Yo yeah this is such a necessary video for anyone thinking about visiting Japan. As a foreigner you just have no idea about a lot of these. I think you guys did an awesome job covering the biggest cultural differences. I guess you can sum it all down to being very respectful and courteous of those around you and being extra polite at least on the surface. But who knows why there are so few public bins lucky there are so many vending machines everywhere.
Hit the nail on the head, it's all about respect and being mindful of others around you. One of the big things I love about Japan. I think the lack of public bins is due to keeping the habit of bringing your rubbish home. haah so true there are plenty vending machines and convenient stores anyways.
I was always curious how things are done in different places. Money tray is a great idea. I like how they do it for tipping. These are great tips for when we go to Japan!!!! Thanks for giving us a great overview.
the bowing, we actually did it too automatically lol after they bowed to us. and yup agree on slurping!! Andjas slurped really loud when we had ramen in Osaka lol. bit unusual but wanna made the chef happy too!
We also got told off by a local for not cleaning up after ourselves in a coffee shop in Japan. So we learnt to always put our tray and used bits and bobs away before we left a coffee shop.
I love your editing style! It makes your video a hundred times more interesting despite the common content. Would you mind sharing which software you used for your video?
I wish we watch video like this before coming to Japan for the first time before haha We didn’t know that we are not supposed to eat while walking and eat/drink in public transport, complete opposite of Melbourne haha
Visiting Japan currently, I don't think I could get used to being so quiet in public, total opposite of Australia 😂 and I'm basically as quiet as it gets for Aussie standards lol, like can you imagine an average Japanese person on the train in Australia 💀😅
Just stumbled across your video. Good information. You should have added that if standing on the train always face the seated person, don't stick your butt in their face. 😂
As long as you remember to be quiet on the train or bus and not cut in line, Japanese people are tolerant of other things. Trains and buses are full of people who are tired and irritable after work.
Blowing your nose, oddly, is considered pretty bad by most Asians, EXCEPT, Chinese old school will blow their noses on the street, but I think they're discouraging that these days. One thing that is utterly a no no is blowing your nose at the table. For the love of God don't.
2:42 Sorry, but taking someone talking about manners while chewing with their mouth open and even speaking, makes it hard to take seriously. Or in Stephen Colberts words: People who chew with their mouths open, should be forced to drink with their mouths open as well.

Please don't tip. We don't tip here in general.
the bowing, we actually did it too automatically lol after they bowed to us. and yup agree on slurping!! Andjas slurped really loud when we had ramen in Osaka lol. bit unusual but wanna made the chef happy too!
ahaha very considerate! We need to work on slurp game so we can do the same.
We also got told off by a local for not cleaning up after ourselves in a coffee shop in Japan. So we learnt to always put our tray and used bits and bobs away before we left a coffee shop.
I do that in United States it shows you weren’t raised right to clean up after yourself
I wish every country in the world had etiquette like this!
Agree. Very nice country
Loud phone talking on buses. Drives me mad. Here London, UK .. foreigners (and many natives) bellow down the phone for the entire journey.
Always frustrating not to find a garbage bin! Remember having that issue in Taiwan
We really want to visit Tawan. We will remember what you said so we know are more prepared lol
The rubbish bin is so true!!!
So hard to find it haha
Almost need to carry our rubbish until we can find it.

You guys with the tipping 😂
good job
Omggg 1:37 is perfect timing ahahaa
omg took so long to think of something for that segment and to find that sort of clip lol
Didn’t know that about the money tray! Interesting!! Well, we won’t tip when we go to Japan one day! Don’t want to offend anyone! Good to know!!
This one really surprised us! lol not common at all.
Going to some place in Japan in march for a karate competition 😎🛫🎌☝🏽🥊
Ooohhh! Had no idea that eating and drinking in public was a no no!! So different from the US!
Thank you so much for these great tips for traveling in Japan!! Can’t wait to go one day...after Covid-19 is under control!
You're most welcome!
I wish we watch video like this before coming to Japan for the first time before haha
We didn’t know that we are not supposed to eat while walking and eat/drink in public transport, complete opposite of Melbourne haha
hahahah it's a free for all in Melbs, no rules.
ROFL. The potato chip stroll. LOL
Battle to have the last bow!
This is just a Filipino home, no shoe zone here. I think after this Pandemic, bowing may replace the hand shake. These videos are so entertaining.
That's a good point, bowing could be the new greeting lol
Need part 2
I'll take that $100 tips, thanks aahahaa
hahaha I would take $100 tip any day =P
I cannot slurp properly, I wish I can 😂
Same here we suck at it bad lol
new subscriber :D
こんにちは!リアナです。初めまして
What about my tattoos? I have a full arm sleeve! Would I be treated different? 🎎
These should be universal. Except for the slurping thing

Hahaha I'd say that should be etiquette EVERYWHERE in the world
that's actually smart. having bathroom shoes.
Right? Bathroom floors can get pretty gross
My in laws have slippers at their place. I need to start having them at our house. Probably better than everyone walking around barefoot or socks.
haha as long as their feet and socks are clean no problems. Typical asian fam to have slippers lol. Does Carl walk around in slippers at home?
@@HangryByNature Carl is usually in socks at home actually. I wear slippers indoors when it starts to get cold outside.

Makes no sense to be worried about shoes\slippers but not putting a backpack on the floor
Can you send me invitation from Nigeria or work visa
They don't want you
Hi
Heewo!
I'm from tik tok
Thanks for coming over to our RUclips :D

The reason why there aren’t a lot of public trash cans is because of a terrorist attack that occurred on March 20th, 1995

GAIJIN don't have to bow, especially tourists. It's ridiculous to try, you simply don't know what you are doing.
Whats with the drama Queen presentation …. 😢
This information is not incorrect, but you shouldn't be serious. Don't refer to these guidances and take it easy when you come to Japan!

02:34 Hi Guys 💋💞
Hey there!
Slurping is so gross.
