Even more ironic is Amazon had the lead writer of HotD, Ryan Condal, doing a Conan series for them until Jennifer Salke became the Head of Amazon Studios because she felt it was toxically masculine despite the script getting rave reviews by those that read it. Which freed Ryan Condal to finally get a Game of Thrones spin-off off the ground. So in every way Amazon set itself up to fail.
If the Conan series had been true to the original content and brought to Amazon prime, it would have been criticized and labeled toxic by every feminazi group out there, and been a huge success. Don’t believe me look up Married with Children protest and the end result.

Don't forget, the ONLY reason that House of the Dragon even exists is because Amazon's Jennifer Salke let go HotD's showrunners who were originally working on a Conan show for Amazon, that likely would have been amazing.
MelanieMacGoBoom covered this. I think we dodged a bullet with Amazon. Now it's allegedly picked up by Netflix. So hopefully we dodge a bullet with them.
I stopped watching the show after Galadriel got swallowed by the volcano. It seemed like a good way to end that disaster of a show. Haven't even watched the last 2 episodes.
@@GearShotgun "The wise speak only of what they know, Gríma son of Gálmód. A witless worm have you become. Therefore be silent, and keep your forked tongue behind your teeth. I have not passed through fire and death to bandy words with a serving-man till the lightning falls."
The big kicker was Amazon had the show runners for House of the dragon. They were working on a Conan show. But Amazon thought it was too toxically. Masculine and got rid of them in favor of Lord of the rings. So they fired the people they ended up competing against
Also the guy doing Game of Thrones is the same guy Amazon got rid of when they dropped the Conan the Barbarian series he was working on for them. They could have had that success but they gifted it to Discovery Warner. Pretty hilarious. Kind of like how Disney ditched James Gunn and now he's overseeing the DC on film universe.
You know, I actually hope Amazon makes 5 more years of this, and launches a dozen other shows just like it. If that happened, maybe they'd go bankrupt!
Not going to happen. If there's a single defining feature of Amazon, it's that they treat their employees like shit. The amount of money this show blew will draw the ire of Bezos ... the showrunners will be lucky to ever get another job in the industry, ever again.
@@Danceofmasks that's the point though the head writers of the show couldn't get a single script made in 10 years of trying. They literally had no career before this show besides some fill in work here and there for JJ Abrams.
The fact that Amazon fired the showrunners of House of the Dragon (who were making a Conan series at the time) to make wheels of time and rings of power instead needs to be brought up more.
@@ascensionindustries9631 watching him react to some of this modern stuff is often like watching someone politely destroying things with a hammer somehow to me.

Quite a few RUclipsrs that we’re doing weekly review of rings of power, notably the whole cast of Friday Night Tights and guest member Shadiversity, noticed something suspicious when watching the final episode. In the middle of the episode, if you didn’t keep the remote/mouse on hand to exit the prompt, you’d get auto-played onto another show, forcing you to have to click that final episode again. Current theory, due to how en masse it was among them and their live stream viewers, is that it was a way Amazon could double their “viewership” by counting each click on the episode individually.
One thing I've learned about Amazon. They will not give you feedback under any circumstance. They hold everything inside. All data, all numbers will not leave their leadership meeting room. But this show is too big of a disaster to hide. They will never admit fault. They will never directly let you know they fired the showrunners.
@@D0NU75 Jeff is a lying parasite. The government choose a bald moron. To be their puppet in the private sector. Nothing about Amazon is original. Like Facebook. Like Microsoft. Morons run all of them. Babbling idiots.
Amazon will NEVER EVER admit that the show failed. They spent way too much money and put way too much time into making it to ever say that it was anything less than a success. They'll double, triple, and quadruple down on that. Fan blaming will run rampant and all fingers will be pointed in every direction except inward where it should be.
id normally agree but they put 1 BILLION DOLLARS into this thats like 3 force awakens entire budget and its bombed THIS FAST they might actually care about burning 1 billion dollars for a loss.
"mah gurl Galadriel!" My favourite talking point. I almost always saw that mentioned whenever the show was mentioned positively: the worst character of the show
Funny enough, the "Mah gurl Galadriel" girl is watching HOTD AS THE NEW EPISODES COME OUT. But makes the excuse that the reason she wasn't watching ROP was because she would "binge watch it" once all the episodes come out. No update about that as the season is done.
I'm pretty sure it was a success... In the same way She Hulk was, the showrunners tried to do something awful to troll the fans, and they made it out of this world!!!
The minute I hear the key words “IF YOU DON’T LIKE THIS YOU ARE “ then you already know it has failed. The pretend super fans were an absolute joke and 1 of them was actually watching GOT and was and still is a Harry Potter super fan.

