ones too much.
The attitudes on display behind that counter and by those two officers are THE reason to record.

Despite his claims of not acting aggressively, the older fellow walks-up on a law abiding citizen--clearly a form of escalation.
4:00 The sargeant and his racoon-eye partner are puzzled that you said they are coming up aggressive, then proceed to talk and approach you aggressively in less that 15 seconds.

I've seen a couple hundred and every time I grateful I'm not there because I personally would kick these auditors butts. You're not there fighting for the Rights of others, I bet a local news channel could walk into the building and get a meeting with the mayor in a heart beat. Film where ever they want and talk to who ever they wanted to. Auditors think walking in with a camera makes them a member of the same club, wrong, their just a-holes with cameras. Yes you're allowed some freedom to film in public, but the human thing to do is ask permission from those you are filming.

It is *seemingly* petty yes, but when the people who should uphold the law try to violate the 1st amendment, it’s pretty horrifying. America is the way it is (highest gdp, most powerful military, freest civilians) for a reason. When things like this start to deteriorate, our country will fall.
