  • Well the "Fly California" train is finally done! This is the design used in all the promotional material by California HSR. The chassis is a TGV Duplex which Caltrans used however my model uses the Duplex bi-level coaches instead of the single levels. So I had to modify the paint scheme a little on the cars. These are totally tricked out Mehano models with ESU sound decoders in each one. Lights and sound installed. The cars have had their interiors painted and detailed with headrests, figures and more. Sick! Shown running on my Eastern California Model RR.

Rob C I like & enjoy your model railroad videos and am a big fan of trains & railroads myself. I travel by train when I travel long distance on Amtrak and also the Pacific Surfliner from San Diego to Los Angeles & Oxnard when i’m home in the San Diego area alternating my visits between the 2 cities.

Great layout of the Eastern California model railroad there. I like the California High Speed train as well as the XpressWest train as well. I watch short videos to get ideas of a model railroad layout I want to make which is of the Pacific Surfliner/Coast Starlight route from San Diego to San Luis Obispo & North of there. I already have the N scale Amtrak set in Superliner & will in the future buy more Superliner phaseIVb cars and make my Amtrak train the Coast Starlight, will also add a Pacific Surfliner train set & a FlyCalifornia High Speed train set to it and even a Coast Daylight in the Southern Pacific Daylight colors with a GS-4 streamlined 4-8-4 locomotive number 4449 with it.

I believe in some of the promotional videos for the California HSR they show a Japanese Shinkansen E5 series (Hayabusa) in the Fly California colours, Kato do an HO scale model of the E5, a repaint etc of that would be cool to see!

I’ll be on the lookout for the FlyCalifornia HSR train set in N gauge. I have a plan to build an N gauge layout of the Pacific Surfliner/Coast Starlight route from San Diego to San Luis Obispo in the future.

How do you do that? That is neat how you customize those trains to look like a california high speed train!