Strange, every time I’m told it’s not made for me, I don’t watch it and it fails. I’m beginning to think this marketing strategy isn’t working. I could be wrong
First 3 episodes I was on board for the most part, after that I actually read some 2nd age lore and each episode got worse, because zero of what occurs in the show, actually happens in the source material.
Thats the reason I never watched one episode to begin with. Had nothing to do with all the race swapping and woke shit, they couldn't be bothered to secure the rights to The Silmarillion. So, I couldn't be bothered to watch.
@@jedimastayoda112 Don't let them off with the race swapping though. These are the same kind of people who complain if a not-as-dark-as-average black person is cast in a show. They have zero right to cheapen Tolkien's world by swapping in unrealistic lore races. I said the same when I spotted a diverse character in the Hobbit trilogy crowd. They wouldn't be there, so don't put them there. There won't be 10% white people in the crowds in 'Black Panther 2'.
Having grown up in a household of Tolkien fanatics, this show felt so dissimilar to Tolkien's works, I found myself comparing it more to movie adaptations of YA Novels
Really if someone wanted to make a show that was LOTR adjacent but gave a lot of gaps to play around with they would have been better served to try for a show following the Blue Wizards that went out East. There is very little that is officially written about what happened out there, other than a few notes; some of the earlier ones considering them failures like Saruman while later notes suggesting that perhaps they had an important role out there creating pockets of resistance to Saruman where he otherwise would have had total control, and were part of the reason that the men of the West weren't entirely overrun.
I'd like to know why no one is complaining about the volcano scene. When the volcano erupted everyone just stood there. The pyroclastic cloud can reach temperatures of about 1,000 °C (1,800 °F). I mean in reality everyone is dead. It was basically right out of Pompeii. They would have been incased in ash and their lungs burned out.
pyroclastic flows are so intensely hot that the heat literally caused the brains of some of Pompeii's victims to boil inside their skulls. The on l consolation there is that by the time that happened, they were already dead.
@@yelsahblah3270 I only watched the first 20 minutes of The Rings Of Power, instead I watched all of Just Some Guy’s reviews. The man know his Tolkien.
I think you may have missed EVERY review on RUclips of that episode. I can't remember any that DIDN'T call bullshit on that part (and everything else).
It’s interesting that HOTD had its own controversy over non white casting, but the difference was in the response. HBO and the show runners and cast didn’t come out attacking the audience. They were confident enough in their casting choices, they knew all people had to do was watch it and those complaints would go away. And they mostly have. People really like the casting of HOTD, and Corlys Valeryan has one of the best lines in the show so far: History doesn’t remember blood, it remembers names. I can’t wait for the next season.
It also, to an extent, makes more sense than usual that the Velayrons were race-swapped, because, in several episodes, it is used to cleverly further the story and/or play the 'great game' as Tyrion referred to it in GoT S6. Edit: I still take issue with Hollywoke in general (and I always will, for numerous reasons), but I loved HotD (despite wanting to hate it after GoT S8).
GRRM is still alive and it’s his canon to change if he wants. It was a manufactured honestly, mostly people were/are ticked we got HoD and not you know the origin series of books finished.
It's also the case that the Velaryons were logically cast as a black family, rather than ROP's randomly sprinkling POC around the populace without any concern for how genetics works (especially in a pre-modern world)
In HOTD its one family, its still rather unlogical how they managed to stay that way surrounded by white people but still, its just one family and the writing and casting was overall quite good. In Rings of Power they have made every 4th person a random ethnicity/colour, they will show you a village populated by white people and suddenly there's 3 extremly dark people, 2 east-asians etc. it doesnt make any sense at all and is completly immersion-breaking. Its moronic. There is a way to do "diversity" in a immersive non-intrusive way that can fit the story, they could have had 3 arabic-looking travellers/merchants from Rhun or Harad that somehow made it into the story. That wouldnt have bothered me. Blackwashing white characters like they did instead is disgusting, lazy and immersion breaking. It looks so out of place it drags you out of that universe and reminds you its just another corporate consoomer product with woke/libtard ideological filth in it to brainwash the viewer or appease some left wing radicals in the media. These political activist making these decisions just cant tolerate the idea of a society that is homogenous apparantly, at least not if its white. Its the same with the Witcher series and most other things. In HOTD its "tolerable" only because the amount of is far less, and the rest of the show is good.
