    Implicit bias makes me uncomfortable, and I think that's because I try to avoid prejudices in myself.

    The low sample size, subjectively measured and data pruned (like rejecting a quarter of the people's data) reference studies seem odd when you know about big ones like Harvard's. The speed of connecting concepts can have a negative bias relation like the attentional bias for smokers. The popular IAT's don't swap in a way to prevent 'muscle memory' like your initial example tries and it wouldn't account for a primacy effect (increased by the test's time pressure). You also attribute the cause to specific races rather than being the outgroup (not necessarily racial) despite it's better correlation and the cross-race effect.