They're moving filming of Season 2 from New Zealand to Vietnam because $1 is about 22,650 Dong right now, so they can film all of Season 2 of the rings of power on a total budget of about $44,000.
Rings of Power isn't a failure, it's a catastrophe. Who knew hiring inexperienced show runners recommended by JJ Abrams was a bad idea..... except for everyone who's not Jeff Bezos.
The hilarious thing is that Amazon actually had the sense to tell Chris Carter--who is pretty much whom JJ Abrams is following the lead of--that if he wanted them to buy his big-budget show? Sure! But only if he has a COMPLETE and FINISHED show bible before he gets a penny.
After watching this drabble I appreciate Peter Jackson's trilogy and The Hobbit trilogy a lot more The language spoken getting the message across was done brilliantly in the movies this show has just bad writing and bad acting that is why House of dragon wins it all because the writing is excellent and the delivery of that writing is amazing
I’m curious if that one “influencer” who praised her girl Ga-la-dree-e-elllllll eventually saw the season since she admitted she had been watching House Of The Dragon and promised to binge watch Rings Of Power on a livestream.
The only chatter I've heard are the show-runners and some of the actors insulting everyone for being racist, sexist and stupid for not loving 'the best show ever....'
GOT practiced some humility by learning from their mistakes and heeding their audience. ROP, in its conception and marketing, seemed based on total hubris and contempt toward any criticism.
give it time they ruin it right at the end they always do shamelessly it happend with GOT it happend with Walking dead and it will happen hear mark my words.
Weirdly, Amazon recently made a Jack Reacher series, that sounds like it fits the tone of the original books, which the author originally conceived as, "How would Conan the Barbarian work in the modern world?"
What's wild is that the show Reacher did quite well. It's also based on books. Do what their showrunners did, respect the source material and hire competent actors.
@@island_girl I've seen all three of them and found all three of them good (and consider this, i'm not even an american... y'know). But yeah what do you expect from Series where the major focus is to deliever a interesting show, and not to push irl politics/agendas and virtue signaling.
@@island_girl When they blamed the economic ruin of Venezuela on capitalism and America, instead of the socialist tyrant Hugo Chavez I couldn't watch any more of the 2nd season of Jack Ryan. The communist propaganda is sickening in Hollywood.
The very concept of piggybacking off of Tolkien’s work was offensive. What if told you I was going to do a prequel to Macbeth that’s woke or a sequel to Crime and Punishment that’s more inclusive and diverse. You would think I was insane, but yet they did this with one of the best works of literature from the 20th century. Insane.
I've been a Lord of the Rings fan since 1967.. they called me patently evil for questioning their show's choices? I wouldn't watch Rings of power if Bezos came to my house with a life time free Prime subscription and offered me a million. They can jump into Mt doom. Not a penny of my money will I give them.
A show that moved like molasses, didn’t follow the lore closely, run by two showrunners from Bad Robot, and had to deal with competition from House of the Dragon? What could possibly go wrong? Cheekiness aside, ROP is a fascinating disaster because it’s how not to do a series. Especially when you invest a billion dollars into it.
I can confirm that the pre-release marketing led to me cancelling my Prime membership before the first episode aired. It was successful in telling me the show wasn't made for me, and I wasn't wanted as part of the audience so I duly obliged with my disinterest.
Studios needs to stop promising several seasons before a show performs, make sure there's an audience for your product before making a huge commitment and always have an exit strategy.
Whats really amazing is that they had THE EXPANSE. They opted to cut short the last season and put off the final seasons. The Expanse was AWESOME. Reacher was AWESOME. How the F**K do they not get it yet?
The Rings of Power was a critical and financial failure. How many subs did it bring in? How many are going to stay? I've been a Prime subscriber literally from the beginning - back when it didn't include Video and was much, much cheaper. I am seriously thinking about dropping it when it comes up for renewal in February - just because of this show.
You can just cancel it now and it will continue running until the next renewal date. There's no reason to delay cancelation. I've been on a one-time payment system for all my subs for years. When something appears that I want to see, I just sub for one month and immediately unsub. This gives me one month to watch whatever it is that I want to watch.
I watched about 3 minutes of it on accident, I tuned into a stream on twitch that was having a watch party, and I regret even giving RoP those precious minutes.
The solution is simple. Make a flashpoint style reset and then do it all over again but right this time with the new show runners. Have Sauron succeed and Galadriel jumps at a stone with a sword or some mystical bullshit and then a blinding light hits everyone, instantly thanosing anyone who identifies as woke in the show and fwoosh! Then a new actress opens her eyes, looks around and Elrond says "Galadriel, are you alright? That was quite the (Insert plot device nonsense explaining the reset here)." Boom
Amazon did make a success here- they made house of the dragons look better. ive been told it's a great show. i still think it's people at this point accepting the lowering industry standards and modern requirements that i think are BS.
11:42. They didn't just take many creative liberties, Kneon... they pretty much rewrote the entire story to what THEY thought it should have been. Let that sink in. These two guys thought they could "IMPROVE" (aka fix) the greatest fantasy writer in the world's work on-screen. THAT'S why so many Tolkien fans are so PO'd as these two. ALL they had to do was make something that was even loosely what was in the books, and they would have been fine. The sheer fact that they ADMIT that Season 2 would be "closer to the lore" means they made it SPECIFICALLY to NOT be close to the lore. :/
Hey Neon and Geeky, and anyone else, I know that these shows have been compared to shitty fanfiction, but that's actually giving them too much credit. A small prerequisite of fanfiction is that only fans can write fanfiction, which none of these people are. From now on could we please consider these TROLLFICTION, because that's what these "writers" are.
It’s almost like making a terrible product and then attacking the most passionate fans of that franchise is not a recipe for success! 🤷🏻♂️ If only there were a precedent of others who had tried that and failed before that they could have learned from, and saved themselves the major embarrassment. 😉🤦🏻♂️
The only way season 2 can hope to succeed is by restarting the story, or establishing that season 1 was a dream or something. Galadriel wakes up and sees Sauron in the shower or something. I don't care, they have to fix it.
It's like Amazon hates money....hey wait, maybe thats it! They have so much of it, that they're sick of looking at it and are purposely trying to get rid of it
They told me this show ain't for me (a loyal fan that actually spends money) and yelled and swore and called me insane names before it even started so I cancelled my prime subscription. 🤷♂️
12:39 That right the is one of the biggest reasons why entertainment go so bad and has remained that way for so long. Everyone is able to escape their failures. If those two aren't fired and the show recovers even mildly, their name recovers along with it. They would get credit for fixing their mess when they didn't. Leaving their next potential employer with a view like "yeah, they fumble their first project out of the gate but the saved it. Let's give them a shot?" If Hollywood is going to get back to making good entertainment, they have to do more than just dropping politics. They have to insure that failure leads to a negative consequence for those responsible.
There budget was slashed there no longer filming in New Zealand and the two show runners that were in charged were basically unofficially fired to were there basically in the broom closet if that doesn't tell you it failed then nothing will
They VERY deliberately swerved away from the lore from the first episode. Not sure how it's possible to course correct without erasing the first season altogether as anything lore related would instantly contradict it. You can't rebuild a house with a bad foundation.
It was mentioned (by Amazon) that they needed this to not just do well - it needed to do "Stranger Things" well. And it didn't. By their own goals, it failed - even if it could be considered a meager success otherwise.
Everything Jar Jar Abrams and his minions touches becomes an abomination! It must be nice to get all these chances and still fail..over..over.. and over again!..hmmm🤔🤨
Yeah if it had been a success they would be shouting from the rooftops about it. Instead all we get are defence articles from the media and the show runners trying to explain why they did what they did.
Support local where you can folks!! Buying from Amazon should be only as an absolute last resort. This has nothing to do with their garbage LOTR tv show. I'll give Amazon credit for The Terminal List and The Man in the High Castle (except for that last season).
Critic: "Tedious, empty, dull. My swag and paid day out were nice though. 10/10" [amazon advert] But there was absolutely no manipulation of the scores on their side, at all. No sir. Pay no attention to the week long review lock and the 20% of low-scoring reviews that magically disappeared from ROP's amazon tv page.
GOT had more emotion in the one scene where Damon places the crown on V’s head, than in all of lord of the rings episodes combined. Lord of the rings will Need a complete reboot to shake the stink off.
The most tragic part about Amazon's Lord of the Rubes - Rings of Puke, is that Simon Tolkien et al have made sure there's going to be 50 episodes of this garbage.

I stopped watching the show after Galadriel got swallowed by the volcano. It seemed like a good way to end that disaster of a show. Haven't even watched the last 2 episodes.
Remember, these guys fired that one Tolken expert because he said this show was shit. Bet they regret firing him now.
And ghosted Peter Jackson when he asked for a script.
But Tolkien fans loved it! The Amazon promos said so!
According to the promos, they weren’t just fans. They were “superfans.”

Amazon will NOT go bankrupt as their streaming service is more of a side project than anything
Not going to happen.

@@Danceofmasks Bezos retired Amazon's CEO is Andy Jassy now.
@@Danceofmasks the success of the show is nearly immaterial. They are contractually obligated to make 5 seasons worth of episodes.

The fact that Amazon fired the showrunners of House of the Dragon (who were making a Conan series at the time) to make wheels of time and rings of power instead needs to be brought up more.
I don’t think I personally know anyone that even watched it.

They will never directly let you know they fired the showrunners.
it made me question how really good is Jeff at business? he made himself look like he got there by accident much like mama sussan
Not all numbers. They were pretty vocal about the whole "25 million views" thing.

My favourite talking point. I almost always saw that mentioned whenever the show was mentioned positively: the worst character of the show
Funny enough, the "Mah gurl Galadriel" girl is watching HOTD AS THE NEW EPISODES COME OUT.

Just give me something well written and well acted is all I ask. Rogue one was pretty good. Even the first of the Disney Star Wars movies was looking ok because I thought Finn and Rey were both on a journey to become Jedi. All they had to do was get Han,Luke,Leia together in that first movie and it could have been so much more. Then it just went downhill from there.
As for Star Trek movies being a Trekkie I liked them all or should I say all the original trek movies. So for me original trek first for both the series and movies.
Tng the series was good too once I got used to the new crew. The movies were ok but for me my favourite was first contact which a lot of people don’t like but I don’t care because it’s your own opinion that counts and not someone else’s. I have liked all of the different trek series even enterprise.
Then we get to discovery and I watched the first season and part of the second before I realized it wasn’t going to get any better.
I will look up dust on you tube it sounds as though it could be good. As for crying in a movie I have done so many times over the years and recently watched a classic old movie “ the ghost and mrs muir “ on Foxtel and even though I already knew what was going to happen I still teared up when the captain who was the ghost came back for her when she passed away at the end. But unfortunately over the years they have gotten worse
With JJ Abramas and Kathleen Kennedy killing both franchise dead rning every thing into a platform for identity, gender politics and pushing the message down our throats
Rings of power ,woman King and shehulk are just some examples
And both men and women are fed up with this deconstruction of beloved male characters ,films and show just to appeal to some narcissistic men haters and their flying monkey's
It's clear the studios don't care about the fans and just keep pushing out crap regardless of what people say

Delete, hide and use propaganda to cover up their lies and behaviour
This type of actions and behaviour is what you would expect from a 2 year old chucking a tantrum in Coles supermarket when mum says no
Not from muti billion dollar businesses such as Disney or Amazon
It is true there are alot of old films and shows that are well made and bring back alot of memories growing up
Certainly alot better than the utter crap they dish out today
The reason I recommended dust is they remind me of how films use to be
To have you on the edge of your seat, to feel for the characters
To laugh ,cry and have the crap scared out of you , to be entertained
When was the last time you felt that way about a film or show ?
The first Ghost Busters, Back to the Future, Aliens or Termator or Kill Bill or Dead Space ?
I'm into the Japanese animation films and show probably as when my daughter was growing we watched the animation movies like Cats and Dog ,dinosaurs, Spirited Away and many others
One Japanese animated film in would recommend is Flight of the Fire Flies made by Gimmbly studies
It's probably one of his best films
I'm yet to watch the film to the end as it's an emotional tear jerker so you will need a box of tissues
Probably a good film to cuddle up with the lovely wife or girlfriend or family with older kids
Gimmbly has made other animated films such as Spirited Away, Howe's Magic Castle and many others
You may think that animated films are just kids cartoons and not suitable for adults
But that couldn't be more far from the truth
Infact some are definitely not suitable for children under 15
And some not under 18
With horror ,mature themes, violence and gore
You personally may think these other types of medium aren't your tast or type
But what we have to deal with so called entertainment we have now
I like many others are looking elsewhere
Wether it be old shows and movies in the past , animation or independent film artists like in DUST
One thing that is sad is the fall of the small independent cinema
As here in Perth Western Australia alot have ether closed down or are handing from a thread
Yes cov didn't help the situation
But how many times have you gone to the local cinema and walked out as there was nothing showing you wanted to see
Since cov I've gone to the movies 3 times , in past years I use to go at least once or twice a month
The quality of movies over the years has gotten down to the point now ,they are utter crap
Yes there is exceptions like Dune ,freeguy ,no body and top gun
The time of the cinema is coming to an end just like block buster video stores and streaming services have taken over
Strange, every time I’m told it’s not made for me, I don’t watch it and it fails.
If we were actually going to get a faithful adaptation of the second age what will be the story in the first season.
The old saying that any publicity is good publicity is no longer true

I'd like to know why no one is complaining about the volcano scene. When the volcano erupted everyone just stood there. The pyroclastic cloud can reach temperatures of about 1,000 °C (1,800 °F). I mean in reality everyone is dead. It was basically right out of Pompeii. They would have been incased in ash and their lungs burned out.
I actually did see a few commentators cover the volcano. Just Some Guy even showed images from Pompeii on his video.
pyroclastic flows are so intensely hot that the heat literally caused the brains of some of Pompeii's victims to boil inside their skulls. The on l consolation there is that by the time that happened, they were already dead.

He said even better
"What is this mortal life ? If not pursuit of legacy"
Sad thing is they were warned not to make it.

Weirdly, Amazon recently made a Jack Reacher series, that sounds like it fits the tone of the original books, which the author originally conceived as, "How would Conan the Barbarian work in the modern world?"
Well what's there to talk about? Nobody. Cares. And indifference, as Amazon will quickly realize, is even more damning than openly scorning it.
What's wild is that the show Reacher did quite well. It's also based on books. Do what their showrunners did, respect the source material and hire competent actors.

I can confirm that the pre-release marketing led to me cancelling my Prime membership before the first episode aired. It was successful in telling me the show wasn't made for me, and I wasn't wanted as part of the audience so I duly obliged with my disinterest.
We all know it’s a failure. It had no option but to fail.

The Expanse was good. ROP, not worth my time.
They managed to take the OG of fantasy and turn it into a derivative of a derivative of a deconstructed fantasy.
Insulting the customer is gross misconduct and grounds for dismissal in any career...

I thought it always was a failure... 😅 This made me chuckle.
'Galadriel wakes up and sees Sauron in the shower' -- Then she smiles like she did whilst on horseback, and Sauron flees in terror.
I'm old enough to have gotten that reference 😉
This is what happens when you mess with the lore, a d attack the fans
It's like Amazon hates money....hey wait, maybe thats it! They have so much of it, that they're sick of looking at it and are purposely trying to get rid of it
Perhaps they're starting to realise the golden rule, stop pissing off your core audience and fanbase.
“These guys have no credit or success to their names.”
And they still don’t…
